(All items served with a choice of garden salad or spicy cucumber salad.)
(Wines will be substituted for those underaged or upon request with a choice of water or white grape juice.)

1. Hazelnut Chocolate Star Cups - Design ref. A dark chocolate balloon cup coated with finely chopped hazelnuts so that look like stars in the night sky. Inside, it's filled with a layer of nutella mousse and topped with a fudge frosting and a piped tempered white chocolate star.
2. Coconut Pannacotta and Pineapple Stars. Design ref. A creamy yet light pannacotta dish with star-cut pineapples with caramelized edges, covered with a thin and crunchy spun sugar display.
3. Tiramisu Glasses - Design ref. Tall glasses filled with a marscapone whipped cream, a layer of coffee-soaked lady fingers, and topped with puff pastry stars and berries.
(Dessert is served with a choice of a 6oz coffee, tea of choice, or hot cocoa.)

You'd think Mavis would give him basic table and dinner etiquette before inviting him to a shindig like this. Shame on her. Still at least he didn't end up stabbing himself or sending his food flying across the table or something.

Lucy glanced towards him curiously when he made a hasty escape from the table. It could be her imagination, but ...nah. However, where he was hiding out was on the way towards the ladies room, and she was going to need to use it. If he was still lurking by the napkins when she came back out, she'd let herself be curious enough to talk to him~!

She'd probably have something to say about it when he got back. Using a fork and a knife wasn't something he had an opportunity to do much of while he was on Tenroujima (or before that, for that matter), much like sleeping in a bed, using showers instead of bathing in a lake or river, or using a stove to cook instead of a campfire. But, well, he had to re-learn somehow. And she could help with that.

It wasn't that Zeref spent that long at the napkins; it's that it took that long to get there. The place was a zoo, with waiters and waitresses having to wait on all of these people, and so many people getting up and sitting back down, and him having to navigate the seemingly endless sea of people, all while nervously wondering if his Curse would suddenly kill everybody in the room. By the time he actually reached the napkins - inconveniently placed at the opposite end of the large banquet hall from where he and Mavis were seated - Lucy could very well walk right passed him.

He really should have just asked a waiter to bring him the napkins.

He should have, but he didn't, and now he's in Lucy's sights! She could put off her potty break for a second or two and not be forced to go into potty dance mode. "Quite a gathering, isn't it?" she asked, greeting the other.

Even over the somewhat loud din of the gala's patrons, Zeref would have recognized that voice anywhere. He'd known Lucy quite well before she left, after all; he'd even known her as far back as Genessia. Zeref turned to face her, at first unsure how to respond; if the conflict with Tartaros was as bloody as Wendy had said it was before she left (and came back), this was going to be a very awkward conversation, once Lucy inevitably found out who he was.

"It is," Zeref replied. "Weiss might just be leading the first real effort to find out how we were brought here." He glanced in Natsu and Mavis' directions; neither of them were easy to see in the fairly sizable crowd. "You don't remember being here before, do you, Lucy?"

The 'and therefore don't remember me' goes unasked. He doesn't remember meeting her in his own world. And if she met him after the fight with Tartaros, he doubts she would be so friendly with him. No, Occam's Razor suggests she went home, forgot about this world and him, and by some inexplicable mangaka shenanigans, still hasn't met the primary antagonist of her series despite being a main protagonist, and depending on whom you ask, the main protagonist.

Lucy quirked an eyebrow at first, and then sighed softly. She shouldn't be surprised there was another person who apparently knew her the last time she was here. Though the title of main protag would be shared by Natsu, since he was with her 95% of the time. Frankly it was kind of creepy that all these people apparently knew her, and yet she didn't know them. "No, I don't, so I'm afraid you have me at a disadvantage." She smiled awkwardly. "Who are you?"

Zeref wasn't surprised by that reaction. It confirmed his suspicions, though; she didn't remember him, and she still hasn't met him in their world. Otherwise, this mostly-friendly reaction might not be happening. }

Mavis hasn't mentioned me? { That also didn't surprise him. Fairy Tail knowing their First Master had such a connection to the Black Wizard might cause a bit of drama, and that wasn't even getting into Fairy Tail's other founders. } She's an... Old friend of mine. We knew each other before Fairy Tail was ever founded. I was more than happy to be her date, tonight.

