I've been running blood tests on a number of people around Genessia in an effort to find out more about this place, but I need a larger sample size to get anything accurate or useful. Originally, I was looking for something that I was hoping would be found in the new people, but I think the direction I need to look may be capable in all of us.

I need volunteers of different age ranges (children through seniors) and I need you to identify your species and exact age to make sure the test is accurate and any conditions that could have an affect on blood samples.

If you would like to volunteer, please reply and set up an appointment. Your participation will be strictly anonymous to the public and any information given will be protected and kept confidential. I don't think HIPAA applies here, but I'll be following it. Volunteering implies consent for data retrieved from these tests to be used in research regarding Genessia and how we arrived in this world.

In order to ensure that the test is not interfered with in any way, I won't be publically sharing what I'm testing for at this time.

I'll happily volunteer, but I imagine my blood won't be very useful. I'm the only troll that I've seen in Genessia so far, so you won't have anything to compare it against.

Maybe not, but it's hard to tell for sure until we try.

Hello. So how does this work, exactly?

[ Liv found someone else to eat that night, so she was at least capable of speaking now. Wasn't much of an excuse to get out of dealing with the people she was trying to avoid anymore, but they didn't have to know that until later.

Liv pulls a chair up for Porrim. It's got one of those big mini-table surfaces attached to it with a small brain-shaped stress ball and one of those BP pumps. ]

I'm going to do a couple of regular check-up things like taking your blood pressure and temperature, then I'm going to stick you with a needle and draw your blood. I'll bandage it up really well so it doesn't bruise. I have snacks and juice boxes in case you're feeling anemic afterward. Thankfully, a couple of early volunteers who got me a direction went through all of the less fun stuff so you don't have to. Any questions?

Ah, I assumed it would be more like a pinprick. If this is going to involve taking a significant quantity of blood, I don't think an abundance of carbohydrates are going to be quite sufficient...

It's not the carbs, it's the iron. Iron-rich foods go a long way.

Oh, well, I generally tend to opt for the most iron rich foods in that case. Food. Beverage?

Whole grain granola bars fortified with extra iron and vitamin d with cranberry juice.

No, I drink blood. Not exclusively but it makes up a fair amount of my diet.

Well that's... a confession.

[ Sort of. Liv hadn't expected that to be the case at all- who expected someone would tell them that blood was what they were asking for? But she looks a lot less weirded out than she probably should. ]

[ A better reaction then she was honestly expecting! She hadn't told very many people about it before; or any, in fact. Satori kind of knew, but that was different. ]

Troll blood is kind of off the table, what with there not being any others of my kind here. I think human blood would probably be the best substitute, but it's rather difficult to come across any ethically.

I've mostly been subsisting on goblin and troll blood that I purchase from shops in Fayren. The other kind of troll, that everyone always asks me why I don't look like, with the tusks and hulking demeanor and what not.

[ Satori knew about Liv too. She didn't appreciate it very much truth be told, but she understood how it was. Satori was also one of the people who came to Liv for human body parts to avoid murder. ]

Good to know. Wish I could do something to help, but hospital blood donations aren't really for consumption so much as saving people from car accidents.

[ Even if she had access to corpses, blood is a different matter. The mortician might question a body without blood... and she had noticed that for the most part, it seems like not everyone comes back. Just those with pendants. ]

Ah, well then I will have to make due with your angiosperm seedpod fluid and starch units. I'm sure I'm just being fussy for no reason.

Sorry. At least I know what to serve next time I have a cocktail party.

[ She's got her good humor about it at least. Even if she's a little too easy going about it. Honestly, Porrim could probably drink Liv's blood, infected or not. Strains of the viral component can't transfer from species to species. However, her heart also runs at 6 beats per minute. They'd both be there a long while trying to get enough out to be adequate. She knows- Ravi has complained about taking her blood more than once. ]

I won't take as much as I would other people, how does that sound? I'm trying to remain consistent, but I'm only taking so much so I can run the test multiple times to be sure.
