GENESSIA COMMONSPACE
[ The groggy haze hasn't yet exactly worn off this demon hunter here and Nero finds himself crashed on the bed he has in this (temporary) room of his. Arm draped across his eyes, he's about five seconds away from conking out where he hopes when he wakes this will all be a bad dream, when the sound of WHATEVER THAT IS keeps him from doing so. With a scowl, he throws himself off the bed, yanks open the door (and nearly off its hinges oops) and- ]

Hey! You wanna keep it down?!

[ He'll just yell that down the hall to whoever or whatever that is. ]

GENESSIA CITY
[ Moving down the streets with a scowl on his face (not like he ever wears another expression) is a white-haired, sword strapped to his back with a glowing blue arm guy. He's heard the spiel about this place, is annoyed with this whole kidnapped by spirits shtick going on here, and can't remember the last time he actually ate something so that's where he's headed. Or hopes he is.

The first food place he finds, he drops some of those red bills down and asks what he can get with some of this and, as he waits for his food to be brought to him, if you're staring, he's gonna feel that... even address you without looking over. ]

Take a picture, it'll last longer.

[ That, or, he's going to be sitting there at whatever table is available, head in his hands and clearly just DONE with this place already. ]

[ Did you just slap down some money in front of Sora? Because this is not how shopping usually works! He softly giggles and lifts his hands up to deny the cash just before the quick retort sounds from the silver-haired stranger. Wah? Sora looks over to some of the other shoppers who were gawking at the customer and he waves at them with a small pout.

Once they've seem to move along, Sora looks back to the silver-haired man and offers some helpful hints! ]

So, you have to get the groceries first! And theeeeen you buy them! But you don't pay me! I'm just a bagger, you got to go to the check out line! Don't you worry, though, I'm going to help you along! Come on, I'll help you shop... come on!

[ Look. It's his first day, he's hungry, tired, in some strange world, and not in the mood for grocery shopping of all things when he's clearly on limited funds here, so Sora will just get a look from Nero as he's told to come along and... shop. ]

Yeah, can't I just get something to go? Kinda not in the mood for shopping.

[ Sora thought about it and he gave the other a nod. ]

Okay, I have a few questions! Are you new, like new to this world? Do you like spicy food or plain food?!

[ He bounced on the heels of his feet and peered up at the other with a hopeful depth to his eyes. He could totally help this guy out, he was already making a list of what to pick up as soon as he got his answers. ]

[ What sort of a leap between two topics?? Nero just stares to this kid, glancing off a moment later because lord, does he not have time for these sorts of games. ]

Yeah, unfortunately.

[ Being new, he means. ]

I guess as long as it doesn't burn my mouth I don't really care.

[ A beat. ]

Why?

[ How do either of those have anything to do with each other? ]

Great! I’ll be right back, you find yourself a seat! Uh, hmm… HERE!

[ Sora shoves the red bills back over to the other, he’s going to do his good deed for the day! The fifteen-year old then takes off and rushes through the grocery store, he picks up a cart on the way and he starts to hit the aisles quickly dumping things into the cart. He’s done this before and his list has gotten better each time he’s run through the store.

It was about fifteen minutes before he came back to the other with a cart full of packaged bags full of items. Things like bandaids to jello cups, packaged food to fresh produce; just enough for about a week. ]

You’re all set! Now you can take this stuff home and be sure to come back to Pan’s Grocer’s for all your daily needs!

[ He laughs and shakes his head before he gestures to the cart. ] But, seriously, this stuff would have helped me out a lot when I first got here! Did you know… I spent ALL my money on food before I realized I needed to have a job for more of that money?

[ Before he can even say anything, the kid is off and Nero is left there with eyes blinking in confusion because... what? Seriously, who has time for this when their stomach is growling and they're still tired from this supposed slumber they've been in for who knows how long? He's honestly about to leave when he catches sight of the kid hurrying his way back... and he stares in complete and utter confusion because, again, what? ]

Wait... what?

[ Is this... did he... ]

You mean you paid for these for me?

[ Who does that?? ]

[ Sora looks into the cart and cocks his head, he blinks and it’s probably pretty obvious he’s evaluating the items he’s picked up. Hopefully he didn’t forget anything. ]

Hmm, well, yeah!

[ He looks up to the other and folds his arms. ]

You better keep as much money as you can until you can find a job! It was really difficult to … to be so hungry! [ He can remember it like it was yesterday.. he was so hungry.. oh, wait.. he was hungry yesterday! But.. this was a different sort of pathetic hunger! When he first got here and he spent all his money he was the kind of hungry that hurt because he couldn’t afford anymore food! ]

[ Nero still stares a little dumbfounded with this because... he's never had someone do anything like this for him before? Not a total stranger at least. So he stands there, still staring down to the various things this kid has bought before he reaches into his pocket and pulls out those red bills. ]

Let me pay you then. No sense in you losing money on account of me.

Eeeeh!

