[ Food not being fulfilling was more than enough to cause panic. She knew what she had to do to fulfill herself- it wasn't as if vampires were exactly a mystery when it came to the basics. But trying not to make things bad for Mercury was proving more than difficult. She was starting to resent him for trying to keep his record clear. She knew why. He valued his freedom, but to Emerald it felt like a waste. It felt like she'd lost a partner and now he a roommate. She still wouldn't rather be around anyone else here, but it didn't make her less frustrated about it. She still held a tiny bit of resentment toward him for refusing to go after Cinder with her too. It was adding up and leaving her more restless than she should be.
Between her absolute refusal to go hungry (even the start of the feeling was unsettling considering what she used to live with) and that, she had headed out after it looked like Mercury had gone to bed, slamming the door behind her just to annoy him. She doubted he would follow.
Now just to find someone who looked like no one would miss and like they wouldn't leave a bad taste in her mouth. ]

[ Whatever she was going to say, it was cut off by her suddenly breaking out into a coughing fit. She didn't really need to breathe, but it was more of a reflexive reaction than actually trying to get a breath. It was like she was having some kind of allergic reaction to Jaune's blood. Whatever was in it, whatever he had become it was clear that she shouldn't have been eating it.
Some of it had already started absorbing through the lining of her mouth, throat, and stomach, so even as she quickly stumbled over to the bushes to start heaving, it was only barely helping. She probably got enough out to stop herself from dying, but there was something clearly wrong with her. She may not need to breathe and her heart wasn't beating, but her head ached worse than when she tried to stretch her semblance and before long her vision was starting to black out. She couldn't even concentrate enough to use her semblance to tell Jaune that she needed help or ask him what the hell he did to her, and after a short time, she fell to her side. ]

[Okay. This reaction was alarming. It was almost as if she was acting like...
She had gotten sick.
Liv's warning seems to make so much more sense now, and maybe he shouldn't be panicking and rushing to her, but that's what he does because he was trying to help and people have gotten hurt or died and as much as he can't stand her he can't have her life in his hands too.]
Emerald! What's wrong, what--
[She isn't moving. He feels for a pulse, but there's nothing. She isn't breathing and it's his fault. He freezes, and just grabs her, holding her in his arms and flying back to their house.
When people died here, they were taken somewhere so they could be revived. No one had shown up yet, and she hadn't disappeared. He still had to try. He would keep trying until he couldn't anymore.
Luckily, someone left a window open and he flies through it, dumping Emerald on the couch and looking around for the nearest person. It's Weiss who is lucky enough to deal with a panicked Jaune.]
Weiss, please, I need your help. I think I hurt the enemy and I feel kinda bad about it.
no subject
What are you talking about?
no subject
I was-- [Wait. Lowering his voice.] Maybe it's just best if I show you. She's in the lounge.
no subject
[ God, what did he do? Weiss sighs and gets out of bed, following Jaune. Once out of Nora-range, she raises her voice to a normal level. ]
What's going on, Jaune? You-
[ And then she saw Emerald. ]
You have got to be kidding. What is she doing here? This isn't a bed and breakfast, get rid of her.
no subject
He's glad he didn't ask Blake.
Blake would probably kill her.]
The breakfast part is kind of what's wrong. She's a vampire, apparently, and we talked and...I don't know. I couldn't just let her starve, so I offered her my blood and then she got sick and passed out and I don't know if she's dead or not.
no subject
Let her starve. She's the reason Penny is dead, she'd deserve it.
[ Okay, no. Deep breath. Weiss grits her teeth for a moment, closing her eyes, then opens them. ]
Why wouldn't you take her to a hospital? Or where she actually lives and let Mercury deal with it?
no subject
What do you mean?
[He's definitely more tense now.]
I don't know where she lives. It's not like we're best friends and I hang out at her place all the time. And sorry but I wasn't exactly thinking clearly because I thought I might have killed her.
no subject
[ She sighs, looking back over to Emerald and holding her right arm with her left hand. ]
So what are you planning on doing here? You can't keep her in our living room until you see which way she goes, Yang and Blake are likely to kill her if they see her and I wouldn't blame them.
no subject
[He lifts his hands to his head, stepping away from his friend, and his enemy on the couch. He has to create some space between himself and them. Suddenly the room feels a lot smaller.
What happened to Pyrrha--
Did she even know? Had she learned what had happened, leaving him in the dark? Again? Or had she lived with the guilt while here; he knew she had back on Remnant, and the fact that he's so livid that no one told him, and he could easily take out the person who did it, right now, and Weiss would probably allow him is overwhelming.
Either he forgets what hour it is, or he just doesn't care. He punches the wall, biting back a scream, and crumbles against it before punching it again. His back is still turned when he speaks. He doesn't know if he can look at anyone in the eye right now.]
I don't know. I said I would help. I can't let her die after that, and you weren't there. You didn't hear what she said. But I could. Do you know how easy it would be?
