Event Log (Finding the Cure)

Welcome to Happy Heights!

Attleton's premier amusement park!

Or at least it used to be.

Attleton's mayor has mentioned the unfortunate only access point to the items needed to make the tonic that will cure the tragic sense-depriving infection that's going around. They'd thought the disease was gone, so they hadn't bothered to maintain the area, but the wells are Happy Heights are the only place that's still going down to the aquifer. They could drill down but-- well, they don't have time for that before the disease really sets into permanence! The number of freak incidences and the decrepit state of the theme park will make it difficult to maneuver, but they've notified the electric company to turn the power on so that people can navigate their way through the park in order to gather the ingredients to make the cure.

Unfortunately, since it's been so long since the park's been opened, rain water and nature have all but wiped the park's map into illegibility. You're on your own for exploration and it's time to find at least four wells from different parts of the park. There are many, but none are a walk in the park to get to! They used to be part of a collection game kids could play when they came into the park.

The mayor warns everyone that the cure is incredibly sensitive to sunlight and oxygenation from the atmosphere- by the time a person can get four, the first extracted water will have their bioluminescence diminished. (And going to that park in the dark... it's too dangerous, he wouldn't recommend it!) It probably won't make it out of the park, so drink it right away! Good luck!

OOC NOTES: There will be different areas listed for different flowers that have soaked into the wishing wells' aquifer. Each area will have a couple of different scenarios you can play out- you're responsible for playing them out and you're welcome to have a blast with whatever you want to do! If you don't want to play it out but you did play sensory deprivation, feel free to handwave your character getting a cure, but remember: If you manage to have at least four different threads with 10 comments from your character, your character will receive an Attleton Charm ICly and for 'exceptionally valiant efforts' in eliminating the disease. (3 month prize claim limit puts this prize available until Dec. 21st.) To claim a charm, click here. Good luck!

Don't forget: If your character tampers with any of the things that are set up to get access to wells except when stated, the ride may explode or collapse, cutting off the well. Pretty unstable park, you know.

If your character wants to explore more of the park than where the wells are, they're more than welcome to. Feel free to make your own thread if you just want to have your character playing on any rides or doing things that they want- get creative, have fun, but the only areas with wells are those listed.

[Anastasia was hiding behind Abel, peeking out from behind him to watch the angry birds. She would hide again as some birds will swoop in to try to scare them away. She feels they could attack them with everything they have if they try to move through.

If these birds are going to be a threat, then they might not have a choice.]

"I don't want to have to hurt them, Abel... But I will if we must."

Abel formed a determined fist while sharing his hiding spot with Anastasia behind the trees. This is hard. Mighty hard. He doesn't want to traumatized her. Abel has no problem killing them if that will clear their pathway to victory to save the town and saving her to get the cure, but he won't go down the murderous pathway just to save one and many others.

No killing the birds is NOT the answer. He's not that...monster. It isn't right. That would add more to his sins.

"No, there's another way. Let us think for a bit."

He has a strategy to scare them away, but that require him...to transform to his Other Self to be an effective scarecrow.

[She quietly nods. It's probably not a good idea for her to use magic anyway. If her Lightning magic misses, it could hit something else and start a fire.

Instead, she kneels down into a little ball, hoping to hide from the angry birds better.]

[That's not wise because any other outer elements can diminished and degrade the quality of the well's water.

Still, if he can chase them away, that means turning into his Crusnik form, his scary self, and he doesn't want to traumatize her.

But the birds...are in the way.]

Anastasia. Remember that day, after the ball, I told you about my Other Self? If I can shapeshift to that, I can scare them away for good.

But my other Self is scary, and I don't want to scare you.

[Anastasia remembers. She remembers how insignificant she felt looking at Abel's Other Self.]

"I'll be fine... When you change, I'll run for the other side."

[At least she understands. That confirms Abel that it's okay for him to use his powers, as long it's used as a tool for good.]

"All right, just turn around, walk far away from here, and turn off your phone. I don't want to blow it up due to a power surge."

[Anastasia turned off her phone before getting back to her feet, backtracking their path until she came to the door to the aviary, leaving the area and closing the door behind her. She went no further.

She ought to be safe from here.]

[Abel pushed his glasses up and summon roughly 15% of his powers as a Crusnik. The air around him changes, there is a slightly increased pressure in the air, and this change in the surrounding pressure make the birds sense that something dreadful is coming up. His black wings unfurled forth, as he would need them to use as his cover.

The birds, snapped their attention, their necks turning in tension toward the monster that is awaiting for them.

Hopefully Anastasia is safe, but if he's magically inclined, she could sense a raise of power from him, over a distance can she?]

[Anastasia was, over all, a poor judge of power. It was just the sheer size of Abel's wing span that intimidated her most the first time. She wouldn't dare open the door without him saying so, so she turns the door and presses an ear to it to try to hear what's going on on the other side.]

[The birds sensed the approaching man coming toward to them. Ooh, they don't like it, they don't like it and him at all. They don't want him to come any closer.

