Arrival - (Voice/Video/Action)

(Voice/Video)

[The man on the screen looks calm but wet. It has taken him little time to figure out the phones and get all the information from the hologram and pamphlets. He's been to a lot of worlds though this is the first one with a welcome center.]

I'm looking for a man named Rumpelstiltskin. He also goes by Gold.

Thanks.

[With his message spoken he hangs up.]

(Action)

[Neal's first public stop is to a bar to grab a beer and hear whatever the hell is going on with this city. The information is helpful but it doesn't have a current events section. Once at the bar he pulls out a newspaper that he had picked up, orders a beer and begins to read.

Bounties, job openings... it's a weird mix of Storybrook and the Enchanted forest. He's not sure what to make of it but for the moment he's stuck here. Being stuck here doesn't concern him as much as other things, but that's what the beer is for.]

[ There was nothing but silence on his end for a several long seconds. That put an unexpected twist on the situation. Jefferson's predicted outcome was that either he'd get no answer and he'd have to make a hobby of watching this guy, or the answer he did get would be something along the lines of a deal going awry. In the latter case he'd have information to his advantage. In a way, he still did if the man's claim was true -- but family was the one area he really didn't want an advantage in. He had no reason to disbelieve that this was Rumpelstiltskin's son. He may have asked for him by name, but he wasn't broadcasting their association. That was only when pressed. Saying you were his son definitely wasn't something you'd do unless it was the truth. What kind of liar would have a death wish so dire to claim as much? ]

You're Baelfire?

[ He sighed, realizing what a mess this was going to be to explain. He was going to have to figure out a frame of reference for just how far along in the timeline Baelfire even was before he could say much. There was a good chance it was further along than he was, which made the fact that he was the one delivering information seem wrong in some fundamental ways he couldn't quite pinpoint. ] Your father told me about you. We were... acquainted. Friends in a way. [ At least he thought they were. Hard to tell with that guy. ] The point is, what nobody else has been able to tell you is that he was here at one point. Wasn't for long, but if you have questions about that I'm probably the only one left that can try to answer them.

[ Probably because most things involving Rumple don't sound quite right. ]

Mostly, but that obviously wasn't the only realm we've both occupied at once. [ Hopefully that was vague enough to be considered a normal statement if this guy didn't know about Storybrooke, but also obvious enough if he did. ] He was around a few months. Mostly kept to himself outside of a few people. He mentioned a pawn shop once or twice so I assume that's what he did most of the time. [ Just a little more prodding couldn't hurt. ]

Honestly, don't worry about it. I'd like to think he'd do the same for me. [ Would he, though? He pushed the thought aside, almost nodding in acknowledgment before remembering there was no visuals between them. ] For your sake I hope he does. Not good in what way? [ There was a moment of hesitation before he spoke again. ] Jefferson. I'm Jefferson. [ If he knew he'd made someone feel hopeful he probably wouldn't know how to react. That usually wasn't his forte. ]
