[The phones tune in to the sweet dulcet tones of Cassian at his grumpiest. Kay had picked up his communicator from the floor after it was dropped by accident during a fight with Akihiko, and he accidentally turned on the voice option.]

Maybe if someone has gotten here sooner instead or away getting a coffee fix things would have gone differently.

[The droid snaps back, unable to keep the snappy tone out of his voice. He is rarely this confrontational with Cassian but he's in a terrible mood because the joints of his right arm seem to have been affected by Caesar's lighting attack.]

Maybe if someone had learnt to follow orders sometime within the last decade things wouldn't fall apart as soon as I take a coffee break!

[And off they are...10 years of petty grievances being dug up and flung at another as they work through their frustrations and feelings of helplessness in their very own way.  They're very loud and not very nice.]

Him, he's blonde with amazing abs and a monkey tail. He works over in Fayren, and owns Under the Sun and Over the Moon. He runs the Beacon Bounty Boards too.

Is he not human? That's why he has a tail?

He's a faunus. They're a prominent species on my world characterized by some form of a single animalian characteristic, night vision, and a couple of other species specific characteristics.

Interesting. Are the traits hereditary? If you had an offspring with him it might have a tail too?

[ wow Kay what a question. She hesitates for a moment, both because she's thrown by the question and because it's a very clear reminder that it doesn't matter how much they love each other, that's a life they probably won't be able to have. ]

If we were to, I imagine it might. It would definitely have my hair color, but it's a big if. It's never happening unless we can figure out how to stay here for the rest of our lives.

That would be cute. However, not knowing what could happen or if we were going to be dragged back to our own home-world all of sudden is very upsetting.

There's a reason the GSRF was founded to research having a choice in whether we stay or go.

[ not having a future sucks. Not remembering not being alone also sucks. There are plenty of dead people here too. ]

Yes but so far there hasn't been much success, right?

[Kay can only hope that if Cassian were to disappear, Kay could go with him. Even if they are one of those dead people who have nowhere to go.]

It's been two years. Science and research takes time. I just.. hope it isn't too much.

Sun is in love with my friend back home. I'm alone, with no home and nothing but a suitcase and an idea. Like my brother said, I'm the same in some ways, but very different in others. Not existing here would be like not existing, and this person I am now will never exist again. I'm not the only one that's happened to, and certainly not the only one who needs a home now more than ever. I'll find a way to make this work.