So as Abel is moving slowly toward the well, hoping the birds won't attack...

[An aggressive bird, seeing Abel as a threat to their colony attacked him with a vicious peck!]

[More birds followed by the leader bird to attack Abel, the invader! The struggle and battle to the well *intensifies* Abel is doing this for glory, for Genessia, to save the town, for the sheer madness of pure aviary masochism.]

[Cue lots of manly screaming from Abel! Not too worry, it's his battle cry for victory! Even with the birds pecking at him with their beaks and clawing at him viciously! The pain will make him feel much purer in his intentions!]

[But in all serious though, Abel used his wings to defend himself against the territorial birds vicious assault as he batted them away, knocking them off...and unfortunately, during the valiant struggle, much of the birds had died defending the colony from the intruder from the sheer force of Abel's strength in his wings.

The battle with the birds continued, until finally he made it to the well, and while the birds continued to fight him, trying to knock him off, they didn't succeed and eventually they did see Abel as the stronger opponent that after some time while he held his position by the well. They gave up and relented it.

Abel won the well. He pulled out his phone and called Anastasia to join him inside.]

[Anastasia's phone was still off. Once she could hear the noise had stopped, she opened the door a tiny bit and peeked out. Seeing Abel on the other side of the room, she opened the door wide enough for her to slip through.

She double timed it to Abel's side, her approach signaled by the rustled grass and crunching leaves.]

"Abel, are you okay? You're not hurt, are you?"

"I think so. But those birds, they are very... territorial."

[Well, the birds can argue that Abel is a very rude man. But then again, if others follow suit just to get to the well, it will be the same fate for them.]

"Anyway, the well."

[Abel lifted the cover for Anastasia to drink.]

"Come here and drink."

[Anastasia put the lid of the well back and turned to Abel. Rising on her toes, she reached up and lay her fingers tips on the sides of Abel's face, examining some marks she can see on him with caring eyes.]

"...Some of them got you, though. Are you sure it doesn't hurt?"

[Abel helped himself to drink, to note it's taste and essence, so he can document it on his phone. If you mean the scratches on his face, tiny open wound from the nasty pecks at his head.]

"Oh this? This is nothing. I can...heal myself if you give me some time."

[Before her eyes, his wounds closed up just like that. It's the strange power of his nanomacines flowing in his blood-stream.

Ahahaha, Abel slowly shies away from her curious touch.]

"How is the medicine? Do you feel any effects from it?"

[Anastasia stepped back to let him heal the small wounds. Upon his question, she looked back to the well.]

"I didn't drink yet. I was..." [Lowering her voice...] "too worried about you..."

[Abel rubbed the back of his neck nervously.]

"Like I said, don't worry about me. Vampires...um...they're not like humans. They can heal themselves. Though I'm not exactly a vampire, but something like that. I can't drink blood from humans or vampires here. Only the vampires indigenous in my world as they contain a specific...bacteria flowing int heir blood that I can eat. But I don't worry about my hunger much as I don't have the same hunger and thirsts of a traditional vampire that lives in Everglade."

[Then with a smile.]

"I'm more worried about you. Please drink, so your parents can see you feel better again. Your kingdom needs you, princess."

[Anastasia smiles brightly. She likes knowing she is cared about. She turns to the well and draws a drink, downing it quickly.

Before long, all the numbing and tingly feelings were all gone. She rubbed her hands together, then lightly touched her face. She ran her fingers through her hair and ran her hands over her clothes.

She giggled happily, feeling back to normal.]

[By her expression, it seem the medicine work, so Abel document her effects into his phone too. He doesn't have to ask how is she feeling because she looks happy.

Abel set to work by gathering materials to cover up the well, to protect the water from sunlight and other exposure of the surrounding environment.

And the fact that they had been here all day since this morning and the park is getting dark. The mayor warns to don't stay in the park after dark or it gets dangerous.

Abel will return tomorrow to find more of the wells, as four is not enough to cure the town.]

You know, Anastasia? I'm hungry. I know of a cafe in Genessia City where we can go and eat. Would you like to eat some dinner before I take you home?

"I would like that, yes."

[Before they begin to head out, Anastasia holds a hand out to Abel. Maybe she's hoping he'll hold her hand? Regardless, she feels closer to Abel after undertaking such a difficult task. Most of it was kind of fun.]

"Thank you for the help princess. I think, because we work together, this town can be saved."

[Which Abel did, holding her hand to guide her and escort her out of the town. Why not? It's a job well done. The sun is setting down with a deep orange.

There is hope for this town after all. But finding a cure doesn't take a day. It requires determination, effort, and a deep need to service the town. And there isn't enough volunteers, so Abel will happily return to the town tomorrow to continue his tasks. He wants to be of service to this city, and helping the town heal is the best way to do it.

For now, that promised dinner. Abel wanted to eat some many things. If anything, he craves a cheeseburger with fries and soda, at the end of the day.]
