What: The Haunted House is officially OPERATIONAL, which also means, ALL HANDS ON DECK For Torchwood staff to make sure any collapses in utter chaos can be fixed asap and learned from. THIS INCLUDES A RESTAURANT AND TEASHOP NEXT DOOR!!! Not only is there all manner of vampire treats, but synthetic flesh that has been taste-tested by their resident youkai to get as "yummy" as possible, and also drenched in fear and other emotions from the haunted house next door. Please feel free to fill out a survey or try samples of their um... emotional flavors. Yup!
Warnings: While promoting itself as SAFE AS POSSIBLE: it's definitely on the creepy side. And Rose is VERY nervous about inviting 50+ kinds of species, some with severe bitter racial enmities, and many that eat each other. Just because they're Torchwood, doesn't mean anything; because she doesn't want there to be ANY violence!!! However, all blood (in the restaurant) is carefully bottled, and there are even flavors. Yes. And it's all human safe-too! Though humans are encouraged more towards the synthetic beef/lamb/duck/chicken, non-potato chips, and of course, human-i-tea (get it? humanity??? ehhhh...) But there will be no judging for anyone who wants to try the human-flavored synthetic flesh. You do you, and not all non-humans look non-human. And some humans don't look human either. It's a vast multiverse. Please don't eat/attack your fellow customers, kay, thanks.

HAUNTED HOUSE

For the most part, the haunted house looks exactly like what you'd expect. Creepy, cliche, OBVIOUSLY paying steep homage to the 1930s/1950s gothic amusement park style and straight out of Disneyland or a Japanese anime.

Your first few steps inside even hit the stereotypical cliches! Creeky floorboards, "haunted" soundtracks, fake bats (or are those real? There are some real bats around the house!! They're good for the environment and bat guano is great fertilizer!) trick walls and doors, and REALLY REALLY creepy corridors...

But not everything is so... normal.

There's psychic fields that play specifically on a character's individualized greatest fears. If you fear fire? That room will seem like a furnace, spiders? Webs and illusionary spiders all over! Snakes? All over the ground and wisps of air and the scraping hiss of scales over wood! But the scariest part is that everyone else in your party, won't see it. Only you!

But get beyond that room, things seem back to normal... until a chandelier seems about to crash down on you with a dead body attached!!! WHAT A HOUSE OF HORROR! By all respects, the body will SEEM like a dead body, but this is actually synthetic flesh on sticks, an attempt to soak it with fear. Delicious.

In a creepy stereotypical corridor where all the paintings seem to watch you...

THERE'S NO WAY OUT! THE WALLS ARE CLOSING IN AND GETTING SMALLER!

But no sooner are you about ready to break the walls, and pay for the damages, (and you better believe Torchwood is giving you a warning about the bill for any damages before your first step inside!!!) one of the funhouse mirrors seems to shatter!! (Note: there will be no glass to hit you with shrapnel!!!) And through it comes a long laughing flesh golem!!! YEESH!!!

And the worst part about the Haunted House...

Might just be the tour guide.

Because Cheshire Cat doesn't really seem to care if you get lost, and you can't really be too sure he's leading you through it as much as... just trying to scare you probably. And it doesn't help that he sometimes ditches you into thin air. Worst tour guide EVER.

And should you make it through to the end?

You get lollipops.

Worst Fears OTA

When he catches a flash of green. There, standing in all his glory, is All Might-- except no, it's that broccoli headed motherfucker, Deku, smiling at him so smugly like he won or something, like, like--

What the fuck is he smiling for? "It's okay, Kacchan"]

Fuck you, Deku, and get the hell out of my way. [Why is he towering like All Might, wearing that smile? What right does he have to smile like that?! All Might!Deku extends a hand, which Katsuki swats away, before realizing he can't move his arm. It's been enveloped by some green...sludgy substance, extending right up to Deku's sleeve. Deku's face morphs into a distorted, sickly version of itself, almost like liquid, as he sprouts out more to grab Katsuki's other arm.

"I said it's okay. Don't fight a battle you can't win. I'm already the number one hero, I always was gonna be, besides, Kacchan...

Remember that you're expelled?"

