[Video] Arrival
[The situation was not exactly unusual - he had never been kidnapped in this particular manner before, but, well, he couldn't say it was the first time he'd been taken or held against his will, and waking up in a big, damp room with a gift box was a lot nicer than being handcuffed to a wall or on the run from psychotic aliens. Of course, in his admittedly limited experience, it tended to mean that worse things were coming, but he'd judge that on a case-by-case.
[At any rate, once he's out of the egg-shaped container he arrived in, Jim takes a quick look around before heading for the exit, stopping to listen to the hologram on the way. He's a little taken aback by the combination of hologram technology and regular old paper, given that he's from a time and place where the latter is hardly ever used due to the development and advancement of the former, but he takes it in stride.
[Once the hologram is over and he's had a chance to glance over the things in the box and, betting on a need for his hands, pocket the currency, objects, and folded-up pamphlet, he grabs one of the maps by the hologram and walks out onto a street that doesn't look like it would be particularly out of place in any of the larger cities of Earth. The sun is shining - something that his eyes take a minute to adjust to - and the sky looks clear, and there aren't many other people on the street. With no visual cues to his location further than what the hologram and the map tell him, Jim figures it might be a good time to try the communicator. After all, if he was here... what were the chances they'd only kidnap one person from his ship?
[Powering on the device, it only takes him a few moments to work out the features and get a video message started. Once he has it in hand, he takes a deep breath, and begins.]
This is James T Kirk, captain of the USS Enterprise. I just woke up here, and I was hoping someone might have seen my crew, or have some information about this place - outside of what the hologram already told me.
[He's really banking on the idea that he isn't alone in this. It's been a long time since he's had to work alone, and it's not his favorite way to operate.]

Private Video to Action
[He disconnects the call and wishes not for the first time that they had transporters on this planet. There's a chance they might have them in Nova City from what's he's learned about their level of technology; he'll have to make some inquiries later.
It's a bit of a hike back to the Bay. Normally he wouldn't mind, but he's eager to meet with Kirk and share his wealth of knowledge, so he checks with a contact about alternate methods of transport before he calls a car to come pick him up. In I-don't-know-how-long-it-takes-to-get-there minutes, he arrives at the Bay. He strides towards the two men without hesitation, nodding in greeting. ]
Captain.
Re: Private Video to Action
Spock. Welcome to the party.
[The smile doesn't stick, though, and his expression grows a hair more serious. It's hard to maintain the charm when your knowledge of where and when you are is this tentative.]
So, what did you find?
Re: Private Video to Action
We don't have much. You probably saw a lot if it in the actual damn paper guides they left. People get drawn here, out of time and space, wake up in those pods and then they're stuck here. Word's that no time passes at home, somehow. The locals won't say mum about any of it, just kind of act like it's not going on.
No one's gotten out on purpose yet, but sometimes people just disappear.
I don't know where we are exactly, but I've seen at least one brochure for a planetarium, so we might get a hint.
And oh yeah - [He adds, as if it was an afterthought] - the damn place doesn't have a medical school.
Re: Private Video to Action
You're right, Bones - we've been kidnapped to a strange planet and apparently can't get back, but the real crime is that there isn't a medical school here.
[He sobers fairly quickly, though, and runs a hand through his hair, sighing.]
Anyway.. so, we could try the planetarium, that might help. Otherwise it sounds like we might be on our own here.
Action
While I have not yet had a chance to visit the planetarium, I did stop by the Schnee Company and spoke to Dr. Moore at the Genessia Scientific Research Foundation prior to your arrival. I have learned much about the current state of affairs in regards to who is keeping us here and the barrier that is shielding us and preventing us from returning to the Enterprise.
What's perhaps most fascinating, though, is that blood samples have shown that the cells of the individuals who have been taken here are only as old as the length of their stay here, leading me to believe that we have had entirely new bodies constructed for us, though as to why I am uncertain.
[To say Spock's been busy would be an understatement.]
Would you like me to elaborate on anymore of my current findings?
((ooc: I don't want to info dump on you guys but I can totally info dump if you want. Spock's not kidding when he said he's learned a lot in his short time here.))
Re: Action
He brushes a hand over one arm, not too fond of the idea that he wasn't even him.]
Could be that they couldn't actually bring us through. Or they're expecting something to happen to us and they want a back-up.
[Yes, Spock, look - conjecture. Either way - whether or not Spock kept up his information dump was up to Jim.]
Re: Action
..well that's.. creepy and bizarre. [He's talking about the "whole new bodies" thing.] But okay. What have you learned? Especially about who or what is keeping us here?
Re: Action
[He’s been trying to crack that one since he first heard of it. The testing was only performed on human subjects, and while he believes that he will yield the same results, he does plan on having his own cells tested as well. He’s not sure what he’ll do with the information if it turns out that his physique is the original, but he doesn’t want to count it out just yet - you never know where one fact can lead you.]
Certainly, captain. [Spock nods before beginning his infor dump.] The entities containing us to this location are supposedly some sort of spirit. There are five beings in existence, one to correspond with each of the five cities. Everglade’s spirit is in control of the barrier, powering it with fear. Fayren’s is involved in sacrifices and memories. Nothing is known about the other three as of yet except that they exist.
There are other spirits that reside outside the barrier as well, though they are considered to be hostile, and it is strongly advised to avoid them should they breach the barrier. Not much else seems to be commonly known on the subject.
Re: Action
Thanks for the rundown, Spock. I guess that's better than knowing nothing, even if it doesn't give us much of an idea of where to start.
