Video; Important questions okay

[While most everyone seems to be suffering from the heatwave, Dorian seems less than annoyed by it all when the feed initializes. Now, he's not wearing his robes, and his dark shoulders prove he's wearing an outfit without sleeves, but he seems perfectly comfortable, more so than usual, one could say.

He looks rather pleased with himself, also, and while most of his surroundings aren't in view, it's plain the device is nestled on a desk surrounded by very untidy notes in a flowing hand and that said desk is surrounded by bookshelves that are equally in a state of disarray. No one every accused Dorian of being an orderly worker.

Hello, Genessia! You know, all this talk of a heatwave, and all the lamentation thereof, have gotten me thinking about weather. I know, I know. It's the topic of bores and the unenlightened, something to fill the void at an awkward social gathering, what have you. But, the reason I bring it up is simple: this weather is much more similar to my homeland, which, coincidentally, is in the north of the land from which I hail.

[He folds his hands in front of him on the desk, leaning forward slightly in interest.]

What I would like to know is this: is warmer weather where you come from associated with the north...or the south? Call it a research project.

At home? Swimming pool and air conditioning. Out? Ice dust and ice Pokemon. I made a mini-blizzard at the park. It melted already, but it helped for a few minutes. I've also switched to light boleros instead of jackets.

Thankfully, Dust is external. I manipulate it with my glyphs and know how to use it so I don't accidentally turn myself into an ice cube, but the actual energy expended for that isn't mine. I'd offer you some, but it seems sweating is your preference.
whiteas: (ok but maybe you could shove it up your)

We have aura and semblance, but they're more specialized given that they're specific abilities that extend from someone's soul. There's a unique circumstance with Schnees, but for the most part everyone has a singular ability. One person can go fast, one person can control magnetism, one person can duplicate themselves, and so on. But we don't consider it magic because everyone's capable of something as long as they have a soul, even if they don't know how to use it. Dust acts as elemental energy propellant and isn't strictly magic either, but rather can be combined chemically to have effects that have similarities to other world's magics.

[ Then there are a lot of other things she's aware she doesn't understand properly yet because those whose secrets started being revealed seem to be dead, absent, on the enemy's side, or not talking. ]

They're physically present. I.. admittedly spent some time in a casual relationship with that individual here, so if anyone can confirm that.. [ Hahaha she's just gonna. Not give details now. ] Everyone theoretically has the capability, but most don't activate it. It takes a lot of training to actually learn to utilize it, and sometimes people don't learn what it is they can do until their life depends on it and even then only if they're lucky. It isn't as though every citizen you walk by on the street corner can lift a tree or ice a freeway. That's why people who become huntresses and huntsmen are regarded as heroes and protectors, because we dedicate and often lose our lives to honing our abilities and learning to work together to try to protect everyone else.

It's a very good thing I'm not the type to kiss and tell.

[ Dorian you are a perv. She might show you a picture someday of Flynt at least but come on now. ]

I have plenty of texts. [ She assumes he'll want something more advanced than Dust for Dummies, at least, so she'll provide him with her books.

Which means he should naturally expect loads of textbooks beyond what's required for classes because she's a nerd and, once upon a time, she did open a Beacon Academy subarchway- even if it's since been closed. Of course she got her things out of there. ]
whiteas: (Oh god the first option was better.)

It's this new thing I'm trying where I don't spill private information.

[ It takes a lot of work for Weiss not to be a gossip. If it had been two years ago that he'd arrived, she would've immediately gone to share. Though maybe a little information, just. Vaguely worded. She's trying. She still wants to share though. ]

It turns out it's mildly awkward when you already know your a couple of your boyfriend's... bedroom habits from a friend. Besides, if he comes back there's a strong chance he's not going to remember so that'd be even more uncomfortable if you started sharing details that he doesn't even know.

[ The problem with people disappearing and reappearing from Genessia, hahaha. Whoops. ]

You wouldn't have happened to arrive with books from your world, did you? [ She wants to learn tooooo. ]
whiteas: (Keep going I'm totes paying attention.)

Flynt went home some time ago. Which is why he more than likely wouldn't remember our relationship beyond the slightly rockier one we have back home.

In my defense, [ she points to the device, which mostly just looks like she's pointing at him. ] you are asking me to spill intimate details over the network without so much as a privacy filter.

History first, nothing inaccurate. I have enough trouble sorting out my world's history to worry about sussing out yours. But I would still be interested to know, I happen to enjoy learning others' cultures and histories. [ people and their secret conspiracies, man. ]