Katsuki's eyes go wide, frozen in horror, before he snaps out of it and roars at the top of his lungs.]

FUCK YOU DEKUUUUUU!!! [He frees himself from the sludge villain/All Might!Deku's grips, leaping into the air in a circle of fire, to kick the face of his nonexistent adversary.]

Worst Fear OTA

[Rip had to admit, she was curious about the haunted house when she heard of it. Which meant obviously, she had to check it out! The first part made her laugh. It was so stereotypical it was hilarious~. Though, the real(?) bats were cute at least. If this was what she could expect from the rest of the haunted house, it was definitely worth a good laugh or two.

At least, until she got to the next room. There was something... off. She tilted her head and kind of froze where she stood as the rest of the group moved on. Fear gripped her when she felt a very familiar darkness overwhelm her and she started to tremble.

She could smell the smoke.. hear the crackling of fire as she heard that taunting maniacal laughter and then words that chilled her to the bone as she felt everything she cared about get torn away.

Rip's greatest fear wasn't a simple one...and it left her frozen in place as she started to hyperventilate and tears trailed down her cheeks. Someone might want to get her out of the room quickly. ]

[Uai had heard that the Haunted House was really well made. Though he initially came here to learn about the ~*SCIENCE*~, he was drawn by the rumors from other patrons. Apparently this place played on your fears? Really accurately? It made him wonder if it really could get into his head and bring his fears to life.

Knowing all of this... This creepy guy decided it sounded great. He isn't horribly worried about things going totally awry, as he has enough trust in this 'Torchwood' not to create a disaster situation with no safety nets in place.

He's immune to most of the scare tactics. Uai quickly makes his way to the specific fears section, finds a place out of the way to stand, and closes his eyes. He can hears the footsteps of his daughters and their laughter. They've grown up without him and are talking about a father, but it isn't Uai. He can also hear Hana's voice, recounting to someone how glad she is that he left. It's his worst fear, sure: His family is better off and happier without him. It disgusts Uai a bit that he fears this more than seeing them all die, but alas: His selfishness is part of what makes this so scary to him.

Worse yet, he's lonely enough to find some sick joy in hearing their voices.

When he hears someone approach, he opens one eye and sighs.]

Sakuya wasn't much for haunted houses. But she had been told she needed to get out more and... well fine. It was as good a choice as any. Besides, its not like she had any fears. Right? She worked with monsters every day. She was the only human (who wasn't Lisa) who was permitted to live in Dracula's castle. There wasn't much that could phase her.

She didn't anticipate what was to come.

The scream came first, causing Sakuya to raise her guard. But it was a haunted house, right? Screams were to be expected- but then she smelled the burning flesh. Drawing her knives, time shivered as she leaped forward through the darkness. Her nose led her to a slumped form on a chair, pinned to it by a spear baring the emblem of the church's vampire hunters. The body was charred to the bone and still smoldering, the remains of broken wings hanging lifelessly from either side. By her side lay a silver tray and broken china dotted with tea soaked gingersnap crumbs. A winter breeze blew in from the broken window carrying with it the smell of salt and rain and burning whale oil.

She knew this place. She knew this time. The first time her blades took a life burned vividly in her mind. But this time she was too slow. She had let her guard down and- Her stupor was broken as the body began to crumble, the maid bounding forward a fraction of an instant too late.

Nails digging into the sides of her head, pulling her hair. She didn't realize she was screaming, her legs giving way. Why hadn't she been faster? She could control time! Why hadn't she been faster?!

The world around her shimmered, a cold, metallic horror rippling out from the room, ripping things apart and cleaving great rifts into the fabric of reality. Time was being wounded faster than it could mend. Fear. Rage. Sorrow... The glass on her watch's face cracked under the strain. She would kill that damned priestess. She would take her head even if it cost her life!

HAUNTED EATINGS: An Alternative Eats Restaurant & Emotional Teashop

Rose is also worried about whether they'll ever be able to keep up supply to meet demand, but start small, let it go big? Something something...

