Good afternoon, everyone. I'd like to talk, today, about Time and, more specifically, the record thereof. You see, through quite a bit of research I'll not bore you with, I've determined the calendar utilized here correlates well enough with my own. The 10th month of the calendar used by Genessia and its environs began yesterday, at midnight. It is referred to as 'October'. In my own world, Frumentum or as it's referred to by the common folk "Harvestmere" will be beginning in roughly two days time. We have 12 months, divided into 30 days each. If Genessia continues on a path consistent with its previous course, its calendar year consists of 365 days, save for every 4th year, when some brilliant scholar ages ago realized they were losing time and devised a rough patching that's consisted into the present day. I've of course not been around here long enough to have experienced this mythical "leap year", but Genessia's calendar, along with many of its residents, seem to hail for "Earth". It's the "Roman" calendar, which is a rather interesting topic in regards to both Earth and Thedas, but, well...

[He clears his throat, turning his gaze to an open journal before him.] I digress grossly.

Last month on Thedas, we began the month with the Annum "All Souls Day", and it would seem there are several similar holidays at the end of this Genessian month. I've read about several of them, but I'm curious what your traditions are. In Thedas, the holiday is rather dour. We dress as ghosts and parade about at midnight, very sad. We don't even get a feast! What do you do?

The world I'm from is covered in monsters that are attracted to negative emotions. We only have four kingdoms because that's all we've really managed to fortify. Anything outside of the kingdoms has a tendency to disappear overnight from bandit tribes or Grimm, or Grimm after the bandits cause a panic. There's a big chance that war is coming soon, but not yet. There's a reason we huntresses and huntsmen start young.

[ and also a reason there really aren't many older hunters who aren't teachers. Despite that fun reality she's got a little laugh on her lips ]

Who was ignoring it? When I figured it out the only reason he got it first was because I was trying to figure out how to properly tell him I didn't want to be best friends anymore. I don't really wallow when I want someone.

I see...How long have these "Grimm" been an issue? We have a similar affliction: Darkspawn. War has come at their behest...five times, now?

[He clears his throat.]

Ah, well, it's good you're so in touch with your emotions.

[Who's wallowing? Not me. I've never "wallowed" and I certainly wasn't reflecting.]

According to some, as long as humans and faunus have. We have some in our subarchway if you ever want to fight some of the weaker ones.

[ haha wallower. Weiss's hangups are usually more along the lines of no one having any chance unless she decides she wants them first. She's pretty impossible to ask out otherwise because she just assumes everyone has an ulterior motive. ]

I make a point not to lose track of who I am and what I want anymore. I spent far too much time doing that already, and I highly recommend it.

Faunus? [He's never heard her refer to these people before, and she's piqued his curiosity. Of course, doing so isn't all that hard.] Ah, really? [Now see, that has gotten his attention.] I may have to take you up on that offer.

I know very well who I am, Weiss. I left home specifically because it wasn't who anyone else wanted me to be. I've never lost track of that.

[Oh, he's with it. He's just never really had someone interested in who he is sticking around until, well, recently, and it's taking a lot of time to adjust to. If he lets himself care only to find out he was wrong...well, he's pretty sure he'll never recover. Just nevermind the part where you never really have a choice in any of that.]

Faunus, that's- what Sun is. They're physically similar to humans, except for a few key differences such as an animal attribute and night vision. They vary greatly in terms of what those attributes are- anything from antlers and tails to fangs and scales. Sun's is a prehensile tail, like a monkey.

Moderate. It's not the kingdom I'm from, it's the one I went to school at. The most you'll need is a light sweater if it's chilly.

[ Plus whatever fighting stuff he wants to wear- Weiss fights in her skirt and heels though so she doesn't always think to recommend specific battle gear. ]

I didn't mean it like that. I more meant.. any time is a lot of time to waste on not going after what you want and wading around in uncertainty about your feelings for someone. A good friend of mine was killed and never said something until just before it happened, when it was too late and only left the person she liked guilt-ridden for not noticing.

Sun has a monkey's tail? [Yes, for a moment, that was all he picked out of all that.] ...that was unworthy of me, but...are these attributes shared through familial relations, similar to eye color?

I see, and the kingdom you hail from is a sight colder, I assume?

[He frowns.]

That is...admittedly tragic, but not a similar situation, really.

A very blonde one. [ This is basically a nicer way of phrasing a similar question that K-2SO asked that she much more appreciates. ] Yes, they're genetic. So if two faunus have a baby, it's a faunus. If a human and a faunus have a baby, also likely a faunus. They're genetically similar enough to humans that that's possible.

Atlas is white on drawn maps, if that gives you an idea of how cold it is.

I wasn't saying it was, I was just saying that's how and why I like to live the way I do.

Likely a faunus, even if one parent is fully human and the other is not? Intriguing. This trait is the dominant one, then?

I'm not a geneticist obviously, and it isn't as though it's a heavily.. accepted relationship type. [ Half the world are a bunch of discriminatory assholes, alright?? ] But as far as I know.

Well I'm sure if there is any information on it, it'd be in the Vale subarchway. I know they have a library and some bookstores.

Worried that I'm doing something to deserve people asking me if my future babies are going to have little white tails even though I'm only 20 years old? Why would I ever be concerned about that?

[ Enjoy that little bit of sarcasm. She is definitely not ready for kids and she doesn't want to be yet and Dorian she knows wasn't implying that because he definitely wouldn't, but other people.. ]

I'd be happy to take you sometime, Dorian.

[He chuckles, smirking slightly.] To be fair, Weiss, you are doing someone that prods the question. Unless...humans in your world are unable to bear children at the age of 20? How odd...

[But he smiles at the change of subject.]

And I would be happy to accompany you.

Of course we can, I'd just rather not stop my life this young when I can have children ten years from now after I'm married.

[ And maybe after she's able to convince herself that she wouldn't be a terrible parent like both of hers are. But that's not something she's shared with anyone and not something she plans on sharing with anyone other than Sun, eventually. ]
