[ Weiss very much enjoyed her Pokemon. She'd been here for at least three events so far. Charizard had been her first partner, then she'd worked up at team of 8 who were able to stay in this world- some whose preferences were to stay home instead of fight or who she lent to her brother for protection.
This time, except for a couple of trips to the stadium or to bother friends, Weiss's training was largely just going along with her Guardianship position. Whenever there are Pokemon, there are people around to try to exploit them. She'd already arrested a few Rockets, a few Magmas.. but this was probably the most atrocious thing that she'd found.
She knew Nova City sometimes pushed too far with technology. They always had. But when she found Pokemon being experimented on, people keeping Pokemon captive in a lab like this.. It was more than concerning. Usually for Pokemon matters she made a point not to use her own fighting capabilities, since people tended to deal with Pokemon with other Pokemon. But as soon as she realized what was going on, Weiss immediately plunged Myrtenaster into the ground to create an ice wall around the facility. She may have Panpour, Slowpoke, Horsea, and Frogadier with her for training- but she made sure to bring at least two of her older team with for safety. Eis (Lapras) is going around the ice wall to make any repairs and stop anyone who's trying to get out, and Arcanine (who she's been riding mostly) was guarding some of the already arrested individuals.
The four lower levels she has with her, but right now she's asking them to stay outside the room now that she's found.. well, something unique. Something scared. Something... her PokeFit didn't seem to recognize. It read "Type:Null" as if the Pokemon wasn't recognized.
Weiss slowly approached, her eyes falling on the mask covering the Pokemon's face. It didn't look like it should be there. It reminded her of the book about the Man in the Magnesium Alloy Mask. She didn't recall when that story involved scientists experimenting on him in a lab though.
Weiss pressed her hand against the glass, and the Pokemon jerked against its bindings as if to attack her, though it was tired. She didn't flinch though- they wouldn't have it in there if it couldn't hold it. It looked like it was probably being fed some kind of sedative anyway. ]
I'm going to get you out of here.
[ Weiss backed up and started going over to the computer. She was good at a lot of things: hacking wasn't one of them. Turns out, there isn't typically a switch that opens a door without effort for things like these. Okay. Think, Weiss.
Chances are if the Pokemon could break the glass with strength, it would've. She took a deep breath. ]
Horsea, Frogadier, and Slowpoke. Go watch the suspects and tell Arcanine to get in here.
[ They do as requested, Panpour looking confused since he didn't get an order. It was a risk putting the level 16s over with the arrestees but saving this Pokemon is more important than that. If they escape, she'll find them later. She already pulled all of their IDs and they can't leave Nova since they don't have pendants. She needed firepower here. ]
Arcanine, use flamethrower on the glass [ or whatever it was- it was much stronger than actual glass ] then I'll freeze it. Panpour I need you to use Fury Swipes to clear out the glass once it cracks. We should be able to break it.
[ They have to repeat the process a couple of times. Whatever material was used, it didn't quite work like a coffee pot breaking if you try to wash it when it's still hot. But eventually they got through, Weiss covering her face when it finally shatters and having to use her aura to recover from a few cuts. ]
Arcanine, back to where you were before. Panpour, guard the door.
[ The Pokemon didn't seem to have liked the repeated attacks in its face, even if they glass didn't get through it, and Weiss wanted to make sure it knew she wasn't going to hurt it. The other Pokemon left and Weiss froze a small portion of the floor over the glass so that it wouldn't hurt the poor thing's paws when he walked over it, and sat down at the end of the ice and put her sword down. It was going to be a waiting game, and Panpour was still at the door if it did decide to attack. ]
I'll wait.

Have you ever heard of a Type:Null?
That's all my PokeFit is saying. I found it in a lab. Arrested everyone there and they aren't talking, but I think.. I think they made him. He has a mask and I can't get it off. I can talk to it but obviously I don't speak Pokemon and he does have a mask on that covers its mouth so I can't even hear if it has a real name. Can you help?

Yes, experimenting on or otherwise being cruel to Pokemon is illegal in Nova City.
Try it if you want to go to prison for the rest of your time here.
[ She's definitely mad about this. ]

This Pokemon is like.. pieced together? Its head is stuck in a mask too, I can't get it off.
Text
Do you know who did it?

And I guess after that they'll just go to prison.
It's good you found them, Weiss.

We caught them in the act, I'd imagine the courts won't have any trouble putting them away.

