1st Run - Ain't New York Anymore
Video - Public - Genessia City
Video/Action - Public - Nova City
[ Shoji's arrival to this world differed little from any other. He wakes up in the Bay confused, a little afraid, and uneasy. The hologram and the pamphlet help ease his mind, along with his prior experience with strange supernatural phenomena. But this is completely new. So right after swapping the damp clothes he was wearing to fresher ones, and finding a tall rooftop to perch on with a canned drink in hand, Shoji made use of this network by making a video. It's risky to put himself out there, but he's got a lot of faith that people here wouldn't be evil or out to get him. Firing up the video function, Shoji taps on the screen and holds his device up at a decent angle that shows his stylish casual clothes. Starting off with a friendly smile and a two-fingered salute, he speaks: ]
Hey there! Shoji speakin', new meat fresh off the bay. Any friendly faces in this place willing to have a chat? How many of us are in here anyway? Man, this is crazy, it's like being transported into some bizarro dimension filled with yokai, only with no yokai. This is really feels more like a human world than anything.
Video/Action - Public - Nova City
[ The shock of suddenly being transported into a different world was enough to keep Shoji awake for a long time. So he decided to spend the night just running free until he makes it to Nova City. Weiss' welcoming message have mentioned Nova City, so it was natural that it would catch Shoji's curiosity. The futuristic wonderland just energized him more to keep exploring. This was way bigger than any city he's been, with buildings much higher than he's seen before. It was almost intimidating, but also tempting to make this city into his new parkour playground. Just wandering where he feels like, Shoji eventually runs into a seedy underbelly of Nova City. After soaking in the sights of the lines of bars and other neon light establishments spread throughout this street he finds himself in, Shoji finds himself in trouble.
Shoji turns the video on, not having any time to pick names and not that he knows any Guardians yet, showing himself hiding behind a wall. Gunshots could be heard along with some screaming from panicked pedestrians. Despite being in such danger against guns with firepower unlike his homeworld's, Shoji presents himself in a somewhat calm demeanor in the video ]
Uhhh... Hi again. I may or may not have run into some thugs having what looked like an arms trade. That I interrupted. Unintentionally, I might add.
[ Then a gunshot fizzed by and nicked the corner of the wall he's hiding behind. Dust from the shattered piece of wall makes him pause and cuss under his breath for a second. ]
So uh, some help would be nice? They got some heavy firepower but I'll keep 'em occupied until you get here. I'm at the northeast quadrant of the city. In the back alley of a bar named "Wish You Were Beer". God, that name is terrible!
[ Shoji cringes at saying that terrible name out loud, activating a holographic shield over his arm before putting his phone away on his coat's chest pocket. He takes a sharp breath before steps out of hiding, using his shield as protection to slide from cover to cover, just before he throws his shield like a boomerang and striking at one of the armed thugs before returning to him ]

Arms dealers! I'll be right there. Just don't hurt them, okay?
[ Shoji replies while busy in combat. While the camera on his jacket's breast pocket is shaky at best with all the commotion going on, it appears Shoji is engaged in some hand-to-hand combat with armed assailants, knocking them out cold. When the camera settles, the corner of the screen shows Shoji picking up one of the men's rifles, splitting it in half with the rim of his round energy shield. ]
Unless you can get here fast enough.
Re: [Video]
I-I'm almost there! J-Just don't do that anymore!
[He can hear the fighting now. He just needs to get there and salvage what he can. Why do the heroes have to destroy the weapons too?!]
action;
With the aid of ice and wind magic, he'd make for a higher vantage point so he could get a jump of whoever was causing the trouble. Once he catches sight of Shoji and the thugs after him, it was time to spring into action!
... by which of course he means drop down into the middle of the group of thugs and clap his hands together to catch their attention. The art of confusion was always the best.]
Hey now, boys, don'tcha think a bunch of you against one guy is kinda unfair? Dick move.
[While the thugs are still recovering from the surprise of the sudden appearance of some asshole in purple with wires sticking out of his neck, Gale will put his hands on his hips and yell to Shoji.]
Yo, buddy! This is what you get when you hang around terrible bars with bad puns for names!
[Someone is clearly not paying attention to guns getting aimed at him. Or he is paying attention... and he just doesn't care.]
no subject
Oh yeah, definitely a lesson learned here, pal. Seriously no wonder it looked empty!
[ Shoji laughs. The armed assailants, while momentarily puzzled at these two jokers, just want to get out of there. Looking at each other, a number of them stayed behind to let their buddies bail with the rest of the illegal weapons. Now they have two enemies, so they could only hope to escape before Nova City's Guardian team arrives. None of them really want to deal with that new multi-armed guy. Backing away while giving suppressive fire, the assailants throw smoke grenades to help cover their escape.