There's also mixes of various plasma/synthetic bloods to try to create flavors so there's options for all those who've never really had much option before, and most keenly Rose is trying hard to test and make sure they can make ethical alternative solutions to even the trickiest of diets. For at least the first few days she'll be on hand nearly 24/7 taking notes, looking cute in a hat and overalls (less like a CEO and more like a CEO's outta-county niece on holiday) and trying very hard to solicit information on what they can do to make things even better and ensure highest quality and sourcing!

Did we mention emotions and electricity are engineered as closely as possible to match?

Every vampire is different, and some species of people thrive on love (of which not even a 7 billion population could fully feed!!!) and some on everything else. It might be a bit strange to get a pipe tube looking like a flavor of pixie stix (candy) but each one contains absorbed emotional material that they have various means to transfer.

It also goes great as sauce on a synthetic human burger. For the record.

Or so Rose has been told. She wouldn't be able to ingest that herself.

And for all those who rely on olfactory senses, well.... they match up perfectly. Maybe "too" perfectly, but are you really going to complain that there's no dirty impurities in your food / tea? Come on now.

[Eliot isn't quite here to eat, but he's curious nonetheless. He's heard Rose talking about making blood-related snacks and he is interested in them, just... not very eager to try them. Just see that they're possible.

So that's about where he'll be: Staring down the synthetic bloods curiously. But too high-strung to try any.]

... She really did it, huh? I wonder if Ms Rip will enjoy these?

Hey, guess who got an invite? Well of course one of Rose's bffs got an invite, but guess who decided to come to the party dressed in her demon skin? Yes, Mirajane seems to have decided that if she's coming to a haunted eatery, what better way to do it than as a demon? Her demonic nature has always had a certain craving for things her human palate found rather distasteful... such as human?

Yup, that's right... Mirajane is at the bar enjoying a synthetic human burger drenched in despair sauce. There's something you don't see everyday. Her only question is whether or not Rose will recognize her like this, and if she does... what she might think of her for sating her own curiosity. For the record, it's the best tasting synthetic human she's had... not that she's had much in the way of synthetic human flesh.

Break Time

Can it really be called a "break" if he probably spends about 73% of his time not guiding anyone? Either way, the Cheshire Cat can be found perched on a table, sipping tea, and looking even more smug than usual (which is saying a lot). May have something to do with the poor guest he left screaming in the Haunted House not long ago.

[Now, there was no way in Hell Lydia was going to come here in her normal appearance, not when she had been saying she was an elf from day one. Thus she's deciding to deal with her drab and droll black cult robes to come out there as the ridiculous floating skeleton in a cloak nonsense that she truly is. Of course she's by herself and she's also, for security reasons, used a little magic to change her voice to not sound similar to her normal manner.

Anyone familiar with the bullshit she's done in the past might recognize her as that anonymous skeleton, but for now she's just taking a seat nearby and deciding she may as well try a tea that supposedly mimics suffering. It's a nice try, anyway, even if she has no intentions on using this for a long term basis.

So, she may be sampling all sorts of blood related treats. Especially those with specific flavors such as fear.. or even love lust just to see how close to the real thing they were. And maybe a few of the fruit flavored ones... just because.

Needless to say, Rip was having a field day tasting things.]

[As he is at most parties, Graverobber's main interest is the food. He dug the haunted house -- anything spooky is his aesthetic, props to the creepy design folks -- but he's a creature who grabs food whenever it's available for free, and today is no exception. He peruses the offerings and is surprised by the variety (mammoth?) and picks at what looks interesting.

He winds up mostly keeping it safe and picking up synthetic beef and chicken, though he does admittedly pick up a panda burger because he can't not try it.]

[Admittedly, none of these synthetic flavors were necessary for Uai. He doesn't really need to eat either, actually, nor does he typically indulge. But he does enjoy indulging in things like learning and the sciences, so here he is!

He's stopping to peer at everything. From the wooly mammoth to panda cakes, even stopping to too at the synthetic bloods and human burgers. Uai's morals may draw lines regarding his sampling anything, but he's curious. If he sees anyone taste anything, he chirps (yes, like a bird,) and watches them.]

Torchwood Meet & Greet

Rose promised Satou could come meet her staff: an eclectic mix where you couldn't always tell the humans from non-humans, and who were by and large the epitome of Everglade's diversity. That will also include a small lunch at the restaurant so Satou can get used to even MORE species in their natural NORMAL states of existence. Hopefully.

