Alright... I'm pretty sure it's normal for folks to have the 'what the hell' reaction upon arriving here. I mean, no offence to Weise, or how ever you pronounce your name, sorry. But no offense, being told I was kidnapped in a cheerful voice doesn't fix the fact that I'm not exactly okay with this.

[The video shows a person looking in their young teens with amber eyes and light brown hair, frowning at the camera.]

Is there anyone I can actually talk to, not just a hologram, that can... maybe give me some more answers? I read everything, and I get that I need the necklace...

[She holds up her red necklace, then the manila envelope.]

And that the money helps but... I've still got questions like the how, and why and general what the hell is going on. If anyone's willing to chat with me, I'd be grateful. I do good over electronics, but seeing someone in person wouldn't be too upsetting really.

Uh... if anyone who knows me is out there... please let me know.

Ugh... what even? Why are some adults so weird?

[She shrugs, looking only a little embarrassed.]

Well... it's the truth? Besides... I think it sounds a little less crazy than 'I pilot a robotic space lion that can merge with other robotic space lions to make a giant robotic warrior that is a legendary warrior and defender.'

I dunno. Taxes, probably.

That only sounds a little LESS crazy though. The first thing people are going to want is proof, and I doubt this place was nice enough to let you keep your space lion, IF you have one.

Sounds as good a theory as any.

I have my bayard, which is the weapon of a paladin of Voltron.

[She props the device up and steps away, until she is in full view. She then brings her hand down to her thigh. An arch of electricity comes from the detailing there until something that looks like a video game controller mixed with knuckles, appears just in her grasp. She takes hold of it, and it transforms into a green colored triangular blade.]

Only paladins have these, and each one connects directly to our lions.

[Did you know that, at just the right moment, a kid's eyes can grow to saucers? This is happening with Louise right now, because one thing was not supposed to ANOTHER thing, stuff that cool only happened in anime. THE BEST ANIME].

S-so wait, you actually pilot a lion, and you can form a big ass robot?

THAT. IS. BOSS.

Well, the giant robot I don't pilot alone. The other four paladins are there, and we work together...

But yeah.

It's like old school anime! Awesome!

I mean, kind of anyway. If we were talking old school anime, you'd probably have some high squeaky voice or something, since you're on the small side.

Eh... I guess. I'm glad I have my own voice though. I mean I'm not that small for fourteen, so I don't think I'd have an overly high pitched voice.

And you shouldn't either. That would just be weird.

So when do you want to meet?

How about... one week. I am going to be trying to get a job, do that will let me see about getting cash going. And that way I can know more of how this place works.

It's alright. Probably tech work, it's what I'm good at.

Computers, scanners, cloaking devices... you name it. If it's tech... I'm pretty darn good at it.

I hope so, I hate not being able to buy things... or having to do things the way others say, just because I'm not an adult yet.

Oh my god, I KNOW, right?! I'm supposed to be happy that I get a stipend and this place for "kids" to live, like yay, thanks for the charity, but you're still nothing but a cute little blob to kick around for the "grown-ups" for all you matter!

Well... If I make enough, I might see if I can start up a place for those of us who aren't 'adults' but want to be independent. I don't know how I'd make it work yet, but I'm sure I could figure something out. and if there's others our ages around they might not like being stuck to a stipend either.

"Sounds like a plan. We may be young but that doesn't mean we are helpless, or need someone to just hand us things. Besides, in my world at least, I was already part of the military, who's to tell me that I'm too young to take care of myself? Maybe we can start a business or something."

"Whoa, they let you be a part of the military when you're that young? What kind of cool world is that?! I mean, robot lions, a mech AND kids in the military! Why would they even bring you out here to this dump?"

Well... I may not have let them know my real age... or name. And... people on my Earth have no idea about the paladins or the lions... that's all happened out in space.

And I don't know why they brought me here, maybe they need fighters? Or people who are good with tech? Or... it's random.

Yeah, people on Earth are... unlikely to believe that a fourteen year old can be as good at comms and tech as I am, or for that person to be a girl either. So they thought I was a sixteen year old boy.

We left Earth pretty fast... if anyone saw us, it was just a few and likely they covered it up. They don't want the world knowing aliens exist. Or that there is more outside our solar system. Control.

Seems pretty random. I mean, if they were looking for fighters, you should have been safe at home, but... there are a lot of people here... but everyone has talents too... so maybe the hope is with enough variety we can make... something happen? I don't know.

[So Pidge was a girl? Good, Louise thought Pidge was cute, imagine if it was a b-wait, THAT WAS WORSE! Well, at least she was closer to her age, she didn't want Pidge too close to that loser Logan's age].

That's just dumb. When aliens finally do show up, imagine when people realize that was kept a secret. I think I'd be even more angry.

Well... they knew me as a girl, name and age change wouldn't have been enough. As a girl I was banned from the whole area. So being a boy made me that more 'different' from what they were on the lookout for.

[Some people seemed to tell she was a girl easily enough, and she didn't care either way, so it was fine, to her, to admit to Louise that she was, in fact, a girl.]

Who knows... they probably figure war will happen with the aliens first and then they will be too much the 'heroes' for anyone to question.

Or... people often need a reason to fight. For some that's in the form of family or the need to protect those that can't fight. Maybe... that's why kids are here? To give the idea of family and people who need fighters to fight for them?

Why did it matter that much that they knew you as a girl? Is there some kind of advanced form of "cooties" in your world?

That's a pretty lousy thing to do, but that's the government for you, I guess.

That...sounds like garbage. So that would mean I'm brought here to inspire people! That's ridiculous! I'll have you know that I don't inspire anyone! I mean, I'm a Belcher, we're pretty much the equivalent of a human dumpster fire!

Naw, they just knew the girl Katie Holt too well... apparently putting on my brothers glasses and cutting my hair, calling myself a boy... all was enough too fool them... even though I ended up looking like a younger copy of my brother.

I was only saying that might be the intended purpose, but if they aren't being too careful about who they are grabbing... they might be getting just what they bargained for.
