Event Log (Finding the Cure)

Welcome to Happy Heights!
Attleton's premier amusement park!

Or at least it used to be.

Attleton's mayor has mentioned the unfortunate only access point to the items needed to make the tonic that will cure the tragic sense-depriving infection that's going around. They'd thought the disease was gone, so they hadn't bothered to maintain the area, but the wells are Happy Heights are the only place that's still going down to the aquifer. They could drill down but-- well, they don't have time for that before the disease really sets into permanence! The number of freak incidences and the decrepit state of the theme park will make it difficult to maneuver, but they've notified the electric company to turn the power on so that people can navigate their way through the park in order to gather the ingredients to make the cure.

Unfortunately, since it's been so long since the park's been opened, rain water and nature have all but wiped the park's map into illegibility. You're on your own for exploration and it's time to find at least four wells from different parts of the park. There are many, but none are a walk in the park to get to! They used to be part of a collection game kids could play when they came into the park.

The mayor warns everyone that the cure is incredibly sensitive to sunlight and oxygenation from the atmosphere- by the time a person can get four, the first extracted water will have their bioluminescence diminished. (And going to that park in the dark... it's too dangerous, he wouldn't recommend it!) It probably won't make it out of the park, so drink it right away! Good luck!

OOC NOTES: There will be different areas listed for different flowers that have soaked into the wishing wells' aquifer. Each area will have a couple of different scenarios you can play out- you're responsible for playing them out and you're welcome to have a blast with whatever you want to do! If you don't want to play it out but you did play sensory deprivation, feel free to handwave your character getting a cure, but remember: If you manage to have at least four different threads with 10 comments from your character, your character will receive an Attleton Charm ICly and for 'exceptionally valiant efforts' in eliminating the disease. (3 month prize claim limit puts this prize available until Dec. 21st.) To claim a charm, click here. Good luck!

Don't forget: If your character tampers with any of the things that are set up to get access to wells except when stated, the ride may explode or collapse, cutting off the well. Pretty unstable park, you know.

If your character wants to explore more of the park than where the wells are, they're more than welcome to. Feel free to make your own thread if you just want to have your character playing on any rides or doing things that they want- get creative, have fun, but the only areas with wells are those listed.

Athrun nodded in response to Weiss's question.

"I'm perfectly healthy. I'm here because I wanted to lend a hand."

Pause. Athrun remembered that he's currently holding Yang's hand. As soon as he realized that, he facepalmed.

"Pun not intended, of course."

"Well that's just great. At this rate, do you think everyone else from Remnant is around here somewhere?"

Now, three may not mean that there's going to be everyone, but it's still a good number of people.

"Hey, Weiss. Wanna help me and find us the well? You'd get the water too so kill two birds with one stone and all that."
whiteas: (Look you.)

Weiss gives Athrun a dirty look. That was a rude pun while holding hands with a one-handed girl, Athrun. Which is why she doesn't verbally respond to him and instead responds to Yang with a distinct tone of 'moving on from what he said.'

"It's just as good as wandering around trying to call for a deaf boy. Sure."

Hey, it's not like it was intentional. He even said, "pun not intended" and facepalmed. What more do you want from him, Weiss?

"All right, let's go. The path goes on this way."

Athrun took the lead, maintaining a firm grip on Yang's hand. There was only one path to go in their current location, so might as well walk down it.
beauty_burns_gold: (Are you sure?)

Well at least Yang can't see the byplay between the two. Less chances of the blonde running her mouth. Though Weiss might notice that Yang's not needing a hand as badly as she thinks, a glint of the dim light reflecting off her metal right arm.

"Alright, lead on you two. I'm really hoping there's no pitfalls or something..."
whiteas: (Not this again.)

Weiss figures just because you have a replacement doesn't mean you're okay with jokes being made about a missing arm or suddenly not feeling like it's missing. Of course she's not missing any limbs, so she can only guess.

"So far it just seems like old rusty equipment. The worst thing we'll run into is probably a couple of pop-out signs. The scariest part of the first thing I did with Jaune was trying to keep him from throwing up."

Weiss seems fine with going ahead. She'd rather be in front than behind two taller people holding hands.

Meanwhile Athrun just wants it clear that it was an accident.

"Throwing up? Do I want to know what prompted that?"

Athrun let Weiss take the lead, though he continued to remain as alert as he was physically capable of. "But yeah. So far, nothing out of the ordinary. Everything just looks like candy. Not real candy, naturally."
beauty_burns_gold: (I've got the winning cards)

"RIght...well let's hope that's all it is. I don't wanna have to deal with scraping my legs up even more."

It's pretty easy to tell that around her normally uncovered legs there's some thick bandages around them.

"Hah. Jaune still isn't good with motion sickness? And I'd hope it's not real candy. It'd smell horrible in here if it is."
whiteas: (Not this again.)

"Yang's right. And bumper boats aren't exactly the smoothest of rides."

It'd be covered in bugs if that were the case. "I don't think anyone thought it was real enough that you had to specify."

Bumper boats? That would definitely aggravate motion sickness.

"Better safe than sorry, right?" Athrun shrugged. "Besides, with this world, you never know what could happen. I'm sure we all remember the random teleportations, for example."
beauty_burns_gold: (Uhhh)

[personal profile] beauty_burns_gold 2016-10-22 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Mmm..Feel bad for him. Not fun getting sick like that. Besides, who knows what they'd make real or not in a run-down place like this. Maybe rotted candy smell is why it went out of business."

One too many late night club-hoppings can certainly bring that problem.

"...Jee, thanks for making me feel safer walking around blind, Athrun."

Last thing she wants is to end up teleporting who knows where with no one around.
whiteas: (Hmph.)

[personal profile] whiteas 2016-10-23 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Do you have to bring that up?"

Weiss looks a little crestfallen. her experience with the teleportation wasn't... one she wants to actively think about. It turned out fine after but it's still incredibly awkward and she's pretty sure it's a secret that was well kept by no one ever asking about it.

"If they had actual outdoor candy though, I'm sure bugs would've gotten to it long before it started smelling.."

"It was the first example that sprung to mind. I'm sorry."

Athrun grimaced as he continued to lead Yang along and follow Weiss. If only he could find something to say that wouldn't turn out wrong...

"That, too. Let's be grateful that's not the case." Because if it were, this would be a disease pit. He may be a Coordinator, but malaria could still threaten his life, enhanced immune system or not.

"Come to think of it, I just thought of something. Do the two of you have your communicators with you? We may have to split up if we reach a fork in the road."

Athrun had his with him, at least. He never left home without it.