Do you know what I want to do right now?
no subject
[ She doesn't get it. Whatever Jaune's talking about, she's not sure if Emerald pulled a fast one on him or if there was some legitimate reason. But more than that.. ]
You did this, I'm not going to let you become her killer just because you were trying to help. So you probably shouldn't tell me what you want to do right now and try skipping ahead to whatever we're actually going to do. The longer we argue here the less time she probably has if this is fatal. So what's the plan, Jaune?
no subject
[It would be easier to accept if she had the chance to live knowing what happened wasn't her fault.
He remains silent and shuts his eyes for a moment, leaning against the wall. When he turns to face her, he's still obviously agitated, and putting lot of effort into pushing it aside.]
We're going to feed Emerald. [Pause, then he elaborates.] She drank some of my blood and I think that might have poisoned her, because she got sick. She probably needs human blood to get rid of the toxic stuff, or at least heal her faster. I'm not sure if her Aura will help but she hasn't moved, so we're going into this assuming not.
no subject
[ She hadn't really told anyone besides other Guardians, who needed to know in case of emergency. ]
And whose blood are you volunteering?
no subject
Maybe he just thought I was too stupid to understand and not attack her.
[He doesn't answer immediately, but the hesitant way he stares at her should give her a hint.]
I'll buy you a smoothie every day and clean the house and even do my laundry for you.
no subject
[ Weiss gives him a look that almost looks apologetic. ]
Jaune, I can't. Sun's been drinking mine, I'll end up in the hospital if I try to feed her too.
no subject
[His expression falls, and he looks down at Emerald, clearly guilty.]
I guess I'll take her to the hospital. It's the fastest option.
no subject
[ She's not really sure what else to suggest for a moment. It was good plan, even if she didn't particularly like the idea of giving her blood up for Emerald of all people. But Sun had been drinking her enough that he already felt dizzy sometimes. ]
You can't just call Mercury? I'm sure his number's on her phone. If she's like Sun right now, she won't need to breathe and her heart isn't going to beat anyway. [ She knows she suggested it, but the more she thinks about it.. ] I'm not sure anyone at the hospital is going to know what to do with that.
no subject
[He stares at Weiss incredulously.] I can't go looking in her pockets, Weiss. You have to draw the line somewhere. [He glances back at Emerald, slumping a little in relief.] So this is a normal vampire thing? But I don't know where else to go. [He puts his hands on his hips, thinking now.]
no subject
[ Wait wait wait wait- ]
Are you telling me you let her get all over you to drink your blood but you can't do this? [ Weiss is already heading over to pat Emerald down. It's not like she cares. If Emerald's unconscious she won't even notice, probably. She decidedly has no idea exactly how Jaune let Emerald drink and is pretty much assuming it was similar to how Sun's been drinking her. Once she finds the phone, she gives him an exasperated look and holds it out. ] Here. You make the call. I'll back up your story.
no subject
She also got Penny killed and apparently doesn't care. Thinking like this is giving him a headache.] Besides, Ironwood said he's okay with cool uniforms. So he's different.
I didn't let her get all over me. I wouldn't have let her even if she was dying. But this is-- [More intimate to him and he shouldn't be thinking about Weiss now but now he's thinking about Weiss and he's staring vacantly, not registering the phone until she speaks.] Huh? Oh. I guess this is our only choice.
[Today is just a day full of regretful choices. He scrolls through her phone, finds the number, and calls it.] ...Maybe you should talk to him?
no subject
[ She looks a little confused. ] How did you do it? Sun just.. pulls me in and drinks from my neck. It's faster that way since the jugular's right there and he can hold me in case I get dizzy so I don't fall or hit my head or anything. I wouldn't let him do it unless we were sure he wasn't going to hurt me. I mean obviously you weren't the one who got hurt here but...
[ She can't see any way to really protect against that stuff without it getting intimate. ]
You said you did a bounty together, you've probably got a more positive relationship with him than I do.
no subject
[He grimaces. Listening to Weiss' explanation is actually somewhat physically painful.] Why would you tell me that? I didn't let her anywhere near my neck, but I had to cut myself and control my Aura so I wouldn't heal before she finished. I'm serious, I don't need to imagine two of my very good looking friends doing that. And now I'm imagining it. Great. [Except Weiss is dressed...differently in his imagination.]
Maybe. But you're the one who made sure no one would attack him without consequence.
no subject
Wha- I told you because safety is important. [ Her eyes narrow and she gives Jaune a look like he just said something offensive. ] He was eating, it wasn't like that. You know, I knew you were odd at times I didn't think you were a pervert.
Then put it on speaker.
no subject
I'm not? I-- [He holds his head and backs away.] It's just weird. Not you and Sun, but you and Sun while I'm an incubus. I figured out what I needed to eat, and it's different. But I guess we're all good enough friends to drink eachother's blood.
Oh. Right. [Putting it on speaker.]
no subject
Yes, we are. [ She makes a little annoyed huffing sound. ] What an incubus needs and what a vampire needs are two very different things, Jaune! Don't make it sound like I'm not being a good enough friend because I'm not--! [ She's definitely, definitely mad at him right now for even implying that. Enough that she clearly forgot it was late at night and raised her voice and had to cut herself off because of it. ]
[ She quiets down while it starts ringing, crossing her arms. ]
