[ action | closed ] terrible things happen to good people every day

xxxxxxxxxx"Consequentially, I am not one of the good people.
xxxxxxxxxxI am one of the terrible things."

Who: Cassian Lynch, Trahearne, Abel Nightroad, Tannusen (and possibly more, will add as needed)
What: Multiple threads involving the Quiet Minds event and its aftermath.
When: First thread is on Friday the 13th. Subsequent threads are anything from a few hours to over a week later.
Warnings: A LOT. Graphic violence and gore, on-screen character death and dismemberment, cannibalism, attempted sexual assault, mentions of past assault, and more angst in the aftermath than you can shake a tree at.

He will have to agree on that. Microwave dinners have made the chore of cooking a lot easier. He's kind of been living off of ricearoni for like... over fifty years.

It's more flavorful than what he could make.

"Yes, that will be fine." He's not exceptionally picky anyway. What's that about expiration dates? That's a government conspiracy to make you buy more garbage.

Trahearne hasn't been here long enough for much to go bad. That hasn't stopped him from hoarding canned food like the nervous, jumpy tree that he is though. So some things are just dusty. He didn't know what to do with the jar.

He set the jar and the salt down, he was going to try to prevent further mess. No need to make more of an idiot of himself.

"Right, good. I should- ah, I'll get some bowls I guess." Really he just wanted to keep moving, he wanted to be pacing like Cassian was a few minutes ago.

Well eat the stuff in it of course.

A bit of salt is added to the water, and when it boils, in go the noodles. He's just trying to pop open the sauce jar.

"... Yes I... well yes that would be a good idea."

And now we are back to worrying!

Trahearne paused, bowls in hand, and glanced over at Cassian. The distraction was failing, curse it all. Coming up with solutions was more his forte, not sitting and waiting. But here they were, sitting and waiting.

"I know very little of you Cassian, aside from that you know Tannusen and are 'catholic'," he said calmly, not letting any of his own worry show in his voice. "He has mentioned you reside in Everglade, which makes me curious. Why there? Especially with the recent situation involving the city guardians, I would imagine few would want to live there at all."

He couldn't convince Cassian to pick a topic to talk about, maybe he could talk about something anyway. Something to draw his attention, hopefully.

"He's not told me much of you, either. Other than you are a tree." He stirs the noodles a bit, absent.

"Everglade.... reminds me of home, actually. It's very close to how I recall my own home being for the longest time. Fog and all." There's a soft, weak laugh attached to that. "I really should move out, there's no point in being stubborn and sticking around. I can't move the subgate though, and that is where I live there. If I could just pick up the entire thing and push it somewhere else, I'd do it in a heartbeat."

"Maybe that is for the best, I'm not sure what he'd say about me." Very little that was factual, surely.

"Not wanting to leave what little bit of home you have here is understandable." Trahearne had considered a subgate before but what would it do him but make him miss those he couldn't return to more? "One would have to be quite capable to live there I imagine, even withen a subgate. It reminds me of a place a travelled a great deal in on my own world. I wouldn't call it like home, however."

"He seemed fond of you." From... what he could tell at least. He wasn't exactly sure what the specifics were but... fond!

"Understandable yes, but it doesn't stop it from being silly." He checked the pasta as he went on. "What place was this then? You don't sound terribly fond of it."

If the note was any clue, yes, fond was close enough. Trahearne didn't always know what to think of Tannusen and less often, what Tannusen thought of him. He had a hint now.

"Given that we're all trapped here, I wouldn't call it silly." Trahearne finally set the bowls down near the sink and turned to lean against the counter. All green and brown and glowing faintly even with the light on, Trahearne didn't look like a thing that belonged in a modern kitchen.

"I can't say I am fond of it, despite how much time I spent there. I doubt the name 'Orr' means anything to you. It's- was a corrupted land, though it is still plagued with hordes of undead. Not controllable or manageable undead." An important distinction when one was a necromancer. "I'm afraid I have trouble reacting calmly to Everglade's native undead. From what I've heard, it's not a safe place."
