Event Log (Finding the Cure)

Attleton's premier amusement park!


Or at least it used to be.

Attleton's mayor has mentioned the unfortunate only access point to the items needed to make the tonic that will cure the tragic sense-depriving infection that's going around. They'd thought the disease was gone, so they hadn't bothered to maintain the area, but the wells are Happy Heights are the only place that's still going down to the aquifer. They could drill down but-- well, they don't have time for that before the disease really sets into permanence! The number of freak incidences and the decrepit state of the theme park will make it difficult to maneuver, but they've notified the electric company to turn the power on so that people can navigate their way through the park in order to gather the ingredients to make the cure.

Unfortunately, since it's been so long since the park's been opened, rain water and nature have all but wiped the park's map into illegibility. You're on your own for exploration and it's time to find at least four wells from different parts of the park. There are many, but none are a walk in the park to get to! They used to be part of a collection game kids could play when they came into the park.

The mayor warns everyone that the cure is incredibly sensitive to sunlight and oxygenation from the atmosphere- by the time a person can get four, the first extracted water will have their bioluminescence diminished. (And going to that park in the dark... it's too dangerous, he wouldn't recommend it!) It probably won't make it out of the park, so drink it right away! Good luck!

OOC NOTES: There will be different areas listed for different flowers that have soaked into the wishing wells' aquifer. Each area will have a couple of different scenarios you can play out- you're responsible for playing them out and you're welcome to have a blast with whatever you want to do! If you don't want to play it out but you did play sensory deprivation, feel free to handwave your character getting a cure, but remember: If you manage to have at least four different threads with 10 comments from your character, your character will receive an Attleton Charm ICly and for 'exceptionally valiant efforts' in eliminating the disease. (3 month prize claim limit puts this prize available until Dec. 21st.) To claim a charm, click here. Good luck!

Don't forget: If your character tampers with any of the things that are set up to get access to wells except when stated, the ride may explode or collapse, cutting off the well. Pretty unstable park, you know.

If your character wants to explore more of the park than where the wells are, they're more than welcome to. Feel free to make your own thread if you just want to have your character playing on any rides or doing things that they want- get creative, have fun, but the only areas with wells are those listed.

[ he shifted in the harness, trying to turn himself back over at jefferson's panicked request and not wanting the blood to keep rushing to his head.

he's swinging back and forth to get enough momentum to flip himself over that way. but the little shit unbuckles it off the line with the swinging and quickly drops five feet before jefferson caught up to him on the line.

so he grabs on to him. by the ankle. with one hand. ]

I said not right now! [ It only took about half of a second for him to realize how reckless Dave was being. Again. ] Are you kidding?! Don't do it that way, you'll make it even worse if you -- [ Even if he couldn't really feel he was almost positive his heart stopped for at least a millisecond before he called out to Dave. Thank god he caught up quickly enough because for a moment or two his brain function stopped entirely. ]

Oh my god. Oh my god. [ Jefferson was still a bit in shock, but he was in autopilot trying to pull his leg up and put his arms down so Dave could get a more solid grip on him. ] Are you -- are you trying to scare me to death? Is that what today is? Because if this keeps up I swear I -- [ Sudden dry laughter cut him off completely but it actually took a moment of time to register that the sound was coming from him. ] Oh my god. What even happened to the flying thing? Hahaha. This is one of the worst days of my life. Please stop letting me think you're going to die. Wow.

What? [ dave's dangling off of him and it doesn't seem to be the best grip in the world. just enough to keep him from hitting the floor at the moment - which he's not terribly worried about. ] I wasn't trying to scare you. I couldn't see what the fuck I was doing. Why are you laughing? Are you trying to scare me? [ dave makes a bit of a face, lips pressed together in a slight displeased frown. ]

Geez, Jeff. I didn't know you were so dramatic. Calm the fuck down. I'd be fine. I can't die unless it's heroic or fucking evil. This is just stupid. Now stop moving your leg. I'm trying to- mooootherfucker.

[ which is more or less what happens. he does actually drop off him once they're in the forested area full of trees, but luckily they're close enough to the ground that it does not, in fact, kill him. an uncomfortable land because he definitely didn't see the ground coming and hit it with his face, but it is not lethal. ]

You know what? Fuck it. I'm staying here.

[ Okay. He really did need to get a hold of himself. The idea of scaring Dave wasn't one that he liked the sound of even if he probably wasn't being serious. Was he? Maybe he was being half serious. Ugh. Jefferson exhaled sharply and tried to grab hold of the kid but getting a solid grip wasn't exactly easy. ]

Sorry. Sorry. I know you can't -- [ He let out a frustrated sigh. ] I'm moving it to try to pull you --

Even though he knew it was a small drop, even though he knew Dave would be fine, he still had to firmly keep a reign on himself so he didn't overreact again. Still, the second his feet hit the landing platform he was unhooking the harness so he could look down. ]

Like hell you're staying there! [ Aaand back to being dramatic. He did pause, though. ] ... are you alright?

No! I'm saying. [ dave is face down on the ground, mumbling incoherently into the floor. at least until the grate next to him suddenly spouts water and soaks him. he gets to his feet quickly with a high-pitched shriek in surprise. he holds his arms up, dripping. then gets hit with a different one.

look. he landed at the spring. yay. ]

Fuck this place, Jeff! I'm fine! It's just everything ever that is the absolute worst thing right now! JESUS DICK! Did we find that shitty spring? Get down here. I'm going to shove my foot up someone's ass.
