I'd like to gently remind all the City Guardian candidates that this is not the position of a ruler, nor a legislator, nor medical professional. This is a job to protect people. A job to protect them not only physically, but also protect their rights and way of life. Your personal opinion about their beliefs doesn't matter, and you certainly don't have legislative capabilities outside of your role in the criminal justice system.

That said, it sounds like there are plenty of great candidates who do understand what the actual job is, and I look forward to a fair and positive competition against Captain Kirk and anyone else who should choose to run for Nova City.

Would one or both of you mind being substitute Guardians for some time on Saturday? I'd like to treat my deputies to a team-building trip but I also don't want to leave the city unprotected.

We're going to the beach this Saturday. It's a mandatory team-building exercise trip. If you need waterproofing spray for any parts, I found some at a local store. It turns out plenty of cyborgs enjoy swimming. I will make certain we have someone to hold down the fort and keep us posted if disaster strikes and we have to rush back, and we'll be in one of our own subarchways so if something does happen, we can make it back somewhat quickly.

[ On one hand, it's Weiss. Who, even though she's done him a kindness by allowing him a second chance and a job, he has no real emotional attachment to. Her sob story should be just that to him - something to mock, to take jabs at. But there's something too familiar in that story, of a father overstepping his boundaries, of making a home into a prison, and while he's certain that Jacques is no Marcus...

[ There's something on Mercury's tone that throws her off just as much as the fact that he's the first person to ever really ask her that. He's really the first person to ask about her scar on general, most people assuming it none of their business and weiss not putting it at the forefront of any conversation herself. The fact that his reaction to her story want "good you talk a lot" is just as jarring though. The reason it was so easy to talk to him about it was supposed to be because of the expectation that he wouldn't care. Weiss finds herself hesitating to answer for both reasons, but eventually she answers. ]

He... When I wanted to go to Beacon and refused to back down, he brought in a knight infected with a Grimm. It destroyed my aura, but I kept fighting. I think the idea was that he thought I would give up and his bodyguards would have to save me and he'd prove I was on a fool's errand to think I could be anything without him. He wouldn't scar me intentionally, people would talk and it probably diminishes my value to him.