Likewise with Matthew Murdoch handling all the legalese, Rose's biggest worries are relaxed, though she still wants to make sure he's really as at ease with the unusual Torchwood atmosphere as he seems.

For the Haunted House: ALL HANDS ON DECK. Rose has NO IDEA how much damage they might face scaring people who usually don't just startle, but like her, fight back, but unlike her might have superpowers, and then there's the restaurant, and WHEW. Look fingers crossed, right? Everything will go smoothly and then it can become "routine." In as much as either concept will ever be, and Torchwood itself ever has a "routine" anything.

So say hi. Introduce yourself. Get to know the neighbours. And stuff.

Oh, and there's a present by 11's office. Yes, it's a bouncy castle. Happy Un-Birthday.

Do not make her have to put it under lock and key please, because she will as needed.

Matt was used to being that guy in the room that both stood out and blended in. He stood by the front door of the Haunted House senses on full alert for trouble his cane nearby if he needed it. The first few days at Torchwood had been a bit overwhelming so many new scents and heartbeats to get used to. Hell Harkness had made his head spin.

But the work was interesting and Matt had seen enough weird stuff that he was doing better than could be expected.

Part-time suited Trunks best for now, and he appreciated Rose and Jack Harkness allowing him to do have that flexibility. He's looking forward to meeting others though, and has heard enough about the Everglades to be wary.

On guard and wary, but not hostile at all. He's also being very picky about what he eats if only because having a heightened sense of smell and a restaurant designed for non-humans means he's being careful. So water it is for now, and watching and waiting.

Really, had the Haunted House been a good idea? Not that he'd been consulted, but he could at least be on hand to help with trouble. Trunks was good at that. Sword slugn over his shoulder, water-glass in hand, watching and learning about his new coworkers.

"Ahhhhh," Rose groaned, leaning both arms on the wall and cradling her head in them. "I still gotta get the ads up..."

She wanted to fall over. "That's it, I'm dead on my feet. Put me in the House, I'll be part of the decor!" she mimed being a hanging zombie almost in the T-Pose (video game reference pose) and like the Death Standing ghost-zombies. She's a time traveler, it came out already for her.

Also, you know it's severe when Rose Tyler confesses to any form of exhaustion. Rose, I-Can-Totally-Keep-Up-With-A-Two-Hearted-Alien-Who-Doesn't-Usually-Sleep, and Rose "I walk through time immortal" Bad Wolf Tyler, not one to typically even get tired. It'd been a helluva month.

Torchwood Meet & Greet

Thatch is just hanging around, or rather looming around as he tries to find a place to fit his broad frame. As long as things seem to be going fine, he'll remain there, looking convivial and approachable, but is ready to break up anything should it happen-- which is a shame really because it's been a while since he's been to a good bust up but that was the working man's life, for you. Marco had better appreciate it.

Rose doesn't say anything, just grabs a seat in Ten's lap, gently moves his hands around so she can get comfortable and continues carrying on with her paperwork. "I'm not in the way, am I?"

It was weird for him to be working normal-hours, working a semi-ALMOST-normal job, and Rose was completely unaware of how Ten had actually worked as a scientist for UNIT before, so she figured it had to be even weirder for him than it might actually be.

Still, she knew he was still a bit messed up from coming back dead, and whatever he lost this time, so she figured keeping him company was for the rest.

In his office - there's a very complex chemistry lab sets - there are four long metal desks with different types of tubes stung together and also not. There's also a cryogenic freeze on the floor between two of the desk sets; basically, from an overview view - it's a square; with a metal rolling table; which is the only way in or out the square and in the center of this square is a madman on a spinny chair; who is pushing himself around the square as needed.

Also in a corner of the room is the Tardis - which is slightly ajar because all the power cables are hooked up to her.

After all, some things are hot and some things are very cold.

But here she was, a drifting presence settling around Ten's mind, depriving him of his psychic abilities as a pair of tiny arms (and tentacles) wrapped around his arm. Moments later a very happy face began nuzzling his shoulder.
