[Orihime's excited face virtually explodes cheer and enthusiasm all over Shinjiro's phone. ~~Gross.~~]

It's here! The bakery is really here! It's on Nettle and 8th! I didn't want to go look at it without you there, so we can both see it for the first time at the same time. When do you get off of work? I can't wait to see it!

Shinjiro-san and I are happy to announce that Cake Town will have a grand opening this Sunday starting at 9 a.m. There are going to be free samples, coupons, and a chance for a spin on the prize wheel with any purchase!

[She pulls her hands into fists, eyes alight with passion.]

It's going to be amazing. Please come check it out! And if you can't make it for the grand opening, that's okay! We'll be open for quite a while, after all.

I wanted to thank all of you for helping to support our bakery, and storing my ingredients when they were in danger of getting wet and ruined. The bakery will be open an hour earlier just for you guys, and you'll get a VIP pass. Free bakery items for the whole day for you and a guest! We'll give you a guided tour of the facilities too, so I'll be looking forward to seeing you there.

Hours?!

[She tips her head back, thoughtful.]

Come to think of it, I've never made my own before. I guess we should if we want our desserts to be as authentic and homemade as possible. It'll depend on how busy we get, I guess.

[And she's had enough of being in the freezer, so she hastens out. She's only got a jacket on, since it's only just starting to dip into colder temperatures for November.]

Maybe we can freeze cakes and dough there too, if that'll help them keep longer.

[ ... Yeah, he'll give Orihime one batch of puff pastry to make, before she just decides to order it. Though maybe he'll be surprised. Shinjiro would help, regardless. It was annoying to make, but at least she'd have help.

He nodded in agreement, and closed the freezer door behind them once they exited. While he had recovered a lot from the medication's side-effects, he still tended to run colder than most people, and peeking in the freezer wasn't super-fun. ]

If they're uniced, sure. I'm pretty sure the frosting would separate from t'cake if it got frozen with it on. Ice crystals would form, too. The cake itself would be fine, though, I think.

[ He actually had the least experience at baking, relative to the rest of his cooking experience. But, most tv shows and magazines he could grab involved baking, so it's not like he was flying blind here, either. ]

.... I feel real good 'bout this.

[ He's glad this was Orihime's enterprise, because if this was his business? Shinjiro would be worried that the universe would try to mess it up for him, somehow. ]

Me too, Shinjiro-san.

[Like proud parents who just gave birth to a bouncing baby building.]

[She does a slow last spin to look at the whole kitchen again, trying to picture herself at each and every station. It's so wonderful. Clasping her hands together, she heaves a sigh of contentment.]

...Upstairs?

... Sure.

[ It's not just Orihime's apartment up there, right? There was going to be an area for an employee lounge too, he thought he remembered her telling him.

Shinjiro let Orihime bound up the stairs, first, before following. ]

[She doesn't go as fast as she did into the kitchen, since she doesn't want to trip on the stairs and eat floor. But she does stop outside of the first of the two doors they come to and takes off her shoes. She's not sure which one will be for her living space. And the use of the other one is tentatively planned for a lounge, but it could easily house another person if somebody needed a place to live. She inserts the key and nudges the door open.]

...Oh, it's carpeted! I'm glad!

[It feels much nicer on her feet, especially when it's cold. The living space is large, but unfurnished. The kitchen has the same appliances an apartment would, though. Orihime steps in, taking her time to investigate and breathe in the 'new apartment' smell.]

[She opens the closet door.]

[It's not a closet.]

SHINJIRO-SAN! A SECRET BED IN THE WALL!

[It's the best thing ever.]

[ It just takes a moment for Shinjiro to toe off his boots, and then he's also inside. It looked like a nice place. He could tell the carpet was just steam-cleaned, it had that fresh smell to it.

Shinjiro felt so relieved, like a 500-pound weight had been taken off of his sohulders. Orihime had a place to stay again. She'd be fine. She had only been homeless for a handful of days. She was perfectly fine.

He ignored small, terrible voice in the back of his mind, which said that if he were a better friend, she wouldn't have had to be homeless at all. ]

... Oh, they've got a hide-a-bed in this place? That'll be handy.

Even your kitchen up here ain't bad, either.

It's awesome...!

[She tips the bed down, bringing the legs out. No sheets or blankets yet, just a mattress, but she's completely in awe.]

It's really, really awesome! Back home I slept on a mat. I'm getting really spoiled, ha ha!

[Even though she just got done exploring the best kitchen to ever exist, she's all too happy to take Shinjiro's cue and investigate her own cooking area.]

It's a lot like the one I had back home! Lots of storage space too...

[Then she wanders off down that short hallway so she can check out the bathroom.]

Oh! The tub is really big! I guess that'll be good for a long soak after a hard day's work, ha ha!

[ Shinjiro lingers in the kitchen space, only feeling a little awkward. He's not sure how much he's at liberty to explore, considering there was a fifty percent chance of this place being Orihime's apartment in the very near future. Not that there was anything here. But.

Orihime seemed very sensitive to certain things, tradition-wise, with the honorifics and letting others help her and just who she accepted help from, too. He didn't want to make her uncomfortable by poking around too much.

