I come from a world where there aren't exactly any non-humans, so sorry if this has been asked a million times, but:

How many non-humans are there here? What kinds of non-humans? Is this really common in most peoples' worlds? Do any of you have to like.. hide? What and how do you eat?

[ No, any more specific than that it'll seem questionable. She just needs information though. And maybe to not feel quite so alone sitting in a morgue with not enough bodies in it to make her feel comfortable that she's going to be okay the whole time. ]

Back home, not here. It doesn't seem like there's much need to hide that sort of thing here, if the vampire running for office means anything.

There was some fumbling before the video flicked on, showing a girl with light green hair and green eyes that seemed to glow from within. A very organic looking blue sphere was hovering juts barely in frame. It looked like an eye.

Actually, she looked a lot like that Satori Komeiji that was running for election in Fayren...

"Hello Miss! I'm Koishi Komeiji. I'm not human either!" That much was clear. And if te last name meant anything, she was related to Satori. "Where I come from all the non humans live in little pocket worlds away from the normal humans. Because the world doesn't have a place for us anymore."

"Sis and I are satori youkai. Most youkai either feed on immaterial things or are carnivorous or can just eat anything. We can eat anything! We live underground with the other youkai that other youkai don't really like."

[ That was.. weird. Liv didn't find something being stranger than herself the case very often, but a weird blue glowy eye? That was odd. ]

It seems like there are a lot of non-humans here. This may sound like a weird question because the way you said it I feel like it's expected I know what that is, but if you could fill me in on what a satori youkai is that would be great.

"Nooo. It's okay. A lot of people don't know what satori youkai are. A youkai is a demon-monster-spirit-thing... there really isn't a good word for it in this language. A 'satori' is an enlightened youkai or a youkai of consciousness. We're mind readers except I got rid of my power so I can't read minds anymore. So you don't have to be scared of me, okay?"

[ Liv's more convinced that if she could read her mind, Koishi is the one who would be scared. Liv is a good person, but having to eat the brains of your own species and deal with the memories and altered brain chemistry because of it? That can't be any better for a mind reader to deal with than it is for Liv. ]

'I'm four hundred and thirteen years old but I'm turning another year older really really soon. We're not gonna celebrate though. We only celebrate every 5 birthdays because... well, we're timeless. So celebrating what could potentially be thousands of birthdays is stupid." She certainly didn't look four hundred years old...

"A lot of people think younger than I am because I removed my ability and much of my conscious mind with it." She removed her hat and pointed to a rather horrible looking scar above her left temple" But that's okay. My subconscious makes up for it!"

"Gave myself... Huh..." Koishi's smile vanished and she blinked, tilting her head. "I never thought of it that way before..." A pause. "Kinda? But the brain in my head is still fine. Satori youkai have two brains... kinda. They're just not connected anymore so they don't directly interact anymore... And the second one is kind of damaged."

A blue tendril with a wide spade on the end slid from Koishi's sleeve to support the camera. Her third eye drifted up, the little youkai gently opening it with her hands. The surface was completely frosted over, the cataract thicker in the middle in a horizontal line. "It was a really big knife. But I'm okay now." Her smile was back. Not as excited but it was certainly genuine.

"Not really. Our third eyes are special organs that help process the mind-reading. Except for the fact that other parts of our brains are in here too including several means of self-checking and forethought. So I have a hard time with that. Some types of emotion were in there too I have a hard time managing those. Mostly the long term ones. But I can reflect them appropriately if there is someone nearby that has them."

A pause. "Ohh! Yeah all satori youkai have extra limbs. I'm not sure why." She held up her opposite arm, several tendrils siding out. They all looked pretty much the same. "Youkai have fluid forms so it probably has to do with our original form before we decided to start looking like humans so humans would stop trying to exorcise and exterminate us. It happened before I existed though and I've always liked this physical appearance. No reason to change it~"
