WHERE: The Castle Royale Hotel, Genessia City.

The event space in the Castle Royale Hotel in Genessia City was decorated for this event. Fake cobwebs and skeleton decorations hung up among the many other different types of Halloween decorations. It took several hours to get it all decorated, but there was a decent amount of help in doing so. A DJ (Who is wearing a big bear costume) has been hired to handle the music to get people in a dancing mood.
The genre of music ranges over all types, but there was some Halloween themed music sprinkled in there to just set the mood when no one was hitting the dance floor. The event officially starts at 5PM, but the doors themselves open at 4PM. Though at that time, things are still being set up, but you won't be asked to leave if you decide to sit around and wait for it to start.
There is a minor police presence with GCPD staked out at the entrance way that leads toward the event space.
The refreshment table has many things to satisfy your sweet tooth with, many different kinds of cupcakes, fruit cups, lots of different types of cookies, caramel apple bites, brownies. There are plates and such at each end of the table as well as napkins. The catering service will constantly be refreshing the table as it gets low on food.
There are even many Halloween themed drinks. There are more traditional party items like fruit platters and the like scattered among all of the delectable food as well. There is a bar set up along one of the walls in the room with a bartender standing behind it for those looking for a more alcoholic type of beverage.
The tables among the ground floor and the balconies have all been decorated in a similar manner as the rest of the place with Halloween themed tablecloths on each table. There are small electronic, battery powered candles on each table. There is no actual flame on it, instead it is just a light shaped to look like one.
The dance floor doesn't have anything spectacular different about it. There is a small, light fog that coats it thanks to a fog machine just on the outside of it. Lights are hung above it to be used when the lights in the place go dim. The fog isn't so thick that you can't see your own feet, though.

[ Ayame was almost puzzled at the revelation. Still the jacket looks decent for a store-bought, machine-stitched outerwear thanks to Xander's relaxed and straight posture, and it could have fooled her. ]
Actually, I've seen some around in Genessia City. They're good, but I've seen better... and it is criminal that they charge far too much.
[ Ayame crosses her arms slightly, showing the same degree of poise as Xander does in how she stood holding her glass in her hand. ]
If you ever need quality clothes for a good price, you can talk to me. It's a shame, a man with your shoulders wearing such cheap garment? It's almost depressing.
[ Ayame gives a mock pout and a tilt of her head, just as she feels the tingles in her fingers already. She is pretty good at making almost all sorts of clothing, as evident in how detailed her costume is. But bespoke suits for men and women are one of her specialties in making. ]

I see you're already working on your sales pitch. That certainly is one approach.
[Fortunately, he's more amused than anything.]

[ Ayame gives a small bow, almost like a curtsy with how she's holding her drink in one hand. ]
So, did you come here alone?
[ Hey, if she's getting Xander as a potential customer, might as well get a bargain and meet more people from his world or friends he's met here ]9

To this party? Yes, I came by myself. I'm still in the process of meeting people in Genessia, since I'm a relatively recent arrival myself.
[That would further explain why he chose to come to this party. There are loads of people to meet here.]

[ Ayame has been in Genessia for officially 13 days at this point. Traveling to other worlds is just Tuesday to her, but settling in one place for a long time as a civilian? That's the tough part. Even with those thoughts, all Ayame showed was a quick glance to the side before focusing her attention back to Xander ]

[It's hard to believe how time flies sometimes.]

[ Ayame answered with a resigned half-smile that matched the tone of her words. Her demeanor remains composed however. ]
Don't get me wrong. In that brief amount of time, I realize I am growing to love this world more and more each day, and honestly, I find it more peaceful here than the world I came from. It's a place where I can be myself, and learn and discover new things without having to worry about meeting expectations from my family or the next battle.
[ The way she used "battle" could be taken figuratively. But it's actually quite literal in her case. Ayame has retired from service and lived in the more peaceful areas of Japan afterwards, but as a Sasaki, she still feels the pressure of living up to expectations and being there in case the world needs her again. In here, she has none of that. It's still something she's getting used to ]
I understand not everyone would feel that way though... You seem to be doing just fine, but is that the two months of adjusting I'm seeing, or is this world just like where you came from?

[Xander looks to change the subject. Fortunately there was a question that Ayame asked he can instead focus on.]
Mostly the former. However, the environment of Fayren is quite similar to that of my home, so I have had an anchor, so to speak. How does it compare to your own home, in terms of the setting?

Simply put, Nova City is my Fayren. It is very much like my own world with the soaring skyscrapers and machines that permeate daily life. So much in fact there is a subarchway in the city that leads to a piece of my world. I was surprised to find out about it just recently.

[Xander looks surprised himself. That was information he wasn't expecting to hear. As for her being more comfortable in Nova City, he could at least understand that. If there's anything that Genessia had taught him, it was that there were all kinds of people and worlds out there.]
In that case, that would mean you're not alone from your own realm, would it not?

[ Ayame's eyes glances down for a fraction of a second. Microscopic changes in the look of her eyes showed sadness, but she manages to remain composed overall ]
On my arrival here, I found out the gate was opened by someone I knew. He vanished from this world long before I woke up in the Bay, and I saw his name carved on Memoria Park among the others.
[ Ayame shakes her head, trying to scoff off her thoughts ]
Subarchways re-open when someone from the same world arrives here. It's just... in my case, it opens to place I barely know anymore.
[ She had stayed in Dubai, briefly. Even operating a tailor shop there as a front business, hiding a secret access point to the massive undersea complex of the Spiral Consortium's paramilitary arm. But those are years ago. The Dubai she knew is long gone ]

[ Ayame shoots him a gentle half-smile to reassure Xander. She finds him to be a little tense despite his trained grace. It was curious and amusing at the same time ]
But one of these days, perhaps I shall... It's simply hard to stay in that place for longer than I need, when it brings so many memories. It can be overwhelming.
