[Video] Arrival
[The situation was not exactly unusual - he had never been kidnapped in this particular manner before, but, well, he couldn't say it was the first time he'd been taken or held against his will, and waking up in a big, damp room with a gift box was a lot nicer than being handcuffed to a wall or on the run from psychotic aliens. Of course, in his admittedly limited experience, it tended to mean that worse things were coming, but he'd judge that on a case-by-case.
[At any rate, once he's out of the egg-shaped container he arrived in, Jim takes a quick look around before heading for the exit, stopping to listen to the hologram on the way. He's a little taken aback by the combination of hologram technology and regular old paper, given that he's from a time and place where the latter is hardly ever used due to the development and advancement of the former, but he takes it in stride.
[Once the hologram is over and he's had a chance to glance over the things in the box and, betting on a need for his hands, pocket the currency, objects, and folded-up pamphlet, he grabs one of the maps by the hologram and walks out onto a street that doesn't look like it would be particularly out of place in any of the larger cities of Earth. The sun is shining - something that his eyes take a minute to adjust to - and the sky looks clear, and there aren't many other people on the street. With no visual cues to his location further than what the hologram and the map tell him, Jim figures it might be a good time to try the communicator. After all, if he was here... what were the chances they'd only kidnap one person from his ship?
[Powering on the device, it only takes him a few moments to work out the features and get a video message started. Once he has it in hand, he takes a deep breath, and begins.]
This is James T Kirk, captain of the USS Enterprise. I just woke up here, and I was hoping someone might have seen my crew, or have some information about this place - outside of what the hologram already told me.
[He's really banking on the idea that he isn't alone in this. It's been a long time since he's had to work alone, and it's not his favorite way to operate.]

Jim, welcome to the party. [Sarcasm, obviously.] Looks like we've got a whole away team here now. No closer to any idea of what's really going on though.

Bones! It's good to see a familiar face. Who else is here? [His tone is confident as he adds,] I'm sure we can figure this out between us.
no subject
[Though at the rate they were going, he was expecting Uhura to drop in any minute.]
Oh yeah, and try not to get into any trouble. Only thing I had on me's the communicator, and who knows where they are in medicine around here.
no subject
Well, hey. I don't see how we can't find out what's going on here between the three of us.
[Jim shrugs at the last comment, grinning - even if he's not 100% sure he feels it.]
Trouble? What trouble could I possibly get into?
no subject
[He gives the screen - Jim - a look that could probably curdle milk given the opportunity.]
Dammit Jim, I'm not even going to dignify that with an answer.
no subject
[Jim gives Bones a smile - and it's more real this time. Funny how his friend's disapproval could inspire his good humor so much.]
I'll be fine, Bones, relax. There isn't even anyone here to start trouble with. It'd be me against a wall.
Where are you, anyway?
no subject
[He was already making a list of things that they'd want to get hold of in his head. Things he definitely wanted to check out at this point. Mostly, he was hoping medicine was more on the hologram than paper brochure line of advancement. Regardless of what was going on.]
Just a couple blocks from that Bay. I can meet you there, if you want.

Who's the rest of your crew? Because it looks like we had an influx of new arrivals lately and all seem to be part of a thing called Starfleet.
Re: [Video]
Thank you for letting me know - I've found one member of my crew already, and hopefully Spock won't be far.
The rest of my crew-- it's a lot of people, but have you seen or heard from an Uhura, Sulu, Chekov, Scotty? I'll make a list, too.
[He can't help being concerned about his crew - he knows they're capable people, to a man, but they're his responsibility and he cares a lot about them. This isn't a simulation, this is - as far as Jim can tell - real, and the more innocuous his surroundings are, the more he suspects about what's behind the veneer.]
I appreciate your help, um--?

You are welcome. Sometimes this world does that, it pulls in people from the same universe randomly.
None of those names ring a bell but, just as I suggested Commander Spock, you could visit the Employment Building. They keep lists of those who are currently working. Since everyone here needs a job to survive, your friends might have gone to the building at some point.
[The first thing Kay did after he arrived was to look for his team, he can understand Jim's need to find them all too well]
My name is k-2SO but calling me Kaytoo is fine.

[He's making a mental list of places to go and things he needs to check out. Employment building. Research foundation.]
Nice to meet you, then, Kaytoo.
no subject
[Don't forget the bars, Kay works in one as security and he recommends them.]
Likewise. The first days in this new world are always confusing but the place is not as bad as it seems.
no subject
Yeah? It's a little hard to see the upside right now, I guess.

What's the T stand for, Jimmy?
Re: video;
Tiberius.
Who are you?
video;
Dave Strider, the time expert here slash media overlord. 'Sup? Your crew has been flooding the network so I'm pretty sure you're going to find at least two of them pretty quickly.
Re: video;
It was my grandfather's name.
Yeah, I found 'em, thanks. Good to meet you. Weird circumstances, but what else is new?
video;
Ha ha. You get it. Right? One second your just chillin' the hell out with some aliens and then you're kidnapped into an alternate dimension and told to get a job.
Re: video;
I don't think they have people like that in Iowa.
Yeah, that's actually not that weird for me. Well, the "get a job" part is new, actually. But abduction and alternate dimensions, sadly, no.

Re: video;
video;
OK Captain Kirk. What do you want to know?
Re: video;
[Jim smiles, and shrugs slightly.]
Anything that could help me find my crew or our ship, really. I'm not picky.
video;
[ Nerdy or not it's a space ship she wants to see. ]
Re: video;
[There's gotta be more to this, he figures, but for now.. for now he'll get the surface answers. Then he'll look into deeper into it - how the charms work, for example.]
video;
[ She knows it does. ] Sometimes they give them out during events, things like that. Basically they're a "good job integrating into society!" award you can trade in with the CPU, which is like this world's less helpful Siri.
Re: video;
..huh. Okay. Thanks for explaining. I guess I'll start there, as far as looking for a way to get my ship if it's not around here.
So, is it true no one can leave?
[And there's a pause, and Jim sighing at himself.]
Sorry, ah- what's your name? I should've asked before.
