Event Log (Finding the Cure)
Welcome to Happy Heights!
Attleton's premier amusement park!
Or at least it used to be.
Attleton's mayor has mentioned the unfortunate only access point to the items needed to make the tonic that will cure the tragic sense-depriving infection that's going around. They'd thought the disease was gone, so they hadn't bothered to maintain the area, but the wells are Happy Heights are the only place that's still going down to the aquifer. They could drill down but-- well, they don't have time for that before the disease really sets into permanence! The number of freak incidences and the decrepit state of the theme park will make it difficult to maneuver, but they've notified the electric company to turn the power on so that people can navigate their way through the park in order to gather the ingredients to make the cure.
Unfortunately, since it's been so long since the park's been opened, rain water and nature have all but wiped the park's map into illegibility. You're on your own for exploration and it's time to find at least four wells from different parts of the park. There are many, but none are a walk in the park to get to! They used to be part of a collection game kids could play when they came into the park.
The mayor warns everyone that the cure is incredibly sensitive to sunlight and oxygenation from the atmosphere- by the time a person can get four, the first extracted water will have their bioluminescence diminished. (And going to that park in the dark... it's too dangerous, he wouldn't recommend it!) It probably won't make it out of the park, so drink it right away! Good luck!
OOC NOTES: There will be different areas listed for different flowers that have soaked into the wishing wells' aquifer. Each area will have a couple of different scenarios you can play out- you're responsible for playing them out and you're welcome to have a blast with whatever you want to do! If you don't want to play it out but you did play sensory deprivation, feel free to handwave your character getting a cure, but remember: If you manage to have at least four different threads with 10 comments from your character, your character will receive an Attleton Charm ICly and for 'exceptionally valiant efforts' in eliminating the disease. (3 month prize claim limit puts this prize available until Dec. 21st.) To claim a charm, click here. Good luck!
Don't forget: If your character tampers with any of the things that are set up to get access to wells except when stated, the ride may explode or collapse, cutting off the well. Pretty unstable park, you know.
If your character wants to explore more of the park than where the wells are, they're more than welcome to. Feel free to make your own thread if you just want to have your character playing on any rides or doing things that they want- get creative, have fun, but the only areas with wells are those listed.

Abel examined the harness further to check for the safety locks and to see if they're durable and safe.
"If there is anything we learned from the rides? There might be a well at the end. It's worth trying and experimenting what works."
He doubled and tripled check.
"I think it's all right. Do you need help putting this on?"
no subject
[She approached Abel, twigs still caught in her long, blonde hair. She looked at the harness upon his question.]
"Umm... Yes, I don't know how to wear one of these."
no subject
"I think so. It happened with the Ferris Wheel...so let's find out. Honestly, to find the cure, we have to fun with this, I suppose."
With a nod, "Okay, let see where this takes us. Be careful to avoid the trees and don't get hit by them."
Abel helps putting the harness around her and putting on the safety locks, making sure it's tight and secure. Meanwhile, he took care to take the twigs out of her hair, each and every one of them. "It's best to don't move much and hold this steady, so hold the strap please, for your safety." The wings flutter a bit with their movements.
When he's done, "All right, not too tight, I hope?"
no subject
Once he finished helping her, she did as told and held onto the strap.]
"Okay. I'm ready when you are."
no subject
"Okay just give me a moment..."
Or rather a few long moments. He's an adult, trying to put on his harness, and he looks absolutely ridiculous with the fairy wings protuding on his back. He looks an overgrown, tall fairy man with the silver hair.
Abel felt so retarded. Because he's looks...ridiculous, cute, and well, the fairy wings actually suited him.
Almost gay, okay?"Okay, this is...this silly. Whatever. All right, since you said ready. On the count of 3. 1...2...3...!"
At 3, they're off zipping down the line!
no subject
"I think it looks cute."
[It just occurred to her that she has no idea how fast this ride was going to be. But she flung herself forward with Abel upon three.
And it was too fast for her. She let her fear of going too fast and being too high up resonate in the forest.]
"Too fast! Too fast!"
totally a Dist scream
Abel doesn't think it's cute.
Aaaand after the count of 3, there is no coherent words coming out of his mouth, because Abel is hanging on for dear life as he the harness is zipping down the cables at such a high velocity!
When the harness on the line takes them close to this fairy spring down the line, a gush of water shoots out of special grates in the floor like geyser, gushing at whoever is passing by over it!
