PLAYER PLOT: Boogeymen, Nightmares, Monsters, Oh A LOG?

BOOGEYMEN AND NIGHTMARES ( OPTIONAL LOG )

WHAT?

For the past few weeks, there have been odd rumors circulating through the cities. Rumors of monsters, the likes of which are so terrifying that the stories remain hushed whispers. And now, starting on MARCH 11THand lasting until MARCH 17TH, those monsters are a reality. Only in Everglade and Fayren, thankfully. Horrifying monsters will be prowling these cities during that time, and they seem to target pendent bearers exclusively... Scarier yet, they reflect the personal nightmares of the people that they're stalking! Read more at [ THIS OOC POST. ]

 

This Log And Event Are OPTIONAL

You are not obligated to participate in the Log or the Event. If you want to make your own event related entries, please go ahead. You may continue to use the OOC post for event plotting and related questions.

You may use the event log to make top-levels for your characters and their specific nightmares, or choose to engage with two "Generic" monsters. The generic monsters are created by rumors circling around the city. If your character has no specific fears to prey upon, then you may instead use these monsters for fights and frights. Or use all monsters for maximum frights and fights.

[A] Everglade's Generic Boogeyman
Thanks to the power of rumors and gossip, two of Memo's generic Boogeymen have come to life! The monster that prowls the streets of Everglade is a large, skinny creature that resembles a stickbug, with human head(s.) The details of the human face may change depending on what characters expect, but it is always very tall and always snatching people into lonely alleyways. It only goes for pendent bearers, and once it has you in the darkness, it begins wrapping you up in web like a spider. It also wants your wallets and steals shoes.

Because this creature is created from collective gossip, it's stronger than most of the other Nightmares. It's details can be adjusted so that characters (and their muns,) fill in the gaps of that vague description. You can't be wrong!
 

[B] Fayren's Generic Boogeyman
Rumors and gossip also allowed Memo to create a second Boogeyman, this time in Fayren. The creature lurking in Fayren is a bit different, as it can only be found in the forests of Fayren. That's because it's significantly larger and hard to miss: It is a large, golden dragon that breathes fire, and sometimes uses other elements as well. Curiously, those the fire and attacks can hurt horribly, they don't cause any lasting damage. It doesn't even knock down trees. But if it catches sight of a pendent bearer, it will chase them all of the way to the city's edge. It also tries to grab them, fling them around, and make change fall out of their pockets. Weird.

Make-up your own nightmares! They should be created based on your characters' personal fears and experiences. Remember the Golden Rules: No killing, no massive maiming, no involving NPCs. Other than that, have fun tormenting your characters!

[Won't these things just leave them alone? This is getting ridiculous. He pushes the card away with all of his strength and turns to address Alice in the time he's bought them.]

I can get us away from here but you can't ask questions or tell anyone what you see.

[Alice had a hand to her throat, the bruising from the card already visible but at least the physical damage was minor.

She didn't understand but talking or asking wasn't really an issue as just swallowing hurt. She nodded, not sure what he would do but pointing behind him as Diamonds lifted the ax once more.]

[He lets out a short, sharp breath. Okay. Here goes. Before Diamonds can reach them again, he scoops her up and then they're in transit, traveling somehow, faster than most can even imagine, above the ground. There's only the barest hint of the flutter of wings, and then after only a few seconds, they're standing on the ground again by the archway out of Fayren, in a secluded spot. There's no one else around at the moment, because he'd purposely chosen a spot where he wouldn't be seen by anyone.]

Go. They're only here and in Everglade. You'll be safe now.

[He'd have taken them farther but he's never tried to fly through an archway before.]

[Lucifer may not be terribly used to children, especially children who went through harrowing adventures and nearly got executed. Finally out of danger, Alice began to sob openly, even if it hurt her throat to do so. She had every right to cry, of course, she had been chased down for several hours and only just got away.

So there she is, clinging to Lucifer and sobbing openly.]

[Oh. Oh dear. Well now what does he do? He's not used to children, or hugs, or hugs from small children, and isn't the best at knowing what's appropriate in a particular situation, anyway.]

Do you have parents who could come and fetch you?

[Maybe they'll know how to get the crying to stop.]

[We can't all be heavenly angels cast out who have been around since before the dawn of time, Lucifer. Sometimes things are scary, especially when you are tiny and powerless.

She gives a small nod, though.]

[He pulls out his phone and scrolls through the list of local residents until he finds someone with one of those names.]

Regina Mills?

[Once he gets confirmation, he sends a quick, if confusing, message to this Regina.]

Your offspring is in Fayren. Something seems to have upset her, if you would like to come and collect her.

[He sticks it back in his pocket and addresses Alice again.]

She should be here soon.
