graduations: (What's ambience?)

anonymous text;

[ Yui wants to believe Mikoshiba, she does. He's a good friend. But to be fair- he's been trying to get them together since he met them, it's hard to tell what to take with a grain of salt when it comes to her love life. Which is what prompts her to seek a little anonymous internet help... ]

I know there are a lot of opinions that go around about different species around here...

What about romance between them?

If one were an immortal being or deity, and the other person was a young human... would that be acceptable?

I can't help but think there would be some problems, and I don't want to put anyone through unnecessary trouble or heartache. I don't even know if it's really reciprocated so maybe this is strange to ask in the first place, but I have much experience with dating at all. I'm nervous and after a recent incident, things keep feeling strange whenever I'm around him. I tried to talk it over with a friend, but there were so many confusing parts. Everything else I've thought of as a reason not to are things that we can work on if he felt the same way, but...

It can't be that simple, can it?

            Thank you,

There was fumbling before Koishi appeared on screen. "Well, yes. Of course it's possible. But it's also a taboo. I'm a youkai and I've lived a very long time and I've heard many stories about relationships between humans and youkai. As you mentioned before though it's bound to end badly. the stories I've heard end with the two running away and the human dying of age or it ends with the two not running away and the youkai getting killed by an angry mob... The surviving party in either case may or may not commit suicide. It depends on the tale."

She tilted her head. "Though I suppose if you could find a means to make yourself immortal then there isn't any issue with running away. Likewise if you could make the immortal into a mortal creature safely. Both are possible."

"You'd be shocked how many humans have problems with humans loving monsters. Of course, that's just the monsters. There are stories of humans loving divinity and the like. That doesn't work out well either."

Koishi tilted her head, pursing her lips and frowning a little bit. "Hmm... If you have magic its likely you could go through the steps to become a youkai magician. There's also what those taoists did. The elixir of immortality. Undeath is also an option."

"Hmm... Well becoming a youkai would change who you are as a person depending on what it is. Humans are more complex so that probably isn't a good idea if you're not willing to become static. Undeath also can change your personality. But not always."

"I mean..." She frowned a little. "You could become a shinto diety but I don't think there are enough people here to accomplish that... Maybe you could ask someone very nicely to pour your soul and consciousness into a construct. You could still be killed but you would be able to repair yourself and replace parts if need be. They're not very warm or cuddly though." She shrugged. "Honestly, humans have the best of all worlds. Except for the eighty year lifespan give or take."

She was trying to be helpful.

"You're welcome. I was created as a youkai so I wouldn't know what its like to be human but it does seem quite nice." A bright smile. "I hope you have an interesting life. I would very much like to know how things go."

After all. She'd never seen a human in a relationship with a non-human creature. Much less a god. What a story it would be.

"If worst came to worst when you start to die you can put your soul into a construct like I said. Or just bind it to something. You know. If you decided you wanted to not die yet."
