Briefing 8 | [Action/Text]
[Private - Introspection]
[It was a rarity for Blaze to start losing his patience. As a former squadron leader, he always knew that keeping a handle on his emotions was imperative in any given situation no matter what was going on around him. So when he was starting to become outwardly annoyed? Things were really getting to him. He was used to having his abilities and leadership questioned thanks to people like Perrault and Hamilton back at Sand Island and having that put into question again here as a Guardian wasn't a surprise at all... but when it was put into question and getting accusations of resting on his laurels when he had not only an attack from Icy to deal with, but a solo infiltration into a deranged circus? Both in the same month? On top of all his normal patrols and having a subarchway that could potentially kill anyone if they're left in there for too long?
Even Hamilton gave him more slack than this. And he's the guy who accused Blaze of being a traitor. At least his squadron got a party after they sunk the Hrimfaxi.
Luckily, Blaze wasn't one to let him question his own abilities or let that kind of ridicule give him cause to give up. If they really think he's doing that poor of a job or if a better candidate steps up, then they can simply vote him out next election. They're the ones who put him in this seat for two terms to begin with.
But until then, he would have to focus on bettering himself. Not that he has anything to prove to them, but he had to prove to himself that he would have the ability to handle whatever situation this world could throw at him. Even if he has the power disadvantage compared to most of the residents here.]
[Action - Holodeck'd]
[It wasn't often that Blaze would make a trip to Nova City. He actively tried to keep himself to Genessia City and Attleton, so he would always be able to respond quickly to emergencies. Today however, he'd changed his library shift and left the Guardian's office early in the morning to make a trip to visit the holodeck, the one place that he felt would be best to help him train himself both mentally and physically.
The majority of his day would be spent here, training himself in whatever scenario he could possibly think of- infiltration, hostage situations, supernatural invasions. If any would prove too difficult to him, or show the potential to take his life, Blaze had his Mismagius at the helm to end the simulations.
One such simulation would be ended prematurely after Blaze had replicated Icy's attack as closely as he could, and without the aid of the people he had before, it'd gone pretty poorly. He'd been thrown to the ground by the creature and immobilized, but before it could manage a follow up attack it would vanish along with its surroundings. Laying in the now empty room, Blaze would stay there for a few minutes to catch his breath while his Flareon hurried over to his side, dragging a bag of supplies Blaze had packed in advance. Blaze let out a heavy sigh as he sat up, shaking his head.]
No, I'm not happy with that result. We need to run it again.
[Text]
[It would be sunset by the time Blaze would leave the holodeck, and it was there he realized just how painfully unprepared he really was. His equipment was by far the biggest issue, and since he especially knew that Thirteen was on his same level with access to the same equipment, there was no way Blaze could accept it. If he wanted to keep civilians, his deputy and even himself safe, changes needed to be made.]
If someone would be willing to aid me, I desperately need to purchase new equipment. Given the circumstances, I can only assume that Nova City would be my best bet for it.
Standard guns aren't going to cut it anymore.

I'll have to speak to one of them. I'll obtain whatever license necessary to ensure Attleton's continued safety.
[Action]
Pushing the intercom button from the control room just before Blaze sits himself up, Mariko taps on the mic ]
Hey, buddy. Still alive?
[Action]
I didn't realize I was being watched by Solo Wing Pixy.
[He slowly got up to his feet, grabbing the strap of the bag Flareon had brought over as he rose.]
Am I in your way?
[Action]
[ Mariko felt the need to quip by asking that question, but that subject can wait some other time. Mariko shuts down the blinders of the frosted glass, making Blaze be able to see her from the control room
Not really. I just got here. If you want to use the room a bit longer, I don't mind waiting. It just looked like you needed a little help there for a sec... Do you?
[Action]
[A fascinating one. It's only the name of one of the more renowned pilots during the Belkan War and prior... ...but he's also a nerd.
He'll look a bit troubled then as he looks towards the floor, and then looked up towards Mariko.]
I wish I could say no, but that simulation didn't go as I'd hoped. I don't know if it's beyond my capabilities, or if I could have done better.

[That attack from Icy was a mess, dammit.]
I'm sorry, I'm feeling exhausted and didn't realize how that message could be interpreted.
no subject
I don't want to interfere, but if there is anything we can do, I'll be happy to help.

Attleton relies on citizen's arrest and neighborhood watch, so if you'd be able to alert the Guardian's Office of any trouble if you ever see it, we'd appreciate it.

Can't tell you where to buy them, but weapon development and improvement is my specialty.
[ Besides, maybe next time he could actually stop the crazy circus before anyone was kidnapped or maimed. ]
Text
I'd appreciate whatever aid you could supply me with. The armory's in desperate need of an upgrade.
[He just hopes your weapon skills are better than your detective skills, Garrus.]
Re: Text
What type of upgrades are we talking?
[...This is going to take forever.]
Actually can you meet me in my office at Nexus to talk shop? It’s over in Nova.

[When she got there, she was surprised to see the Pokemon just outside of it. She blinked for a moment before concluding that there must be someone in the room already. When she entered, she saw the man on the floor with the Flareon dragging his supply bag over to him. Well, that was cute. For a moment, she regretted leaving her Machop at home. The man seemed all right, so she didn't get too worried about him, so she just casually approached him.]
...Having problems?
[Action]
Yes and no. The last simulation ended poorly.
[He slowly got up to his feet.]
I'm not in your way, am I?
[Action]
[Karla shakes her head lightly.]
Oh no. Rather, I wouldn't want to get in your way if you were already using this room. Although, you said the last session didn't go well. Did you need help?

I'm coming along, Blaze. I want to be there and get acquainted with whatever we pick up. I'm not interested in any repeats of the shit that happened in the past month.
I'm still sore from fighting those shadow beasts. Next time someone tries to mess with our town, they're not going to get off easy.
[Text]
[And he does put Thirteen's safety over his own in this kind of situation. His comfort with any new weaponry is imperative.]
Do you want to meet up? I'm still in Nova City.
[Text]
[Nova City would take some time to get to, but thanks to maps and a few months around here now, he knew his way around well enough.]

Historically Attleton's normal nature seems to make it a prime target for supernatural invasion from residents here. I'd have to wonder if there's a way to temporarily disable powers in Attleton alone considering its citizens don't typically have any.
text;
I don't see what they hope to gain by attacking a city like this. Aside from a boost to their own ego, I guess. I'd be interested in a potential method like that but I'd be worried how it might effect Dante, or if we have an emergency in the Midnight Channel subarchway.
text;
That said, I'll see if we can't collaborate with Aster Tech to get something a little more effective for you. They're constantly looking for brownie points after the Dr. Seek incident.

David himself finally steps into the room.]
How many times have you run it already?
Action
Three times now, but I'm not sure if I should count one of them given how quickly it ended.
[Which frustrated him immensely. He wasn't sure at this point if he was just wasting his time.]
Action
And how many more times do you plan to run it? Since you don't seem like the type to want to give up easily.