[ Sora turns away as if he was avoiding some sort of lava blast from the other. ]

That wasn’t the point! The point is to help you! [ He relaxes and puts his hands on his hips before he gives the other a firm nod. ] Now you can go buy a meal somewhere if you want and not worry about … not having food for later!

You're seriously going to just buy me food like this when you don't even know a thing about me?

[ This is not anything he can say he's had experience with and so it's why Nero isn't so sure how to react or even what to think because... people just don't do this sort of thing? ]

I know you’re hungry…

[ Sora frowns, he lowers his hands to his sides and he looks at the other with some feeling of insecurity. Had he messed up somewhere? Usually people were alright with this sort of thing—

I mean, they were like “oh no, no, okay thanks..” and then they went on their way and then came back to shop here! It was a nice gesture was all, really… everyone needs a helping hand when starting out here.. Everyone. ]

And I know you’re new… and.. you could use a friendly gesture..

[ Nero is just... not accustomed to this sort of random act of kindness bestowed upon him. From Kyrie, sure. But from a stranger? That's just... not what happens with him, so it's a little strange and he has no idea how to react to it. But when the kid frowns and lowers his hands, Nero begins to feel a little bad and awkward and lifts his glowing blue hand up to rub at the back of his neck. Geez. ]

Uh, thanks... then.

[ Yeah. ]

[ There it is! The golden word that made everything all right again! Sora perks up and his face glows with a bright smile to his lips. ]

You’re welcome! I .. I’m Sora! [ He adjusts the name tag on his apron. ] If you need anything … I’unno, whatever, you can always call me on that phone you got! Okay?

[ Sora, huh? Can't say he's ever heard someone with that name before. ]

Are you part of the neighborhood welcoming committee or something?

[ He asks that a touch dryly but perhaps also curiously if only because that might make a little more sense with all of, well, this. ]

We have one of those?

[ Dang it! That would totally be so cool to be a part of… why… why Sora might be able to have first dibs on everyone that first comes through that cave! He’ll be the first to greet his friends when they come! He’ll be able to make a great impression on those who… might need a great impression coming here! Not everyone, after all, is a world traveler like himself! ]

Oh… man… no! [ He’s disappoint. ]

[ Oh, that's... not the reaction he was expecting? Great. ]

I... it was a joke.

[ He thinks. Hell if he knows if that's actually a thing or not. ]

[ Sora’s mouth drops open and his eyes focus on the other. He then closes his mouth with a grin to his lips then a snort comes through his nose. ]

Man! That’s a pretty good idea though! We should make one of those! [ He chuckles lightly. ] Hnn~! Well! ... hehe!

[ At least he's not frowning and possibly upset anymore? That's good. Yeah... good. ]

I guess you could bring it up at the next city meeting or whatever.

[ A beat. ]

I don't know if they actually have those or not, for the record.

[ Not like he wants to disappoint him again or something. ]

Oh! You know who would know!!!??

[ Wait for it... wait for it... Sora bounces on his heels. ]

Dante! He's in charge of us, you know! He's ... "the big fish" but wait until I show him, tell you what! I'm the big shark in town! [ He laughs. He can't help but disclose the silly little conversations he has with Dante.. which was basically just this! ]

[ That name is not one he expected to hear from anyone here, let alone this kid and it has Nero staring to him in both confusion and surprise. ]

Wait... you know Dante?

Yeah, I think he's the mayor... or .. president, or king... or something.. I don't know. He said something about being elected. So he's in charge of us.. and he makes the rules. He's ... hum, he's I'unno where he's at... You know, I just had this conversation with him too! I said..

Dante.. seems kind'a strange I haven't seen you yet.. since you're the big fish.. supposedly! Oh! You know Dante?! He's your friend!? Woah! We better get a hold of him! [ Sora pulls out his phone, ready to utilize this sucker for maximum contact speed! ]

[ Everything seems to be happening so fast that Nero doesn't even have any time to process it and, before he knows it, he's reaching out with his glowing blue arm for Sora's wrist that hold his phone. ]

You don't need to do that!

[ He stares a little, suddenly feeling awkward. ]

It's better not to bother him if he's such a hot shot around here.

[ Sora gasps, he hadn’t expected the quick reaction to his suggestion, but he’s quick to smile and relax again. He also is quick to respond, rather honestly, about his experience with Dante. ]

So, I bother him all the time and he’s pretty nice about it! I’m sure he really wouldn’t mind.. Besides.. I mean, it’s nice to have someone here you know, it makes it a lot easier!

Yeah, sure, if you enjoy having to put up with his stupid jokes.

[ Or something, but really, it is good to know the other demon hunter is around... even if he gives him an aneurysm at times. ]

Surprised he hasn't told you to take a hike yet.

[ Sora snorts, he bounces on his heels again and folds his arms across his chest. ] Nah, he wouldn't do that to me.. we're friends! I'unno, he can be sometimes funny, for being an old man! You don't think so?

[ There's a thought that he might not think Sora was funny if he didn't think Dante was funny. That brought him a soft chuckle. ]
