A Box of Assorted Sonico

A: Video: *Sonico appears on the screen with a big smile and bright eyes, and she even gives the camera a shy wave* Good morning, everyone! I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone here for how good and kind you have been. The fundraiser was a huge success, and I want to thank everyone for their kind words about my performance. I would also like to thank everyone for your thoughtful Christmas gifts. I was so shocked and suprised! I am so grateful to have met such generous friends. She takes a moment here to bow her head for a second or two to prove her gratitude. Suddenly, there's a small growl and a bundle of fluff appears, bouncing in front of the camera. Sonico looks up and laugh, and scoops the creature into a hug* And this is Meiji, my new kitten. Thank you, Koishi for being so thoughtful. *Yeah, Sonico looks at the cat like she's in love. There does seem to be something curious about her new kitten, though....

B: Action - Bar: This, unfortunately, appears to be a bit of a tradition for Sonico now. Another friend has disappeared. One who looked after her, and cared for her when she was house bound with broken ribs. One who tried to understand her, and consider her emotions. It hurts that he's gone now, so Sonico has found herself in a small bar, nursing a beer and staring at the table in front of her.

C: Action - Nova Mall: As soon as Sonico found out about Grell's Foundation for orphaned and disadvantaged children, Sonico was desperately keen to be involved. An orphan herself, she knows how difficult life can be. Not everyone has an awesome grandmother to take care of them. In order to raise awareness, and hopefully raise some money for the charity, Sonico sits up a little concert in Nova mall. Anyone nearby or casually shopping can pop in and enjoy the show! Sonico is on stage with a band, complete with her own electric guitar this time - thank you, Arro! - and is performing something very different from last time. This is for kids, so the show is in full on pop rock mode. The songs are punchy and fun, upbeat and catchy. To match, Sonico has gone cute with her costume too. Fun for all the family. Enjoy! Donate! Feel your heart go out to the orphans every time Sonico appeals between songs!

Tannusen grins, showing off the oddness of his teeth. The upper and lower canines are just-- there's something off about them. One can't quite put a word to it. Something missing? But they look fine...

...Maybe.

"Velvet Lust is larger, cleaner," he glances around the bar they're in, this time assessing the place as a proprietor, instead of simply sipping tea in it. "VL has a lot more dark, polished wood, with metal accents. A few pool tables with immaculate greens. The tables all have little menus on them, for the more popular drinks and the few food items we sell. The bar takes up most of one wall, and the stage most of another, caddy-corner so no one has to turn their back on any performances to order drinks."

His gaze settles on some of the other patrons of this place.

"The clientele is over-all better." But, he's biased. He likes his irregular group of regulars, even that weirdo Buddhist priest with the braid. Owning Velvet Lust had been halfway a joke at first, back on Earth, but it had been quick to get into his blood.

Of course, he says that loud enough that he can be heard, because he doesn't care. A few of the ruder men over yonder bristle visibly, and Tannusen just smiles at them until they settle back down. Brawling with the tiger is not a fight most people really want to pick.

"It's a gay bar," he finishes, looking at Sonico again. "So most of the clientele aren't straight. Doesn't mean you'll never get hit on, by any gender, but I don't let people get too creepy... downstairs."

Upstairs, is another matter.

Sonico watches his grin for a moment, returning it with a small smile of her own - she isn't one for grinning. But she doesn't stare long, because that would be rude, instead choosing to take a long drink of her beer.

"It sounds like a very nice bar. Probably too...elegant for someone like me." She does seem quite intrigued at the idea of the performances, but holds her tongue as she isn't exactly sure it would be a place for her.

She sits up straighter as he makes his comment, but shrinks back in her seat at any sign there might be trouble. But then she focuses on Tannusen again - how can there be trouble when his other form is a huge tiger? At least, no trouble for him anyway.

"Well, that is always good to know, thank you. It doesn't matter to me what sexuality the customers are - I don't go to bars looking for partners anyway."

"Too elegant for someone like you?" Tannusen repeats, raising an eyebrow. "You'll have to clarify that one."

"Well, for people who are more high-class...than someone like me." She glanced down at herself as she said so. By 'someone like her' she meant a girl sitting drinking a light beer wearing a tshirt and denim shorts and a pair of boots. She looked cute enough, sure, but she clearly hadn't dressed to impress.

"Nonsense," Tannusen scoffs at the notion, "is this because I'm dressed up? Don't let it fool you, my staff are usually just in whatever is comfortable for them."

Hell, his security guard was a giant rock woman who wore whatever colorful, crazy thing she could find that would fit. Meanwhile, his event manager wore head-to-toe leather. The fake people who made up the rest of his staff wore whatever boring, forgettable things they usually wore. It ran a gamut, and that was just the staff. The clientele could be even more varied.

