Video; Important questions okay
[While most everyone seems to be suffering from the heatwave, Dorian seems less than annoyed by it all when the feed initializes. Now, he's not wearing his robes, and his dark shoulders prove he's wearing an outfit without sleeves, but he seems perfectly comfortable, more so than usual, one could say.
He looks rather pleased with himself, also, and while most of his surroundings aren't in view, it's plain the device is nestled on a desk surrounded by very untidy notes in a flowing hand and that said desk is surrounded by bookshelves that are equally in a state of disarray. No one every accused Dorian of being an orderly worker.]
Hello, Genessia! You know, all this talk of a heatwave, and all the lamentation thereof, have gotten me thinking about weather. I know, I know. It's the topic of bores and the unenlightened, something to fill the void at an awkward social gathering, what have you. But, the reason I bring it up is simple: this weather is much more similar to my homeland, which, coincidentally, is in the north of the land from which I hail.
[He folds his hands in front of him on the desk, leaning forward slightly in interest.]
What I would like to know is this: is warmer weather where you come from associated with the north...or the south? Call it a research project.

To the east of your homeland? Southeast or northeast. You mentioned before you're accustomed to cold.

And what if I said, it could be associated with almost any island at any time?
I would say these islands are most likely equatorial, meaning they rest along the midline of the globe, much like the island of Seheron, on Thedas.
I...
Okay actually technically you're not wrong. But in the Grand Line only summer islands ever get this hot. In the summer. Summer on a summer island is balls. But then so is winter on a winter island, just balls in the other direction.

[And this is what he's working on, okay. How many people are from the north rather than the south of the center of their planets.]
Were you from the southern hemisphere, you would have said north. True enough, go far enough south and south is north again, but even the word "north" means cold to you, as you've used it to describe the south as well.
Re: video
Oh wow, s'gotta be like two hunnered years 'r so now.
I go down south fer the winter like all them birds do, ain't no fun bein' all northy in winter, water's too cold.
So you're all southy?

Typically it is the Southern part of the globe that experiences heat but it varies across the surface of the planet. Usually those areas closer to the equator experience the most tropical warm weather while the further south and north you go becomes more tepid followed by cold as you reach the pole areas.

It depends on the planet you are at the time. Some don't have seasons, some suffer desert weather all year long while others are completely frozen.

How is it they have no seasons?

[ Alley's clearly propped the phone up on something, because she's rubbing her forehead with her singular, gauntleted hand. ]
Go to bed.

I'm fine, Alleyana, and I have no desire to sleep just yet. I'm satisfying a curiosity.

That's a good question. It depends. It's warmer around the middle of the planet and then colder towards the poles.
[Seth pauses thoughtfully.]
Though this heatwave I might try some of your fashions. Your day more familiar with the heat then I am.

[He allows his gaze to linger on the video feed for a moment before continuing.] Which isn't fair. That's my job.
[A mischievous smile before he continues on with his original topic.]
Yes, yes. The equatorial regions are always warmer. I mean, specifically, when you think of weather and warmth, does your mind, personally, wander south or north?
[He chuckles, a sultry sound, suggestive.]
Well, I find the most cooling of attire to be that which is easily removed, or not worn in the first place.

I'm sure you'll have your chance to distract me. You seem to have a talent for it. [He means it as a general statement, not necessarily that Dorian always distract's Seth.]
Yes. North. If I'm to put it in simple terms.
[Seth chuckles again though it was more subdued this time.]
I think I'd cause a sensation if I walked around with nothing on completely and I'd grow far to bored if I remained inside for so long.

North. North is generally considered colder in my home.
[He clears his throat.]
And so you, as well, hail from the northern half of your own planet, it seems. Far more common than the opposite. I wonder if that means something.
What world are you from, which seems, strangely, a far more intimate question than 'who are you'. [He chuckles.] I am Dorian of House Pavus, though 'Dorian' is just fine.
and picking his brain might be more fruitful than some others here. Nodding in turn, he flasshes a smile.]
Arro Caine, normally I would favor more polite address, but as most prefer it the other way; Dorian~ A pleasure. Now to consider your musings; we'd need a collection of data, and have to account for the fact many are not well-versed in the study of their own world. The fast summary is that if the south warmer, that part of the planet is what faces the sun most of the time. Almost a shame no one has yet to bring it up before...