Meanwhile, Shoji used the momentary distraction of Gale and the smoke to get closer, throwing his shield like a frisbee against someone who wanted to attack Gale from behind. Letting his thrown shield fizz away, Shoji conjures up a new one just as he stops right next to Gale. The cyborg wasn't the only one with the glowing parts it looks like, as both of Shoji's forearms and hands are covered in a holographic gauntlet that holds his shield in place ]
You a Guardian? I think I know where they're headed, but these guys look pro, I don't know if we can follow the head honcho in time with these fools in the way.
no subject
[As if to drive his point home, he stomps on the fallen man's stomach with his platform heels and knocks the wind out of him. He glances up towards the group attempting to flee, smirking as he keeps them locked on with his mask's HUD. He throws an arm out, causing a gust of wind to quickly blow the smoke away and with a flourish of the same arm, causing several ice spires to appear in front of them. If that doesn't stop them, it'll at least slow them down.]
If ya asked me that two days ago, I would'a said yes cuz I was an honorary Guardian for a few hours. But! I do know the Guardian.
[A grin comes to his face.]
Don't you sweat it though. These guys ain't gettin' away. Not while I'm here.
no subject
[ Shoji quips while standing back to back with Gale. He didn't mind Gale stepping on the thug, acting like it's normal, and that Shoji was going to knock the consciousness out of the poor sod anyway. Gale's show of force makes Shoji narrow his eyes at the spectacle it created. Gale negating their smokescreen and preventing them from escaping with the ice spires really making things more difficult for the assailants.
But it's hard to keep someone whose intent is to escape, especially when packing guns that could chew out almost every obstacle their way. Shooting the ice spires, only one team of assailants manage to break the pillars in front of them, wasting no time and escaping behind some covering fire. Shoji raises his shield to protect from the incoming onslaught, gathering up some air into his spare hand before throwing it at their enemies. The compressed ball of air functioned like a grenade, exploding after it hit their enemies. But it didn't really do much. Their armed opponents have some distance between each other, and knows how to time their shots and when to run. At least Shoji managed to knock out two of them in the process, and dazing a third one who limps on out of there ]
So, you got kicked out for showin' off? Or was that just covering for someone who had the sniffles that day?
no subject
[He plants his hands on his hips, his cheeks puffing up when some of them manage to get through the ice. He rolls his eyes in annoyance, rolling his shoulders and about to make a quip, but that air attack from Shoji was enough to actually impress him, letting out a whistle.]
Ooo, nice one. They're gonna be feelin' that one in the morning.
[It was so cute that they thought they could actually get away. And if they thought that was the worst Gale could dish out, then they had another thing coming. He might even let them get a little more distance- Gale did enjoy a good chase once in a while. He lazily glanced over to Shoji.]
I'd say it was because I was too handsome, but that wasn't her reason. I was coverin' for field trip day. The deputies got to go to the zoo or somethin'.
[He had no idea, but the thought of that Grievous guy petting a goat was oddly hysterical. Gale begins to casually walk ahead, his eyes tracking whatever moves their opponents make. As if trying to spook them into running faster, he casually waves his arm, causing a burst of purple flame to rush towards them.]
By the way, if you're lookin' for a good place to get a drink, I know just the place. Can even hook ya up with a freebie.
[Because chasing a bunch of armed thugs was clearly the best time to advertise for his club.]
video - genessia;
Hello, fellow newbie. "A bizarro dimension filled with yokai, only with no yokai." What an usual description, though I agree with your assessment that this world seems to be primarily human at a first glance. Have you been to a dimension of yokai?
no subject
[ Goro's friendly response made it easy for Shoji to feel at ease with talking to him through the little screen of his device. Taking a quick sip of his drink, he nods with a hum ]
Been to a couple of times. Got some mixed feelings about it, but generally pretty freaky beneath the modern Earth-like look of the cities they have there.
[ He chuckles, shaking his head with a slight cringe at some of the more unpleasant memories he had there. It's a weird place, for sure. But it's got some wonders in it that Earth doesn't offer ]
no subject
Really? I can only imagine how that would leave one with an uneasy feeling. What were the yokai like? [ Still smiling, leaning slightly forward with interest. ]
My life seems so boring now. I've never even traveled outside of Japan before.
no subject
[ Shoji wouldn't call himself a "traveler" or a travel nut, but he's been across the Pacific multiple times since his parents live in New York City, with relatives in Hawaii too. But he does think of it as an experience anyone should have at least once in their lives. ]
Minus their magical powers, they're surprisingly very human. If you can believe it. Definitely a lot nicer to each other than we are with our fellow man. Not to be philosophical or anything. Different varieties of them stick together through thick and thin like a bunch of families who've known each other for decades.
[ Unlike humans who can still be pretty divided over petty things. But in the yokai's case it's [artially because of humans in Shoji's world, who have developed abilities to reverse the odds against them, making them, who were once feared by people, to be the prey species. ]
Text
Are yokai normal for you? Those I believe are Japanese demons.
no subject
[ Shoji jokes, deciding to keep his response in video form ]
Pretty normal to me now, yeah. I dunno if I should even say that and have you people think I'm a weirdo. But we're all stuck in this chicken coop full of weird things, so...
[ Shoji gives a laid-back shrug ]
It depends on what you'll classify as demon though. But most of them are okay people.
Video
Because then I have to stop what I'm doing to talk to you.
