[The video opens to what appears to be a rather ordinary man - dark hair, square jaw, and a smudge of something red over his nose. His face is too close to the screen, brow furrowed in concentration. It quickly melds into surprise, then disbelief - and maybe even a hint of amusement.]

And here I was, hoping I'd just landed in the Fade somehow.

[His tone is very light, and he sighs, pulling back from the phone enough that he inadvertently allows the camera to focus better on him.]

I'll have to admit to being at something of a loss. Attempts on my life usually don't come with instruction manuals. It's an interesting change, but I do prefer things a little more straightforward!

Oh. And if you are trying to kill me? I have to admit my head feels a little foggy and I appear to be unarmed, so it's probably a good time. We can talk about this whole thing, maybe get some drinks while you ramble on about your plan?

[There's a beat, Hawke looking around him, head tilted as if listening for an ambush. He shrugs.]

It was worth a try.

[When Seth replies he's sitting somewhere beneath the shade of an oak tree. The shadow of the tree dance along his pale skin while the wind pulls at pristine white hair. Pale yellow eyes stare at the screen while an amused smile twists at the mans lips.]

It's usually rather peaceful here. I have met a few people who like to monologue. I suppose I can send them your way.

[Dorian is the first to come to mind.]

[Well, the small sliver of whatever place this latest person was sitting in certainly looked peaceful enough.]

I'll pass. They're mostly good for buying time. Have you been here long then?

I read to buy the time.

[Which is what he'd been doing.]

Not long, a few months perhaps.

[When you live for over a thousand years you measure time a little differently.]

You know what, I'll have to try that. The next time someone comes at me with a knife, I'll just pull out a book. I'll have brushed up on my reading in no time.

[Hawke's voice was measured but amused. It's not meant as a jibe per say, but Hawke has a habit of making things come off that way.]

I should make myself comfortable then.

[He'll find that it's very hard to insult Seth.]

Books against knifes are actually very useful. More so if it's a very thick book.

[Seth snickers softly. He fights when he has to but he's never cared for it.]

Yes, I've found myself a job and I recommended it to help pass time. [He shrugs.] And pay for things. [Though Seth hasn't bothered with finding lodgings since he doesn't need them. He's find with resting wherever is comfortable. Which is usually in a forest somewhere.]

Actually reading them on the battlefield may bring down their effectiveness a hair, don't you think?

[It's therapeutic sometimes, but mostly fighting is just necessary. Would he go looking for one? Who knows. He's never had to, so far.]

That should be an interesting experience. Though I do have a lengthy resume. That absolutely no one here should be able to back up. Hm.

Yes though I find the most surprising attacks not to be on a battle field.

[Seth rolls his shoulders in a careless shrug.]

I thought the point of a resume was to lie on it?

[Says the man who has never had one.]

Now, now. Anything can be a battlefield once you're attacked on it.

[He moved to crack his neck.]

I can't say that I'm much of an expert.

If that's the definition you'd like to use, yes.

[Seth isn't in a good position to argue.]

Besides fighting, what do you think you might do?

[A smile. Yes, that is the definition he'll be using. For now.]

Well, I've done a lot of eradicating pests and fetching ingredients, but I don't suppose there's an opening for that around here. Everything seems a bit... polished.

There are jobs like that in Fayren. I've been told that the forests around there have a lot of things that need to be fetched and it can be dangerous work.

[Which seems fitting for him.]

That sounds perfect. I could do without the forest, but beggars can't be choosers.

I think they have openings. It won't hurt anyone for you to ask.

[If it does hurt to ask a question then they clearly have bigger problems.]

That's good - I hate an unnecessarily violent employer.

[Somehow, this means thank you.]

Any other advice before I stop standing around like an idiot?

[It almost sounds like a thank you.]

Not really.

[Seth flashes him a smile.]

However, if you continue to stand around like an idiot I am sure more people will offer you their opinions.

[Hawke chuckles a little, appreciative of the joke.]

That would be fun, if I wasn't sure most of them would boil down to, 'get out of my way,' 'stop standing there like an idiot,' and my personal favorite, 'buy this over-priced and probably stolen junk.'

[Seth chuckles softly.]

That last one is my favorite too.

And its less business-minded counterpart; 'Give me all your money.'

But I suppose I should follow the advice I've just been given and see about getting a move on. I imagine I'll see you around?

Yeah. I'm usually around Everglade but if you need something give me a call.

[He literally doesn't sleep.]

I will. Likewise, I suppose, if there's anything I can help you with. I'll at least consider it.

[Seth chuckles. He likes this guy.]

It seems to be the thing to do around here.

[And, with a nod goodbye he - struggles with the device for a good thirty seconds, with at least one muttered curse before the video cuts out.]
