I. A King's Legacy [video | action] Genessia City
[A quiet gasp escapes Regis once the phone suddenly turns on after a moment or two of fiddling around with it. He makes an odd figure upon the camera, especially since he's accidentally holding the phone upside down. It takes a moment for the regal gentleman to realize his mistake but once he does, he turns it right up again.
The King of Lucis wears no gold. There's hints of silver in his hair in the form of a horn-like crown, silver upon his clothing and hints of silver mixed within those bright sea green eyes. However, he wears no gold. He fits the appearance of a 'lord' of some kind either way by just his demeanor alone. Certainly not your average looking old codger at least. Though, he certainly looks particularly vexed as he stares into this phone.
Regis doesn't know what to make of this strange phenomenon and it shows in his glare.]
Tell me, is it customary for holograms to greet newcomers?
[There's a dry laugh that follows. The sarcasm is heavy.]

Re: video
I will find you as quickly as I can. Please do not wander. I promise, I am very fast.
[More so without his armor. Warm coat, hat and boots sure, but those don't really measure up to the power armor.
But he was serious, in about fifteen minutes, here came Reinhardt, with a spare coat as well, should Regis be in need of it.]
Re: video
This is the first time I've seen snow in a long time. [He acknowledges aloud with the faintest of smiles.] Lucis was never one for snow. The closest thing to winter I've ever tasted was the frost within the wind. Nothing more.
[He peeks back at the elderly chap upon the screen.]
I shan't wander. You have my word.

But, here he is, spare coat draped over an arm, snow starting to collect in his beard and hair as he smiles and extends the cost to the other man ]
Danke for your patience, mein herr

The king gawks at Reinhardt from behind the crystal-like barrier he forged from his magic. Fifteen minutes within the blistering cold is enough for a man to catch hypothermia, so Regis thought to create a paling around himself to provide at least some warmth as he waits. There's snow collected upon the top of this dome-like shield, just a light dusting at best. Reinhardt kept to his promise and arrived fairly quickly with a warm winter coat for him in tow.
As the odd white glow fades within Regis' hands begins to fade, the magical shield around him starts to shatter into a dozen or so shards. The glass shards never hit the ground but instead rain down like gentle raindrops all around him.]
No, I should be the one bestowing gratitude onto you, noble sir.
[He takes the coat with a gracious bow despite his bad knee.]
After experiencing the worst men do unto each other in times of strife, it...it brings me some joy to meet someone who is eager to assist me. I'm humbled.

He'd sussed out, from the state and make of the other mans attire, and the way he carried himself, that he must be important. What rank or title he carried was unknown, but it wouldn't have mattered. Respect was respect. The magic, or technology? It was so hard to tell... was fascinating in and of itself, and he watched as the shield shatters and the glow fades, clearly impressed.]
Unhappy people make unhappy choices.
Come, I will fix what I can of that.
[Cure unhappiness as best he can!]
I do not live in a grand home, but it is comfortable.

[Even though he honestly should hate Aldercapt and the Empire both for all the evils they've done to him, Regis cannot help but pity them instead. He's sad. So sad. His melancholy is almost tangible since he knows his world of Eos will be forever changed by the wills of lesser men.]
It's sickening.
[Regis mutters to himself as he puts on the coat. Thank goodness for it. The chill of his dreadful day seeps into his bones.]
You're quick to offer not only your aid but your home to a stranger, good sir. I am truly thankful by your boundless kindness but I would like to know my savior's name.

[Pondering on harder times wasn't really helpful in settling in and getting comfortable after all. There was sympathy in there, he truly felt a great measure of it for the man, even if his story wasn't entirely known to him.
Come, come, out of the snow, ja?
My name is Reinhardt Wilhelm, mein herr. What would yours be?
no subject
He simply can't. Focusing upon the past makes a man blind to the present but the wounds, they're still fresh.]
Right. [A sigh leaves him once he opens his eyes. He gives Reinheart an apologetic smile as he introduces himself.] Sir Wilhelm, you have my deepest gratitude.
I'm Regis Lucis Caelum but please, call me Regis.
[No titles today. No more titles. Regis just wants to be freed of needless pleasantries for a day.]

[He gestures, and starts to lead the way. His room was no longer free, he'd been here past the month, but it was cheap! He'd... yet to find proper employment of his own.]
You will also find a room for you where I am taking you. For one month, it is free to live in. They are not large... but they are warm.

Honestly, where is this behemoth from? He's certainly not Lucian and is far too kind to be a Niff. Therefore, could it be that Reinhardt hails from beyond that of Eos? Seems that way since Regis doubts this man is a native of this city.]
If they're at least warm, then I shan't complain. [A pause.] Much.
[He's slightly joking.]
Tell me, where are you from, Wilhelm? Your accent...it gives you away. It's easy for me to tell you're not a citizen here.
no subject
He laughs]
Not much complaint is better than always complaining!
I am from Germany, Herr Regis. It is quite a far ways away from here, so I am told, beyond reach if you believe what others tell you.

...nngh. [The sharp ache finally makes him wince a bit more. He takes a brief moment to collect himself before regaining his steps.]
Germany? [He stares owlishly at Reinhardt.] Indeed, it sounds quite far. Tell me, what is your homeland like? You are indeed the tallest man I ever seen. Are all of your kind...this tall?
