Indeed, there's shimmers of silver and rainbow out there in the water, the occasional break on the surface of a long set of iridescent silver blue spines and a lashing, oar fish like tail.

And then, he reaches the beach, clambering happily onto a nearby rock.

Half limber, trim young human, half lashing, silver scaled fish, the clawed and webbed hands and sharp, oversized spines running up his back giving the siren a more feral appearance than any story book mermaid.

It's only exacerbated by the shaved head, and that shark tooth maw has some poor, hapless fish trapped and bleeding inside of it, weakly flopping its last.

There's a very large part of Eleanor, also known as her common sense, which tells her to run away screaming. Unfortunately her bull-headed stubbornness beats up her common sense and leaves it to bleed out in an alley on 9 out of 10 days.

She thrusts her chin forward, raises her skirts so they won't get wet and walks forward. ]
