[Sofia has done this dance before - arrive at a different world with it's own rules she has to obey unless she wants this world invaded by the enemies of her employers. She observed the necklace with curious eyes, even pulling out her own translucent smartphone to compare them for a second while she was walking, not even bothering to see where she was going and talking under her breath again]

Find a place, get a job. Sounds simple enough. Tedious, but simple... 

[Sofia rubbed the back of her neck and releases a frustrated sigh]

...Gah, feels like too much work. I'll do that later.

[While finding shelter and a livelihood is more important, her top priority right now is tea. She's less of a slacker once she had some of Oolong tea in her system]

Two different worlds before being dragged here and all of them had awful tea. [A sharp cringe] Should I go three-for-three?

[Seeing another opal necklace in the hands of a lady walking down the street catches Cherise's eye. That marks the brunette as someone 'real' according to the pamphlet, and such people are few and far between in this place. For a newcomer, she seems to be handling her situation well, which Cherise can appreciate. And then she says the 'T' word, and that indicates they might soon be fast friends.]

I beg your pardon for eavesdropping.

[Cherise steps forward, just enough to make her presence known without invading the invisible bubble of personal space. Her gloved hands are fitted neatly into the pockets of her cream colored peacoat, a thick green scarf wound about her neck to protect from the cold.]

If you're not against accepting the suggestions of strangers, I can recommend a decent cafe.

[She smiles with a faint hitch of her shoulders.]

First day?

[Sofia turned her head to the stranger, not looking surprised at all]

It is.

[So she's not the only alien one in here. That's good to know, at least she'd have someone to relate to a little]

This cafe would be even more decent if it's close by. I don't feel like walking for too long today. Oh, and if they serve some tuna fish sandwich.

[Despite her serious looking expression, she sounded pretty laid-back just then. She's always full of contradictions]

Mmm...

[Cherise looks toward the east.]

Well I can't speak for the tea personally, but Jack's does serve sandwiches, and it's only four blocks away from the Bay. The cafe is a bit further, I'm afraid. But it's up to you.

I guess I got no other choice. Lead the way, stranger.

[Sofia shrugs]

Ah! Manners, manners. Do forgive me, my name is Cherise.

[She offers a gloved hand. Her grip is wussy feather light, just a brief grasp before letting go. She leads the way, her pumps clicking rhythmically on the city street.]

This way, then.

Sofia.

[She followed Cherise's lead while memorizing details of the city street in her mind. She counts the amount of steps she's taking while looking for anything that stands out to use as "landmarks" later on. It looks like she's staying in this world for a long time...]

Okay, two questions. What's the deal with this place and how long have you been here?

[The deal? Cherise quirks her mouth to the side, unsure how to answer the first question.]

It's difficult to say. I've read the fliers, but it made no mention as to why we were brought here. I don't think Harry knows either.

[Shaking her head, she then fishes in her pocket for the folded flyer she kept. Now that she has the wizard's number, there's no need for her to keep holding onto the paper.]

I've only just arrived a few days ago, but Harry seems to have been here for far longer. If there are any questions I can't answer, he may be able to provide.

Harry. [Sofia nods] That's just his name? No last name or Red Baron title to go with it?

Harry Dresden. He seems to be a detective, but I'm unaware of any titles he may or may not carry.

[She passes over the flyer.]

Keep it if you wish. I have his number.

[Sofia keeps the flyer on her pocket to count it as "evidence"]

Harry Dresden. I'll keep that name in mind, thanks.

[With that, Sofia kept her mouth shut. She's not really the conversationalist type]

[Seeing that her new acquaintance seems to have no further questions, Cherise smiles and drops into companionable silence. There's plenty of time for small talk once the two ladies reach their destination.]

[Jack's is a pleasant enough place in the day. The karaoke stage is wide open, though no one seems up to rocking the mic just at the moment. Cherise is just glad to be out of the cold, and as soon as she steps through the doors, she releases a quiet 'whew!' as she unwinds her scarf from her neck.]

Do you have a preference on where we sit, Sofia?

[Sofia looked around and saw the booth on the corner]

Let's take a seat there. I always pick the booths.

[Sitting there had many advantages. It's close to the fire-exit and she could see the whole seating area from there]

[Cherise chuckles.]

You sound like my partner.

[Wolcott would have chosen the exact same spot, probably for the exact same reasons. Unbuttoning her coat, she sheds her winterwear just as they reach the booth. She'll allow Sofia to take the prime vantage point, folding her jacket neatly to lay it beside her once she's settled in. Peeling off her gloves, she picks up the menu. There's certainly no lack of sandwiches to be found.]

Well. Tell me about yourself. Where are you from? What's your world like?

[Ruby was out trying to get used to the city. You know, in case she was out doing things and forgot how to get home. Not that she actually thought that would happen but it was better to be safe than sorry, this place was pretty big after all.

Unfortunately she's paying a whole lot more attention to the buildings around her than where she's going and well she crashes right into Sofia's side.]

[Despite being pint-sized compared to Sofia, the taller woman really felt that once Ruby crashed into her.]

Oof--! I don't know you, kid. But put a little more weight to that, and I'm sure you'd tackle like a bulldozer...

[Regardless of how hard she hit Sofia, the impact still sent Ruby down on her tush.

She'll look up nervously.]

I'm sorry! I didn't mean to, I wasn't paying attention?

[Wait a second.]

Do bulldozers normally tackle things?

It doesn't matter. You're not the only one whose head is in a galaxy far, far away.

[Sofia dusts her clothes off and extends a helping hand at Ruby]

[She'll take that helping hand and pull herself up.]

Uhmmm... What? My head's right here.

I-It's a figure of speech. Don't worry about it.

Oh... Okay.

Aaaaaanyways. I'm Ruby, Nice to meet you! I'm guessing your new here too?

Sofia.

[She's not much of a talker, obviously. Not yet, at least]

Yes, I just got here not even 30 minutes ago. I assume you've been here for at least two days?

Sofia, right. That's a nice name.

[She'll think about it for a second and shrug.]

A couple more than that but yeah.

Thanks, my parents thought it was.

[Sofia then listened to Ruby say she's been here more than two days. That would be a good enough amount of time to get the basics of the place learned]

Good. So looking for a shelter and a means to get an income is top priority. Where would you suggest to begin?

Well there's a handful of apartments listed on the map.

Or I can show you the one where I'm staying. It's pretty awesome, it even has a pool!

A pool, huh?

[Sofia turned to face Ruby with hints of interest in her eyes. All the experiments she could do in that pool!]