[Voice]
[Mewtwo blinks a bit as he gets the message, even going so far as to activate the device's text-to-speech just to be sure he read the message correctly. Once the gravity of it all sets in he begins to make a few travel preparations, making sure the residents of his gate had all they needed while gathering a wide selection of berries. Whether Weiss wanted his assistance or not, he was going to investigate. He's just glad he's being invited to help.]
I have not, though considering my own origins, it would not be out of the realm of possibility to say it was man-made. There are others besides myself that were created using humane methods, primarily the Porygon line. However, given what you said, I would be more than happy to help translate. If it is permissible, I would also like to see those you found in the lab, read their minds as it pertains to this Type:Null so I can ascertain just what its needs are, and for what purpose it was created.
Either way, I am on my way to your office now, unless you are not currently there.
[Voice]
Sorry about the text, I just got it to come near me. I've been here for hours since it didn't want to come near anything that looked human and right now I don't really blame it. We're heading to my office now, you might get there before I do. I haven't tried a Pokeball or anything yet, I don't want it to feel like I'm trying to trap it but it seems to feel comfortable with me now and it's a little unstable on its feet.
[ There's the sound of a Panpour in the background trying to interact with it, since she let her Pokemon back in the room now that everyone's been arrested by the robopolice out in the other room. They seem to be getting along with it but.. ]
I'll see you soon.
[Action]
[Mewtwo makes good time, letting himself into Weiss' office via teleport, and laying out the berries he brought with him on the floor off to one side of the room, going so far as to move Weiss' desk to the opposite side. He wanted the area to be as open as possible, and would rather ask forgiveness later than permission before. He'd even brought a jug of Lake Purity's water, which should restore its strength. Once everything was in place, he took his place squatting on Weiss' desk as far from the food and water as possible.]
[Action]
Mewtwo can probably tell just visually that Null looks like some kind of mixed up combination of Pokemon turned the wrong colors and all kinds of stuff, with that helmet designed similar to Arceus that doesn't seem to come off. Weiss looks at Mewtwo for a moment, then back to Null to hold the door open. It seems like it's walking a little more stable, but still looks lethargic. ]
Null, this is Mewtwo.
[Action]
[Mewtwo nods, motioning to the food and water laid out, but otherwise remained motionless. The last thing he wants is to spook Null with a sudden movement or voice in its head. For now he's just observing and relaying his thoughts directly to Weiss.]
I hope you don't mind but I took the liberty of establishing a telepathic link so I could discuss initial observations without disturbing it.
I do not wish to pry into its mind just yet. At the very least I will wait for Lake Purity's water to start its healing... but just from what I can see, it would seem that its design was based off the legendary Arceus, but I do not believe it to be a clone like I am.
It seems to be made from scratch, as it were.
[Action]
It looks like it might be made from different types of Pokemon, looking at its tail and its legs. Like it was mashed together.
I think they gave him something heavy to sedate him in there to keep him from breaking the window. Will the water help with that?
[ Weiss went to sit down on the ground a few feet from Type:Null. It still seems a little hesitant, but it seems to trust her since she's been very patient and shown no ill will. ]
Go ahead, it's safe.
[ Null seems to take the encouragement and goes after the food and water. Arcanine returns to its Pokeball after that and Weiss tries to stifle a yawn. ]
[Action]
[Mewtwo isn't too keen on the idea either, but circumstances come first.]
The water is from Lake Purity, and has healing properties that I myself don't completely understand. During one encounter with a particularly violent adversary, I was on death's door when submerged in it and within seconds I was stronger than I had ever been. It should restore its physical health. I cannot say if it will increase its energy, considering the tribulations it's endured.
As for the appearance... they do not appear to be parts of other Pokemon, at least none that I have encountered. The more concerning aspect - for myself anyway - is how it seems to have been created with the intent of emulating Arceus, which is often revered as a god in my world.
[To illustrate his point, the vision of a wall carving depicting Arceus appears in Weiss' vision for a moment, placing the image side by side with Null for comparison. At the same time he does probe the mask, seeing if he could figure out its purpose.]
It doesn't seem the mask is hurting it. From what I can tell, it may be putting some pressure on its face but other than that shouldn't be causing any pain.
[Action]
There's a lot to be said about "playing god" here. I'm glad it's at least not in physical pain. Can you tell how old it is?
[ Once :Null finishes the sustenance, Weiss holds her hand out again, face down so he can tell she's not going to do anything. It seems to inspect her, but doesn't really come closer yet, looking between both her and Mewtwo. ]
[Action]
[Mewtwo shakes his head]
If the process that created it is anything like what created me, it was likely created fully matured. As such there's no real physical indication as to its age, and it does not seem to have any memory that help narrow that down. However, if I were to guess, I would say between six and forty-eight hours.
[With the food and water consumed, and one less thing for Null to worry about, Mewtwo slowly stepped off of Weiss' desk, keeping himself low to the ground so as not to appear any more threatening than possible. As he did, he reached out with his mind, relaying his own experiences with humans and how similar his situation was, asking mentally if he and Weiss could help it.]

They won't be finding a safe haven in Attleton either.

Who is experimenting on Pokemon?
no subject
no subject
I'm afraid I don't know anything about them, but if I help in any way I will. Experimenting on Pokemon is vile, and I hope these criminals will be brought to justice.
no subject
I'll make sure they are.

I mean they do show us in their own way, but someone like me really doesn't understand right off the bat.
[She does if they are extremely obvious, but subtle is not her strong point yet.]
But I guess that wouldn't help for those who would do horrible things...
no subject
Though I doubt anyone will do anything blatantly in front of me, I'll keep an eye out for any poke'mon that may be in danger.
[She'll do more than that, but Weiss is a guardian, so she isn't going to elaborate.]

[ Please don't do anything illegal though and thank you for not telling her if you're planning on it. ]

There's one that I've got with me, though. He seems to have been created in the lab itself.

How fascinating. What sort of creation method would you say was used? Is it functioning okay?