"GYAAAAAAAAAAAAH, I'M SOAKING WET! HELP! COLD! WET!"
no subject
As they zipline through the area, getting bombarded by water, she could've sworn she just heard Abel, a grown man, scream for help. Maybe she was hearing things because she was trying to control her own panic.
Won't this ride please end soon?!]
no subject
Maybe on her, it make sense.
Anyway, the ride kept on going, faster and faster, the trees zipped by in Abel's vision in a blur. Some of the leaves got caught in his long silver hair, and well, Abel is a drowned man from the gushing water. More manly yelling and screaming continues as the ride continues! With how many miles the cable is going through the thick forest, who knew how the long this water wet ride will go?
no subject
But now, it seems the ride was beginning to wind down to an end.]
no subject
By the time the ride is over and Abel reached the end of his line, guess what they found?
The wishing well itself! Ta-dah, looks like they're lucky! But for Abel, not so lucky, because he's drenched and soaked through his own clothes. He didn't find that fun. But at least, they found a well.
"Heeerk. That's a really fun ride." He said sarcastically, and just...flopped and being hanged from his harness. His own fairy wings all bent out of shape, with his hair pulled down from the wetness, and his glasses unclear from the water.
He wiped his glasses with his sleeve until he can see. "I think I'm all right. Anastasia? Are you okay?"
no subject
"Yes, I'm fine."
[She peeked around Abel to look at the well. It certainly looked similar to the one they found at the ferris wheel.]
no subject
"That's good. Give me a moment and I'll get you out."
Abel unhooked the straps and buckles and locks on his harness. He shook a bit to get the water out, but...it's going to take a while to get dry.
Once he's free, he went over to free Anastasia too, and eventually the both of them are free. Hey, he even removes some of the leaves from her hair and his own during their descent super fast ride.
"Ah, that well. It seems to be the same one near the Ferris Wheel."
no subject
"Indeed it is... These wells are quite a mystery."
no subject
With a sigh, Abel moved over to the well too and peered down to the water to see their reflection. There seem to be a healthy bioluminescence down at the bottom of the well.
"I suppose we can take a drink out of this one for our efforts. Then we'll cover it up to protect the water from being exposed to the sun."
no subject
It doesn't get easier for her the second time. But now, she was beginning to feel again. It was still weak, but it was progress.]
no subject
Abel took his turn to drink, the same as before with the well at the Ferris Wheel. His breathing gotten better and he thinks he can taste the bitterness of the water too.
"Do you feel anything, Anastasia? I think I'm feeling quite a bit better."
At least, Abel is becoming optimistic at his outcome, and Anastasia's too. Perhaps if they keep going in a determined effort, the town can be saved!
no subject
no subject
"I'm not sure. I guess we keep going until everyone is cured. But I think we're not the only team. I have seen others hunting for these wells too."
At that, Abel picks up some materials to cover up the well to protect the water from being exposed to the sun, and then makes a note of it's location on his phone.
no subject
[Anastasia steps aside to give Abel room to cover the well.]
"...We can get out of here, right? I don't think we can ride the lines back up."
no subject
[Once Abel is done, and he made sure the well is safe, covered, protect and secured from outside elements that could degrade the well, and document it on his phone, just like he did with the previous wells they found.]
"Huh? Yeah, we can get out of here. All right, let's go find a bench somewhere, take a rest, wait in the sun to get us dry, and we'll continue our quest from there."
no subject
She will quietly watch Abel until he's ready to go. Maybe her eyes will wander to other places around the forest every so often.]
no subject
[Doh of course, the memory of Ana's hospitalization came rushing back, so no direct exposure to the sunlight, but at least with the generous shade of a huge tree where they are resting, the clothes can dry off.
While they were resting, Abel studied the locations of the wells on his phone.]
Hmm, I suppose we have to find more rides...some of these wells are next to them.
no subject
[Anastasia pulled her long hair over her shoulder. She can just barely feel it as she gently strokes any remaining water out.]
"Where do you think the next well will be?"
no subject
"We can't be too picky now, can we?" Abel sighed, as he studied his phone some more, and then looked around the amusement park.
"We'll just have to find out by exploring some more."
After half an hour, Abel is partially dried, but he seems ready to go.
"I hope your feet is not too sore. If they are, we can rest a little while longer here."
