[oh gosh it's another one of these sorts of posts. oh well, here goes!]

It's come to my attention that several people have been going through harsh times, and I think that distractions are in order! At least, something fun to take our minds off of things for a little bit.

[that whole hospital breaking apart before... that was terrible.]

So, I'm inviting anyone that wants to come with me to one of the pet stores in the local cities! [she crosses her arms, nodding in satisfaction.] Nothing is more satisfying than petting a bunny.

and she is well on her way to one of the cities, whether anyone comes with her or not. so feel free to run into her!]

Yes, Satori was interested in various pets. Yes, she felt lonely. But, sadly, she should've expected Koishi to pull her down here after mentioning either of those things together. "Please, slow down...do you have any idea how much strain such a public place takes on my mind?"

Satori, of course, was able to pick up the surface thoughts of everyone around her, as well, including the pets. Their simpler minds were calming, more of a background noise if anything. Many of them seemed rather lonely, she had to admit, as it reminded her of her own pets at home.

The elder sister tried to pull from her sister's iron grip only to bump against her as Koishi suddenly stopped, pointing out the young woman... "I'm very much aware of that, Koishi." She turned to watch Rukia, as did her third eye, focusing in on her surface thoughts an attempt discern a more exact sort of pet-related problem, as well as her preferences for such things.

Silently, she whispered to her playful little sister... "...If you'd like a pet, why don't you go look around for some interesting pets while I deal with this?" She paused a moment and said, rather seriously... "Please don't do anything too outlandish and ridiculous around these poor pets, they're already very distressed."

Once Koishi was (hopefully) settled, Satori addressed Rukia directly... "While I'm not familiar with this place, I'm rather good with animals. I'm sure at least one animal here would be glad to have a new home for itself, don't you agree?" That might serve as a good ice-breaker for conversing with someone who, according to observations, came here with a desire to be among cute animals.

"Ah....?"

Just give Rukia a moment here to try and process this. She had asked anyone if they would accompany her, and everyone was welcome, but the one shouting... she just had so much energy! The Shinigami cleared her throat, nodding before she spoke up.

"Yes... well... I'm not too sure we can take the animals out of the gateway, so I figured at least staying here and playing with them awhile would do!"

She glanced back and forth at the both of them, "but I'm to see people so excited about this!"

"No sis! You should come in with me." Her smile softened a little bit. "The animals will settle your mind. You're very stressed." Koishi looked up at Rukia, her grin returning in full force. "Miss! There are so many pets you could get! I bet you'll like them. Sis and I used to have so many pets back at home. But we're here now so we don't have any pets here."

She turned back toward Satori, addressing her once more. "I would never do anything too crazy with the pets in here. I'm just happy you're out here with me! It's going to be so much fun!" It was the truth, no matter how excited she was. Already her soothing aura was rippling the air around her.

She finally let go of her sister, the tentacle that had gripped her arm retracting back up into her sleeve. Koishi clapped her hands together before rushing over to the window turning back toward Satori after a moment. The heart over her shoulder twisted once, becoming more defined. "Puppies! Look how many puppies there are! There are all different kinds too!" She pressed her face and third eye against the glass, her hat getting pushed up and back and falling to the ground. The puppies reacted in kind, clustering around the excited youkai, repeatedly licking the glass.

And they hadn't even gone inside yet...

Satori noticed the veritable pile of puppies. She was more of a cat person, to be honest, but she loved all animals, despite her dislike of virtually everything else. Sure, cats and dogs would make a mess. Even some of the larger ones, like panthers and wolves. But at least they were grateful the care they received. "Their thoughts all seem so delightful...at least that's a small blessing. They have such simple minds, and all they feel right now is happiness. If only people could be so focused." She actually managed a faint smile to Koishi and Rukia...

"With humans and other such beings, it takes quite a lot to make them truly appreciate you. But humans can take care of themselves. Pets, of course, can't...that's why a pet appreciates a like-minded owner." She stepped closer to the puppies and put her hand against the glass, her third eye gazing down in what seemed to be affection. "They seem to like you, Koishi. And they're just like you, so full of energy and life." She reached over to pat her enthusiastic sister on the shoulder and gave her a slightly warmer smile. "That, and they tend to wander all over the place, the poor little things..." She couldn't help finding them utterly adorable, but that only made her feel sorry for her pets a little more. She'd have to divide her attention even more than she already did, and it secretly broke her heart make any of them feel left out.

These two are.... rather odd, is what Rukia had been thinking. Then again, she knew someone like Mayuri, a captain who had experimented on his own body so much that he was barely recognizable most days.

Either way, the shinigami allowed them to have their fun, looking at the puppies, but Rukia had other plans in mind here. She walked over to where the bunnies were, and glanced down at them.

"Ah...." yes, this is what she came here for!! Their cuteness knew no equal!

Koishi only paused a moment longer before turning and running inside the pet shop herself. She was giddy, eyes alight as she scanned over the various cages, stopping for a moment to look at a frog stuck to the glass before continuing along. She stopped just short of the bunnies at a large glass enclosure, floating up and leaning into it, staring at a chinchilla.

"Hello there! You're really nervous. Don't be nervous." Little calming waves of power rippled from her, washing over the entire shop as she reached in, scooping up the little animal and gently cradling it to her chest and stroking it gently.

"Sis! This one is so soft and fluffy." She was making an effort at least not to shout. "Come see! There are bunnies over here too. They're really cute."

Satori followed closely behind Koishi, making sure that she didn't get into any trouble on the way inside. Absentmindedly, Satori found herself drawn to pet the little chinchilla in Koishi's arms, giving a faint, little smile for once, her third eye focusing on all these soothing animal minds.

Approaching the cute rabbits, her smile grew a little warmer... "I'm rather fond of the smaller beasts, too. Most of them need quite a bit of care, but it's rather easy to pay attention to them..." She gently urged Koishi to be careful with the small animal in her arms and stood nearby the rabbits, taking in their simple thoughts... "...I think there must be some animal here that would be happy to come along with us. What do you think, Koishi?"

Oh, these two seemed to be having enough fun on their own. Well that was good, Rukia thought, that they were enjoying themselves. This is what she came out here for in the first place anyway, to make sure others were having fun instead of dreading about the past.

So Rukia was just over at the bunnies, looking at them and going to hold them.

"I bet there are lots of animals that would be happy to come along with us. If we're lucky maybe some of them will grow into youkai like Rin and Okuu. That would be really great." She leaned forward to nuzzle the chinchilla gently. It was so calm in the little satori's arms.

She walked up next to Rukia, floating up into the air so she could peek unnecessarily over the taller woman's shoulder. "The bunnies are cute huh?" She was still all smiles. "You should get that cream colored one with the floppy ears and shiny eyes. She's very curious and happy. I bet she would like to curl up on a lap and go to sleep."

Satori was not far behind Koishi, watching her sister in case she did anything out of the ordinary. The elder sister added... "Well, I should hope so. Although, I'm not sure if animals from a place like this could become youkai at all." She felt a very powerful urge to prove this hypothesis by buying an animal, but she wasn't quite sure of it.

"My sister gets very excitable around animals, but she has valuable insight." Satori added to Rukia with a tilting movement of her third eye. On the inside, Satori was a little excited as well, but she had to quickly turn her attention back to Koishi.

Paradoxically, in her case, It was hard NOT to pay attention, the way Koishi got all over the place. "We certainly have thousands of rabbits about. Much the same for cats and dogs...but I'm hoping to find a few that legitimately like us."