Then again, he couldn't just hover there, like a creepy person, either. ]

... Is it set up Western-style, like most of the bathrooms here, or is it a normal one?

Eeto...

[She pops her head back into the bathroom to check.]

I think it's western. The showerhead is above the tub!

[Her sensibilities about having a boy over don't really count for much. He's only visiting, and it doesn't feel like he's in her bedroom. She hasn't even moved in her clothes yet.]

I'm sure the apartment you share with your friend is very nice. But if you ever have need of your own place, well... I'd rather offer it to you as a living space before making it a break room. So let me know if that's what you'd like, okay?

[ Chuckles, shaking his head. ]

I needed to keep Aki from physically staplin himself to my side, so. But I 'preciate the offer. Thanks.

[ He is touched, but he's not quite joking about Akihiko. Especially after the subarchway incident, his friend was really determined to make sure Shinjiro was sticking around.

... Deep down, he could admit it was kind of understandable. ]

[Though she doesn't know Shinjiro freaking died, she would definitely understand Akihiko's sentiments if she did know. She'd do the same if her brother showed up too.]

Then it will be the most luxurious break room anyone could ask for, with a place to lie down if you're not feeling very good. I'll get a western table here too so there's a place to eat. It'll definitely need a TV too...

[Maybe she should get those things for her own place too, but making a comfortable and inviting place to live is priority number one.]

So I'll take the unit further toward the back!

[ ... Yeah, if he could help it, Orihime will never learn that he'd died. In fact, he was pretty determined that nobody learn about that - especially given how Akira reacted when he'd told him. Any friends he'd made here would react worse.

He said, thoughtfully: ]

Maybe a radio, too, if people just wanna relax, but without watchin anythin.

[ Shinjiro didn't even consider asking for an ash tray. He wouldn't ligth up in here - he was really used to smoking outside, anyway. Even if he did get his very own place, some day, he'd probably still take it outside, if only to keep his furnature from stinking up too badly.

He could barely smell it himself, of course, but he knew how annoying other people would find it. ]

I can do that!

[She claps her hands together.]

Do you want one with a CD player so you can bring your music with you? Oh, should we have a radio in the kitchen too? Maybe in the dining area downstairs too, but then people might not agree on the station...

[Orihime hadn't even considered this. What else did she forget?!]

... Maybe somethin our phones can connect to. Through. Um.

[ Shinjiro is much more used to MP3 players that Orihime might be, but that doesn't mean he knows all the terms for the technology off of the top of his head. ]

Uh. Bluetooth. Or whatever it is.

I think most people here would have music on these fancy things, anyway.

[ Considers. ]

If we have any music at all in th'store, it should just be somethin neutral and background, y'know?

[ He actually found stores which blared pop music kind of annoying. ]

[...She's lost. Technology never was her forte, and Shinjiro seems to know way more about what he'd like than she does. So that makes up her mind.]

Why don't you go ahead and buy two out of our budget, one for the break room, and one for the kitchen? I like music too, but with so much to see downstairs and our mind-blowing desserts and good smells, we might overload their senses, ha ha!

[And she has no idea what kind of music to pick that everyone might like except for classical...which...definitely doesn't match the happy, weird atmosphere they've got going.]

[ Aaaaand the only reason he knows anything at all, is because Minato and Fuuka talked about it a lot. So. Well. How hard can it be? He sighs. ]

All right.

[ Shinjiro doesn't really know, either. There was some sort of weird electronic jazz that the coffee shop had played, sure, and some of the music the other kids listened to in the dorms didn't seem that bad. But it really wasn't his thing. He just knew what he didn't like. ]

If anyone complains, we can always take suggestions, too.

[ And kick them out if they got rude about it, of course. ]

That's true! In the meantime, as long as we're working in the back, you can play any music you like. I kind of like everything so I'm not at all picky, ha ha!

[She'll probably sing along with it if she knows the song, too.]

So...we should start ordering supplies now, ne? I have a lot to get ready for our grand opening! And I'll need to go pick up the flour I left at everybody's house, and my clothes... I think he can keep the rice cooker, though, he might need it...

[ Nods. ]

I'll start makin a list.

... I can head back here, after I'm done at the Attleton Guardian place. And once the stuff gets here, I'll try t'spend as much time as I can, makin sure everythin's baked in time.

... You might wanna keep the rice cooker for your place upstairs. Can't live on bread alone.

[ He might be teasing a little, there. ]

Ha ha! That's true! But he's a very nice person, he'll need a rice cooker too. So I'll buy a different one for me with our future profits!

[She'll just have to buy some convenience store bentos and pizza until then. And that is not a fate she minds at all.]

Anyway, take your time. I know you're very busy, so please don't push yourself too hard. The more energy you can bring to the bakery, the better the results of our cooking, ne?

[ His face is almost smiling, there. ]

Yeah, I guess this is gonna be a bump up from your volunteer gig.

[ He just needs to keep an eye on her, make sure she eats right. Just cup noodles isn't going to offer a lot of nutrition.

He shrugs. ]

I'll be fine. Now with the monsters gone, it ain't like I'm fightin til the small hours of th' mornin every night, anymore.
