[The video feed activates and it's evident that Minori is on the move. She's rather distressed but not panicking. She's not the helpless newb she used to be even if she wasn't even close to as strong as the others. There also seems to be a lot of soft jingling just out of the video feed.]

Please excuse me, is this still Elder Tales? I don't remember hearing about a Genessia City on the Yamato Server... I tried calling everyone on my friends' list but I just get a message about the player not being available.

[Minori looks away to check a street sign and then back at the phone.]

I'd like to thank the girl in white for the informative hologram as well! It was really helpful!

Minori sighed after hanging up. It didn't seem like there was a guild hall in this city for some reason, so maybe she wasn't in the game still. But she was still in her gaming avatar and could pull up the command menu. The city did seem safe enough but Minori kept her staff out just in case. The girl visibly shook herself and started walking again. The hologram had recommended she go to a place called 'Haller Home' and it was as good a place to start as any.

A short time later, a message appeared on the phone.

No name attached to the text, only an image on screen as a background. The icon was being made of an inverted flared triangle encircling a point. A solid triangle hovered just above the top bar at the midway point. Near the bottom point there were two matching pairs of triangles, the pair closest to the bottom point smaller than the other solid triangles with nearby pair slightly further up the line the slightly larger than the point at the top.

This is not Elder Tales. How did you access Yamato's systems? Explain.
What is your designation and who is your Flagship? Why are you not responding on the network?

Whoever it was sounded direct and to the point if not a bit hostile about something mentioned in the video.

A few minutes later, another reply came via text. It still had no name, just the same icon as the previous message.

It is the title given to a leader of our guild. We use naval terminology for our positions. I am used to communicating with others in the guild that use our terms. I apologize for the confusion.

Was this person even playing the same game?!

Our guild master is called Shiroe. Im in Log Horizon based in Akiba. I havent met a guild using naval terms before. Are you from a different server?

The reply came quickly.

Correct. My guild is on a different server. Our guild master is called Yamato and runs a server not in Log Horizon for communications. It has a password to log into. Someone without the password accessing it was unexpected. We don't like the idea of someone knowing our guild's private server's information.

The world doesn't make much sense in many areas. Like death for example. You can't technically die here. [A pause.] Let me explain, you can die, but you come back after a few days, though it does mean having to give something up. I remember I did, but can't remember what I gave up exactly.

Alright. That part is like the game... If an Adventurer died, they would just revive back at the closest city cathedral. I'm not really sure if I gave up anything but it was a really strange experience. People of the Land don't revive though...

[Haru really didn't have much luck in figuring out what she wanted to do in form of work that wasn't the diner. But she looked around regardless. However, she soon found herself stopping for a moment, spotting the new arrival. At least that was what she guessed anyway.]

[There was nothing quite like scrolling through every function on a phone to show how new a person was to having it, so it was a fairly solid guess. The greeting broke through her examination at least and Minori turned her attention to the other young woman.]

I thought it would be a good idea to find the major landmarks of this city and learn more of the basics. This place seems to have some similarities to where I was before, but... it's very different.

[Minori paused slightly and perhaps had a moment of awkwardness before continuing.]

Well, I've found myself trapped in an unfamiliar world before at least. I'm not used to this place yet but I'm getting a lot of help so far! It's just a little odd because I'm still not in my original body but I get the impression other people are.

Of course when someone dressed as a shrine maiden walked down the street, a certain youkai was bound to take notice. Not to mention the person in question was a new mind. Fresh from the bay.

She followed at a distance for a short time before drifting forward over her shoulder. Tilting her head, she'd eventually drift forward and start tugging on her sleeve.

"Hello. Miss? Can you see me? Can you hear me? Heeey."

Minori was a bit too busy taking stock of the city surrounding her to really note the floating follower. Street names, crossroads, how many blocks it was between the points on her map, how big a block was...

There really was no better way to get her attention than what Koishi ended up doing. A tug on the sleeve, a greeting and question, Minori turned her full focus away from her map and completely on the... girl? Floating girl? Floating girl with clothes that would totally fit in on the streets Minori had been walking a two weeks ago?

"Oh! I'm sorry I wasn't paying enough attention..." Minori will give a polite half-bow and then look a little sheepish. "Hello, I can see and hear you... I'm supposed to... right?"

Or was she not supposed to? No, if she wasn't supposed to hear or see the girl, why would the girl try get her attention? A closer look and Minori smiled a little more naturally. "I'm Minori, sorry. I'm still getting used to being in such a different place again so I was a little too focused."

"Nope! Most people can't see me. Or rather they can see me but their brain's cant understand that I'm there. So they just look past me." She tipped her hat up with her thumb, but she was wary about getting any closer. The floating blue sphere and cords swayed from side to side restlessly and- wait. Was that an eye?

It was! A closed eye attached to fleshy cords that connected at her ankles. Combined with the floating and eyes that glowed with an inner light, this girl was likely some sort of monster. (She would probably be a raid boss though so don't go fighting her alone Minori.)

"My name is Koishi Komeiji. I'm a satori youkai, but you don't have to be scared. I can't read minds anymore. It's nice to meet you! But I'm gonna call you 'miss' for now since I'm not good with names. Okay?"

"Oh..." Minori considered the idea of people looking at her but refusing to see her... She could understand being dismissed as one of thousands of girls wearing a school uniform, but the idea of a mind rejecting her existence wasn't something she could imagine on short notice. The idea of such a cute girl being rejected by peoples' brains seemed oddly lonely to Minori. Or maybe it was just her miko class giving her an affinity towards not-humans?

And really, Koishi wasn't exactly ultra-weird in terms of character design. Elder Tales allowed for animal and plant inspired characters, so extra appendages happened. Though the closed eye and cords were a little different than what Minori was used to, nothing screamed 'attack the monster!'. Besides, Minori still had the 'in town = no combat' mentality. Soooo not going after a raid boss any time soon!

"Koishi Komeiji? I'm not really scared, just a bit nervous." Minori actually smiled a bit more at the admission of not being good with names. "I don't mind if you don't remember my name. I'm not that memorable after all compared to you."

[Miko uniform. Short brown hair. Fair distance away. Crowd. All of these things add up to a situation that stops Soma dead in his tracks. He rubs his eyes, just to make sure they aren't playing tricks on him. Nope - that definitely is a shrine maiden over there, one who looks an awful lot like his best friend.]

[And yet, as he gets closer, he sees it can't be her - she's too short, for one thing, and her hair isn't quite the same color. Similar enough she could be Mina's little sister, though, if she had any siblings.]

[Minori turned at the call since it did sound very close to a shorter version of her name, but the young man was remarkable enough that Minori was sure she'd remember meeting him before.]

Oh! That's alright...

[She smiled a little hesitantly. Just a liiiiitle stranger-wary in an unfamiliar place.]

I hope you find who you're looking for, mister.

[He smiles back, a little sadly.] Thank you. I hope... well, I hope I don't see her here, but back home...

[He'll leave it at that, and turn to walk away.]

[Minori will grip her staff just a little bit tighter than actually necessary. From the look in her eyes it was obvious she was fighting with herself over something. How to ask, would it be rude, would it be misunderstood, would it be insulting... GEH. Her eyes finally grew resolved and a little bit wary.]

I'm sorry to ask this, and I really don't mean any sort of insult! This isn't my original body so I'm just wondering... Is that your original body? That you were born with...