"You'd fit in in a full radiation suit, a ball gown, or a bikini. I picked the central city for a reason; variety. It's really not a big deal."

"Oh - that's nice to know. It sounds like a very welcoming place. During the day, if I'm working, I spend so much time dressed up and stlyed... So by evening, if I'm alone, I prefer to look...well, like this." Feeling she had spoken too much, Sonico picked up her bottle and finished what was left. "Maybe it wouldn't be too bad to turn up sometime..."

"Well, I'm obviously very biased toward the place," Tannusen chuckles, toying with his cup of tea, "but I think it's fine to go there and to be comfortable at the same time."

Sonico sips the last of her beer and puts the bottle down on the table, pushing it slightly aside. "Then maybe I'll have to have to go along some time and see what it's like. Although..."

She picks up a beer mat and starts toying with it between her fingers, "I tend to only go drinking like this on my own when a friend leaves."

Ah, and there it was. The reason his stupid pooka nature had dragged him over to the small pink human despite his knowing better, intellectually, than to get involved.

"Well, you're friends with Trahearne. Drag him there." See? Easy solution.

And... totally not helpful.

"I don't know... Trahearne didn't seem very sure about it before. I don't know how either of us would fit in..."

Because now she has this bizarre mental image of herself and her tree friend sitting drinking tea and reading books while...while all sorts of debauchery goes on around them. Okay, that is enough to make her giggle. "Oh dear. I'm not very good at this socialising thing. But maybe I could try. It might be fun. Maybe?"

"Well, I'm certainly not going to force you," Tannusen chuckled, "I'm not half that desperate for clientele. Being the only gay bar ran by a real person, Velvet Lust does pretty good for itself."

"Oh! No, you wouldn't be forcing me at all. You might be forcing Trahearne, though, if you dragged him there. I think he had a hard enough time at the singles event." She knows she sure found that a tricky event to socialise at. "It might be nice to just know there's a place to go to..if I need a drink."

Tannusen laughed gently at that, because if he hadn't forced -- tricked, rather -- Trahearne out of his comfort zone a few times by now, the tree would possibly have never met Sonico!

"Trahearne's someone who needs a bit of goading, here and there." To put it lightly.

Fortunately for the sylvari, he'd taken in someone who had no problems with a certain level of boundary-pushing. It'd even been his job, a time or twelve.

Yes, and the same would be true of Sonico going absolutely anywhere. If her friends back home, and even some of the new ones here, didn't drag her out and make her go places, then she'd nevergo anywhere. So she flushes a little at his comment about having to goad Trahearne.

"Hmm...I suppose...that's one way how he and I are quite similar." She smiles sheepishly at admission, and tries to shrug to show it's not big deal, when really it kind of is.

"Really? You're shy?" Oh, you are so not helping by teasing the poor girl, Tannusen.

Oh, dear, no, he definitely isn't, because of course that makes Sonico blush in her embarrassment as she puts the beer mat down on the table, trying not to fidget with it. "Hmm...Maybe? I don't know..." Or, basically, painfully, yes.

"Don't worry, it's cute," Tannusen really wasn't above teasing the shit out of someone to distract them from their sadness!

"Cute...?" Sonico just stares at him a moment in disbelief, then taking a moment to figure out if maybe he's making fun of her. That being shy is cute doesn't seem to compute with her. "It is? Not...annoying? Or frustrating?"

The tiger laughed at that, though the sound was gentle enough. "No, remember -- I live with Trahearne."

Clearly, such things didn't bother him!

Sonico smiled, though still a little bashful about all of this. "That is true. And Trahearne is very lovely. He's so friendly." Then she settled back against her seat, somewhat more relieved. "Back home, I was told a lot that being shy was a bad thing."

"Why's that?" The tiger's brow furrowed a little. "It seems to me that's just how some people are."

Hell, even Tannusen was shy in the right circumstances! It just wasn't part of what he presented to the world at large.

"I think...some people see that shy people are scared. Or strange. That they're not living life enough." She glanced at her bottle, wishing that there was some beer left, but she's started so she might as well continue, though she became a little quieter. "And in my line of business...some have said it's a setback and holding back my career..." Though the way she looked as she said it, it didn't seem as though she thought it mattered all that much.

"Mn, I think anyone who claims they're never shy about anything is just lying to themselves," Tannusen shrugged. "And it's your career, not theirs."

If Sonico didn't think it was holding her back, then that was that. Or such was the tiger's opinion.

"I suppose most people have experienced what it's like to be shy." So saying, Sonico bowed her head and started fidgeting with the hem of her skirt. She looked up finally, and tried I smile. "You're right about that to. You're very helpful.."

"Well, I try... once in a while. I get my quota in, and then I go back to being an asshole cat," Tannusen smiled, and took a drink of his tea. He was only half joking. Maybe not even half.