[Though her eyes continue to flick to the left of the screen where here laptop is set up.]
Weird is subjective. [Enis rolls her shoulders in a lazy shrug.] It depends what you classify as people. [She retorts with a bit of a huff.] I have some information about basic demons, inhumans, etc. but I'm sure your world is different from mine.
no subject
Oh yeah? What were you before all of this anyway?
no subject
What was I? I am the same as I am now. You'll have to be more specific with your questions if you're looking for specific answers.
no subject
[ Shoji clarified in a concise way, taking a sip of his drink with a easy-going shrug of his shoulders ]
no subject
Didn't have one. I traveled a lot. You?

no subject
Try me.
I need a story to keep me entertained.
[Her current project isn't going well.]
no subject
I dunno, I'd like to know more about you. Tell you what, gimme some info on you and I'll tell you my story. Only fair that way, yeah?
no subject
Not that she's met that many people.]
What information do you want to know?
[She feels like her life is pretty one dimensional.]
no subject
no subject
[She realizes that she's being unhelpful but Enis isn't skilled when it comes to talking about herself.]
video;
As for numbers that are here it's... honestly really hard to count the numbers if I have to be honest.
no subject
I think I'm good. For now. But I'll let you guys know if I have questions. Still getting my this new world idea wrapped around my head, and talking to you guys is what I think the best way for me right now.
[ He'd ask about the numbers again later ]
no subject
[She was always more than happy to help or at least make friends anyway.]
So what do you think you will do now then? Explore a bit?
no subject
Yep, that's pretty much the only thing in my mind right now. Waking up in this crazy place added a few more hours of energy in my battery, and Nova City sounds like something I just gotta see right now.
[ Right after he finishes his drink, that is. ]
So your job here, is it something you like doing? I heard in the hologram that we're to support ourselves here. I honestly don't know what sorta job I can get, really. Doubt they're looking for delivery boys for their supernatural citizens.
[ Shoji shakes his head with a little sheepish laugh. That was essentially his job back home, other than being a college student and unofficial superhero ]
no subject
[She nodded slightly.]
Of course, I wouldn't be doing in if I didn't. Though you really can do anything, you just need to find the right city and of course customers.
no subject
[ Reading her nametag on the device, Shoji finally puts the pieces together and concludes that Yukiko might be the owner of the Amagi Inn she mentioned. She looks young, though ]
Reading your name tag, I just realized that you could probably own that inn you work in. I mean, do you?
[ That would be so cool ]
no subject
[But she can't really 100%b do that until the others are open.]
If it odd that I own them? But it was something I was meant to take over back home.
no subject
[ He's still used to the standards of his world where most business owners are at least a little older than they are. But what the hologram said and what the pamplet covered, Shoji realizes that this sort of situation with Yukiko is entirely possible here ]
That's pretty sweet though, owning a business here. I saw the commons place and it just looks so depressing. Might have to stay at your inn for tonight then. Sounds like a fun time.
[ Provided he won't get arrested later ]
I wonder, is it like a full-blown ryokan style or a bit more "western"? Genessia looks a lot like an American city.
no subject
[Or at least she was in training to take over, minus the time her mother collapsed after things happened.]
It's not normally an everyday thing people would see, but yet here... Someone my age can with no questions asked.
[She nodded slightly.]
It is a nice place, we have a hot springs and we do cater to what the customer wants. So you would actually be correct about the style being ryokan styled
no subject
[ Shoji finishes his drink, crushing the can in his hand because he's hardcore like that. ]
I was in Osaka not long ago. Finished high school there before I went back to America.
[ He shrugs, that's a story for another time. For now, he stands up and dusts his pants off as he gets ready to make a run for it ]
I'll tell you all about it later. Yukiko.
[ He flashes her a wink and a two-fingered salute before switching off the feed ]
[Voice]
[Mewtwo opts to keep the video option off for the moment until he ascertains just what kind of knowledge Shoji has of Youkai.]
There are indeed Youkai in this place.
no subject
[ Shoji rubs the back of his neck with an audible sigh through the network call. ]
I can't seem to catch a break with them. Are they behaved, at least? Really don't wanna get eaten anytime soon.
no subject
The two I am familiar with are relatively respected members of Fayren. They do not hunt humans.
video;
I like myself a good pun something, but... just no.
no subject
So do I. It oughta be illegal to come up with business names like that, eh?
no subject
[Because why not.]
no subject
[ Shoji answers without hesitation, throwing a ball of compressed air like a grenade, and escapes the confines of his cover just after it exploded. His enemies have managed to run an ample distance for now that Shoji hasn't put the phone back to his coat pocket just yet. He moves at a jogging pace to follow the bad guys,
but keeps half of his attention to the video call ]
no subject
[She paused for a moment, as she was sitting at a desk for the time being, leaning back.]
no subject
[ He smirks, letting out a chuckle as he continues to jog, casually jumping over a minor obstacle ]
So when people ask "why Enigma?" That is the mystery!
[ He added in a tone of feigned fascination of his genius naming skills ]
no subject
[That could just be her.]