{ That... Still doesn't answer her question, Zeref. }

It doesn't, and people who don't introduce themselves are kinda shady as far as she was concerned. Her hands came to rest on her hips at mention of Mavis. So did that mean... ]

So you're from Earthland, like that girl, Zeira? She claimed to have known Mavis as well. But I wouldn't know if Mavis hasn't mentioned you when you haven't told me your name.

[ SPILL IT, ZEREF. She's waiting! ]

{ Somehow he knew Lucy was too smart not to demand he be more specific. He'd learned a long time ago that she was not to be underestimated. The fact that she's clearly only grown in power since then just reiterated that to him. }

I am, yes. I'm not a part of any guild, if that's what you are wondering. { A sigh. } I still don't entirely remember Zeira, myself. I guess she just didn't stand out, like Fairy Tail's other founders. It was over a century ago, perhaps she slipped my mind.

[ Lucy had planted her feet, arms crossed with the expression of one that said she wasn't going to let him budge without giving an answer. ... but she didn't expect the answer she got. Her expression immediately changed from cautious, to shocked. ]

Zeref?

[ And Mavis was friends with him WHY? Didn't she know he was the source (indirectly) of half their problems? Nevermind he may as well have declared war against Fairy Tail with his wanting to wipe out humanity and allying with demons of all things and stuff. Not to mention other things. ]

{ The reaction didn't surprise him. Way back in Exsilium, her reaction was pretty much the same as it is now. He saw it coming, not least of which because all indications were that the war with Tartaros was extremely costly, and not just for them. He still didn't know exactly how it ended, but he had a feeling that Fairy Tail had a pretty good reason to be angry at him.

Perhaps he was due for a trip to the Dream Docks. }

{ He frowns, glancing back towards Mavis and Natsu. He still can't get a good view of either of them in the large crowd of people. }

[ She's tempted to walk away from him in disgust. Either he was the real deal, or thought it'd be funny to impersonate the dark wizard. Why ANYONE would pretend to be him, she'd no idea. ]

And you came here with Master Mavis...

[ Why would she ever be friends with him? Well one thing was for certain - she would definitely be telling Natsu about this encounter. ]

{ He'd like to ask a similar question to Ultear. Or at least, he would, if he ever found out that her attempting to abduct him from Tenroujima was only the tip of the iceberg.

Zeref sighed. }

Before Fairy Tail's founding, I met Mavis in the woods just outside of Magnolia. She was very kind, and her intelligence impressed me. She actually knew what my Curse was, by name. { Zeref paused. Just how much should he share? How much was his place to tell, and what should be left to Mavis herself to tell, if she so chose? Fairy Tail had a pretty good reason to cover up that particular part of their guild's history, after all. } She is one of the only people in Earth-Land that I can honestly say that I trust. And not only because she is one of the only people I know of who is powerful enough to create a barrier that can contain my Curse, if I lose control.

[ Lucy's still trying to reconcile the -WHY WOULD YOU- part of this friendship. But that's something she'd have to hear from the First. ]

I see. [ She said uneasily. ]

If that's the case, shouldn't you be over by Master Mavis then? [ And not...over by the napkins...? ]

Yes... I suppose I should.

{ Zeref grabs his napkins, taking the small stack in both hands. He has a feeling he knows why Lucy isn't so thrilled to see him; if it was after the war with Tartaros, they had every reason to be wary of him. The cat was out of the bag when it came to them knowing Tartaros were made up almost entirely of his demons. Even if he, himself had little to do with their actions (he didn't order them to do anything), that still made him responsible. Before leaving, he turned back to Lucy. }

I just want you to know that I have no problem with Fairy Tail as a whole. Tartaros merely acted on their instincts to obey my wishes. I wanted E.N.D. resurrected. I never told them how to go about doing that, much less to attack Fairy Tail.

{ He had to say, though, Face? That was clever. Bold, but clever. ... and possibly very stupid, if they caught wind that the last of the Council's toys were out of commission. }

As for the other dark guilds, the ones that worship me, kill others in my name... they should just be thankful you found them before I did.

{ And with that, Zeref turned away, and began heading back into the crowd. Lucy still had a chance to interrupt him, if she so desired; it was a big, slow-moving mass of waiters, waitresses, and people getting up or down. }

[ At least she managed to remain civil. All bets would be off if she ever found out that you (future you) threatened to bring Natsu -more- suffering. She wasn't going to stop him from heading back to Mavis, though she watched him the entire way with a slight frown. Once he was back at Mavis' side, she shook her head, quickly hurrying back through the crowd to get to Natsu again. This was definitely soemthing she was going to have to bring up to him - but not now. ]
