So much for resolving our differences between the DWMA and witches.

[ Here is a snowy-haired kid with red eyes, jagged teeth and a nearly permanent slouch. It's different than how he first woke up wrapped in something that seems uncomfortably close to Arachne's style -- a freaking cocoon, even if it was made of metal and silk but the fact he may have got tangled up in there might have contributed to that assumption -- but after a few minutes of freaking out off screen, he'd taken stock of his situation, gone over all the reading material... and decided it was all too weird to take at face value. Clearly, some witch didn't get the memo and was still probably fighting the good fight in the name of that dead Arachne lady. That's so lame. ]

What's your deal, Warlock Dresden guy?

[ Soul lifts Harry Dresden's magazine for newcomers and waves it lazily, wrongly assuming he'd been jumped by said wizard who oh so helpfully introduced himself simply because it was an easier way to explain his blackout than to take the reading material at face value. Reading material that, as far as he knows, came from a dubious source -- witches. ]

Don't you know Arachnophobia is old news? We're supposed to be allies or whatever, so lets just cut the crap and get me back to the Academy already.

[Catching this video's just one of those things that requires rubbing one's eyes and/or pinching one's own arm, just to make doubly certain this isn't the imagination going a little haywire.

[ As if he even knows where he is -- and no, he's not looking at the map. Why bother? Not like they're sticking around this dump... right? ]

[It takes a little while. Not nearly as long as walking, but one of the benefits of being the new Lord Death seems to be the option of sprouting a pair of little skull-shaped jets above your shoulders whenever you feel like getting somewhere quickly.

He's still opting to float above the ground when the young reaper descends at the entrance to the cave.]

[Kid's typically sober expression is marred a moment by a thin grimace as his gaze travels down, to the ankle-deep water that occupies the floor of the cave.

A tossing gesture of one hand sparks the emergence of black tendrils from his open palm. Beelzebub appears, that skateboard of which he's so fond.]

If you don't know how to ride this, just hold on. I won't abide you getting water stains on the floor.

[Wait what floor]

I'll explain on the way.

[ Soul follows Kid's tawny gaze downwards with a confused expression. Oh right. He's heard of your dislike of standing in water, Kid. ]

Y-yeah.

[ He climbs on, trying to take care to clasp his hands as evenly as possible on Kid's shoulders. Don't mind if he drips water all over your fancy pants ~~dubiously named~~ skateboard. ]

You wanna fill me in on what's going on?

[ More importantly: ]

Where's everyone else? Where's Maka?

[It's less standing in water and the horror of having only part of him be wet and miserable while the rest remains dry. Sheer terror, Soul. You couldn't possibly understand!

He exhales through his nose but nods in apparent approval, the skull-like jets migrating a little further out so as not to catch Soul in the afterburn as he sets off.]

[The best part of this is the bird's eye view of the city as they rise out of the Bay; don't mind Kid if he admires the beautiful, grid-like city planning.]

Since it seems you've forgotten since your last visit, this is Genessia City. Unfortunately, much of what we know is in that pamphlet you found, and its writer is no longer among the real residents here.

You found a necklace, I assume. That will aid you in passing through the gates into other regions available to us, each with their own individual dangers and resources.

[ You know, you could always ask and Soul would be more than happy to help get the rest of you soaked. Because ~~who would pass up that golden opportunity~~ that's what bros are for right? The thought brings a grin inappropriately to Soul's face considering the situation, but since when have they failed to crack a joke at any situation -- no matter how grim? The grin fades quickly, however, when Kid sets off and leaves Soul in the dust. Water spray. Whatever. ]

Hey! [ OKAY HE CAN DO THIS. With... some wobbling, but he gains his balance eventually and thankfully Kid's admiring the admittedly impressive view enough to give him some time to catch up with him. ] Huh? You mean this thing? [ He shoves a hand into his pocket and brings out the glittering accessory. But that can wait -- something else Kid says derails that train of thought. ]

What d'ya mean my last visit?

[The medallion certainly is a garish and ornate accessory! Kid glances at it out of the corner of his eye and answers:]

You were here before, but when we hadn't heard or seen you in some time, we thought perhaps...

[He doesn't pursue that train of thought further, shaking his head.]

But here you are, as if nothing had happened before. It does give one pause to wonder if this is an occurrence common to all of us, and we simply don't recall our potentially numerous visits.

The thought alone makes my head hurt.

I fail to see how a fear of spiders could be "old news" or how you can ally yourself with an abstract concept like that.

As for the pamphlet, it's all true. We've all arrived here in a similar fashion.

Nah, man -- [ Whoever you are. ]

Arachne was some witch with this large following. This seemed like something more her style at first but -- [ Considering what he knows now... ]

I guess this really isn't what I expected after all. How long have you been here?

[ Garish doesn't even begin to describe it. ]

[ It's hard to swallow, although if there's anyone he'd believe, it'd be Maka or Lord Death. ]

...So if I've been here already, how come I don't remember it? Hasn't anyone else gone through the same thing before?

[Hmm, Satsuki had been looking for ways to combat magical forces, and if this person had experience with Witches...]

What sort of witch, and how much experience do you have with magic in general?

[ Soul blinks, his red eyes not really understanding the question. ]

Any kind of magic. Satsuki-sama has been curious about how to deal with magical threats, and I have been exploring possible leads in that regard.

[He pauses, glaring at the screen in response to the swear.]

Deathscythe blinks at the screen a few times before sighing.]

[He seems intent on progressing down into the city, without elaborating whatsoever.]

It's fortunate that you returned in a way, it hasn't been quite the same without you.

[More like Maka's not the same without her Weapon. Like he isn't, without his Weapons. At least one of this pair of Meisters can stop feeling so hobbled and useless!]

Warlock Dresden? [She pauses to see what he was on about and recognised the thing he was waving.]

Ah, I don't think the person who made that can answer you. As far as I'm aware they aren't here.

[He pauses slightly.]

I didn't think one could be allies with something that is considered a phobia of spiders.
