WHAT:
Costume Party
WHEN:
10/15/2016
WHERE: The Castle Royale Hotel, Genessia City.
WARNINGS: None.
The event space in the Castle Royale Hotel in Genessia City was decorated for this event. Fake cobwebs and skeleton decorations hung up among the many other different types of Halloween decorations. It took several hours to get it all decorated, but there was a decent amount of help in doing so. A DJ (Who is wearing a big bear costume) has been hired to handle the music to get people in a dancing mood.
The genre of music ranges over all types, but there was some Halloween themed music sprinkled in there to just set the mood when no one was hitting the dance floor. The event officially starts at 5PM, but the doors themselves open at 4PM. Though at that time, things are still being set up, but you won't be asked to leave if you decide to sit around and wait for it to start.
There is a minor police presence with GCPD staked out at the entrance way that leads toward the event space.
The refreshment table has many things to satisfy your sweet tooth with, many different kinds of cupcakes, fruit cups, lots of different types of cookies, caramel apple bites, brownies. There are plates and such at each end of the table as well as napkins. The catering service will constantly be refreshing the table as it gets low on food.
There are even many Halloween themed drinks. There are more traditional party items like fruit platters and the like scattered among all of the delectable food as well. There is a bar set up along one of the walls in the room with a bartender standing behind it for those looking for a more alcoholic type of beverage.
The tables among the ground floor and the balconies have all been decorated in a similar manner as the rest of the place with Halloween themed tablecloths on each table. There are small electronic, battery powered candles on each table. There is no actual flame on it, instead it is just a light shaped to look like one.
The dance floor doesn't have anything spectacular different about it. There is a small, light fog that coats it thanks to a fog machine just on the outside of it. Lights are hung above it to be used when the lights in the place go dim. The fog isn't so thick that you can't see your own feet, though.

Of course, it looked very out of place on the normally very plain mage, but he did his best. He certainly didn't have Hatter's lithe figure or neatly trimmed hair, but he at least was a decent height.
When he approached Fai he was reserved, with a small stack of papers in hand. But they were facing himself and Fai wouldn't be able to see what was on them.]
F... Fai...?
no subject
Ah, hi there. How are you? [He paused for a moment.] What are the papers?
no subject
[He didn't meet Fai's eyes the whole time, but he said the last part as if he needed to convince him that something could be scary without being deadly.
Finally, he nervously realized he wasn't actually letting him see the pictures, so he held them out. It was very much Halloween, but it wasn't just a haunted house or anything. It looked more like someone had rented an area that must have been a couple of miles wide and spent millions of dollars going all out for Halloween. He drew what he could remember of Hatter's fancy Halloween parties, from scary wooded areas to a large, towering mansion.]
E-Everyone always wanted to, to go every y-year, but... but no one got hurt. M-Maybe... Maybe E-Everglade could be like th-that, too. So that they... So that they w-want to go there to be scared, b-but no one has to get hurt.

[But it made sense that ne would think of something like that. And he agreed with it to an extent. However he was aware of one thing he had to honestly disagree with.]
While being scared does power the barrier, sadly some people do have to be hurt for others to survive in Everglade. There are methods for people to not get hurt like blood banks for vampires, but there are monsters in Everglade that simply have no alternative.
[He shrugged slightly.]
That is the way that world is. You can try and prevent it but at the risk of actually hurting another.

He got misty-eyed but held it in, choosing to stare at the floor instead. When he did finally speak, it was a quiet, pained murmur.]
I-I miss home...
no subject
[Fai didn't miss either home if he had to be honest. He just missed the people he travelled with. They were what he would consider his home after all this time. Which was odd considering.]
But because one misses home, doesn't mean one should change one place to suit there own wants and beliefs. Because if one does it could change this whole world for the worse. There is always that chance.
no subject
[He was obviously deflated, but this was something he couldn't understand. Race hadn't mattered at home.]
no subject
Faking something isn't the same as genuine fear and by them not getting along beings that.
[He knew it wasn't so much they might not get along. He had seen some who were opposites who did, but he knew it was an impossible thing for everyone to get along.]
Besides people normally have issues with others, even over little things. So it's impossible to make it happen anyway without forcing it with magic or something and that is honestly not right.
no subject
[None of it made sense to him. Why would someone even create a barrier like that? Why not power it with a different emotion? He could understand people not getting along, but murder was a whole different level.]
no subject
[He paused for a moment.]
Plus one person alone would be unable to generate enough power to cover a whole city. You'd need to have more than one use the exact same spell, which would mean you'd need someone who can go outside there normal kind of magic and learn in a short amount of time.
no subject
[His voice was getting difficult to hear over the rest of the party. He wasn't very good at debating, and he didn't have the confidence for it. There were few things he would continue fighting for, but trying to protect people was one of them.]
no subject
[He isn't saying it's impossible, he just knows people might have a limit like he knew he did when it came to certain types of magic.]
If you think they can, then you'd simply need a spell that can be used extremely quickly as the other barrier would fall. By quickly I literally mean couple seconds. Then you'd need to figure out how to get the barrier to spread out evenly.
[He paused.]
There is actually a lot one has to think about before trying something that big. Which is probably why no one has ever actually come up with a good alternative. Because one might start on a possible, but find out something is wrong and it wouldn't work.
no subject
Wh-Why would they have to do... to do it so fast?
no subject
[And he wouldn't want that to happen again and see a bunch of emotionless people.]
no subject
no subject
Unless you could put it just below of it, of course. But that would require calculations really like how high up the barrier actually is and how high you would need to get the other. Even magic needs to have precise calculations to use sometimes.
no subject
[Since he actually knew someone like that he felt more hopeful. He knew there were mathematicians in the world, and surely not only his world.]

There is working together, just not on the barrier itself.
no subject
He smiled hopefully.]
Th-Then, I'll help p... pay for it, if it needs money!
no subject
[He sounded slightly confused right now.]

[And he was feeling confident that people would be found. It didn't sound so bad. They just needed a magic user who could create a barrier and a mathematician. There had to be some of those around! And maybe someone who could fly, and there were many of those.]
