Video -- More of a Hawke, Really
[The video opens to what appears to be a rather ordinary man - dark hair, square jaw, and a smudge of something red over his nose. His face is too close to the screen, brow furrowed in concentration. It quickly melds into surprise, then disbelief - and maybe even a hint of amusement.]
And here I was, hoping I'd just landed in the Fade somehow.
[His tone is very light, and he sighs, pulling back from the phone enough that he inadvertently allows the camera to focus better on him.]
I'll have to admit to being at something of a loss. Attempts on my life usually don't come with instruction manuals. It's an interesting change, but I do prefer things a little more straightforward!
Oh. And if you are trying to kill me? I have to admit my head feels a little foggy and I appear to be unarmed, so it's probably a good time. We can talk about this whole thing, maybe get some drinks while you ramble on about your plan?
[There's a beat, Hawke looking around him, head tilted as if listening for an ambush. He shrugs.]
It was worth a try.

[Well. She thinks she's funny, anyway. She's sitting on the floor in front of her bed, holding her communicator in front of her.]
I just arrived last night myself. It's definitely an interesting experience! I'm Orihime Inoue, nice to meet you.
[Which is true; she likes people with a sense of humor and he seems to be taking his circumstances in stride. She bows her head politely in greeting.]
What's the Fade?
Re: [Video]
[A smile played on his lips and he peered down at the screen, and the video now playing on it in interest. He was chalking it up to some kind of scrying magic, for the time being - whatever the papers he had skimmed had said. Since he hadn't had to bleed to turn the thing on he wasn't too concerned.]
Garrett Hawke. Though it's mostly just 'Hawke' lately. I'm not sure what my first name ever did to anyone, it certainly hasn't told me.
[When she asks about the Fade he laughs.]
You have to be kidding. It's - It's the Fade.
[Okay, she's made up her mind already that she likes this person, and knows better than to compete with him in the realm of comedy. Better that he has a receptive audience or 'straight man' for his routine instead of an amateur competitor.]
Which do you prefer? It's pretty common for people to address one another by their family names where I'm from. I wouldn't want to be too familiar when it isn't earned! But I don't mind using your given name if that's better for you.
[She sits back with a grin at his explanation, then gives her head a light shake before laying a hand against the center of her collarbone.]
I was pulled here from a different world than you, I think! So I've never heard of it before. My planet's called Earth, and I'm from the country of Japan, the city of Karakura Town. It's a suburb of a bigger city called Tokyo. Although...I guess if it's exotic enough, there might be a place called Fade somewhere else. I just haven't heard of it before!

[When this feed begins, a seemingly gorgeous young woman appears with bright blue eyes and black hair with hints of gray appears. She's quite decadent in style, almost absurdly so in this bright vermilion robe with little gold accents upon them. Very fancy, almost laughably so but believe it or not, that's no woman.
The fluffy gray-black cat ears upon his head twitch a little but mostly seem to stay rather still. Nao typically hides his ears within his hair but not today.]
If anyone tries to do you harm, I'll lend you my aid.
Re: video
Sorry - There's something on your head.
[That was as close to tact as he could manage. Probably, right now if he were there Carver would have been elbowing him. The thought hurt, and he shook his head.]
I'm sure you're aware of that though. This? [He raises a hand to point to the stripe.] No. Anything else you see? Probably yes. I appreciate the offer of assistance, I suppose you'll have some favor you'd like me to do first?
Re: video
I'm quite aware that my appearance is quite unusual amongst humans, thank you.
[If Hawks thinks the fuzzy cat ears are odd, then how about that angrily flickering tail?]
Is general kindness something rarity in your realm? I require nothing since I merely mean to help.

People try to kill you pretty often?
Re: [ Video ]
Me, people in my vicinity. People whose vicinity I happen to be in... As you can obviously tell, they're usually not very good at it.
[ Video ]
[ Wry smile, nearly a grimace. ]
Not a bad idea, s'long as the death part doesn't happen. I hear it kinda sucks.

Hawke. They've taken you as well.
Re: [video]
[The familiar face raised Hawke's spirits immensely, and he fought to keep from grinning into the little window.]
It makes sense. I am a very desirable person after all.
[Just because he hadn't dreamed of finding any of his friends there with him didn't mean he wasn't thrilled to see one, and just because trying to be more than that had been an insanely short-lived affair didn't make him any less fond of the elf.]
You do yourself much credit, Hawke...as always.
[The mirth didn't last long, as it rarely did, though.]
When did you arrive?

On the contrary, the best murder attempts always come with instruction manuals, at least in my experience.
[But that's beside the point.]
I couldn't help but notice you mentioned the Fade. Am I to assume you hail from Thedas?
Re: [ video ]
[He shrugged, a general sort of 'what will you do?' gesture.]
As a matter of fact, I do. Kirkwall, most recently. I'm sure you can imagine how strange this place must be to me without all the depressing statuary about.
[ video ]
[He smiles at the man. He has quite a beard, this one. It matches his Ferelden accent, which all ties in well with who this man is, at least to Dorian's memory, which is fairly keen.]
Ah, but Kirkwall smells better most days, which is saying something. [He smirks.] You know, you'd think they'd have taken them down after a few hundred years, though I suppose they serve well enough to hem in their mages. [He inclines his head in greeting.] Dorian Pavus, most recently of...well, Orlais for lack of a more specific locale. [He pauses a beat.] Originally, I hail from Qarinus in the province of Asariel in the Tevinter Imperium. Much less opulent than the former, but far more tyrannical, depending on one's perspective. [He makes a motion of greeting.] Well met.

[Krista said it in a joking manner, giving off a brief smile.]
But in all seriousness, the only things trying to kill us are occasionally the world.

Video - Late
It's usually rather peaceful here. I have met a few people who like to monologue. I suppose I can send them your way.
[Dorian is the first to come to mind.]
Re: Video - Late
I'll pass. They're mostly good for buying time. Have you been here long then?
Video
[Which is what he'd been doing.]
Not long, a few months perhaps.
[When you live for over a thousand years you measure time a little differently.]

Eheh, sorry, I'm afraid the world is very much interested in your life, though more for its emergence than its ending. Unfortunately I've no plans for the latter myself, so long as you don't let any schemes involving chronomancy get the better of you. At any rate, welcome back! How's Kirkwall doing?
[Recounting people's past lives in Genessia, however short, was a favorite parlor trick of his. Unfortunately it never earns him the mystique he'd like. Maybe this time!]
Re: [Video]
[It made more sense than anything else, didn't it? Then there was the question of how this man knew he'd come from Kirkwall. He was on guard now, to a slightly higher extent than he had been.]
