Valentine's Auction & Party!

WHERE: The Castle Royale Hotel, Genessia City.
WARNINGS: None.

The event space in the Castle Royale Hotel in Genessia City was decorated for this event. Pink hearts and other decorations were tastefully hung and placed all over the place to help people get into that romantic type of mood. It took quite a while to decorate it all, but it would take less time to get it all down once the event was over.

Just approaching the hotel, you would be able to hear the sound of music faintly playing. The event would have been awkward if there wasn’t any DJ at all to play music to get people in the dancing sort of mood. The DJ has their little area set up so he could entertain the guests with various genres of music. Some slow, some fast, some in-between. But the one thing it has in common is it is all something you can dance to.

The event officially starts at 5PM, but the doors themselves open at 4PM. Though at that time, things are still being set up, but you won't be asked to leave if you decide to sit around and wait for it to start.

Don't bid more in the auction than your character would plausibly have. For instance, if they don't have a job, they can't bid 10,000 redbills. Bidding should be done within their actual means.

[Balthier didn't need to be convinced to enjoy the party, always being a creature of enjoyment. He walked with his usual, calm swagger, smiling at those he knew and those who were strangers with equal looks.

When he saw Kahlan at the refreshment table admiring the assortment, he smiled when he was close enough to speak.]

I much prefer meeting this way, don't you?

[Kahlan turns towards Balthier with a practiced, if not amused, smile.]

It's certainly better than the alternative.

[Her head tilts to the side as she glances around him.]

You're here alone?

[askypirate]

Is it really? [He places a hand over his heart.] You wound me, Kahlan.

And yes. Is it so strange to enjoy a party alone?

No, only surprising for you.

[She smiles.]

I thought you were a ladies man?

[askypirate]

[He laughs.]

All the more reason to show up alone. Why decide before I arrive?

[hidden_truths]

[Kahlan just shakes her head though her smile remains in place.]

Just don’t go stealing someone else’s date. You’ll get in trouble.

[Her eyes flick over the food for a moment before picking up a small piece of some sort of vegetable.]

[Balthier reaches for something on the table as well, some sort of pastry, that happens to be nearer to Kahlan, bringing him closer to her.]

I believe a woman's choices are her own, and if she should change her mind at a party, who are the men to argue?

[Kahlan watches him curiously as he picks the pastry up from the table. She shakes her head slowly at his words.]

You're right about that.

[She might respect him a little bit more.]

Are your eyes set on anyone yet?

[Kahlan assumes that Balthier either has a plan or pretends to have a plan. Her eyes study him curiously as she finishes her small treat and then reaches for another. She might get a drink soon, she doesn't like eating too much at parties.]

Not as of yet. [He smiles in her direction, though, before tasting the pastry he'd selected.] Do you have anyone you would suggest?

[Kahlan laughs and shakes her head. She wouldn't wish Balthier on anyone though he's interesting enough to talk to.]

I haven't.

[She will also not look for you.]

I suggest you have a look for yourself if you're so eager.

[Kahlan takes another look at the spread and leans forward to pick up a small pastry that seems to have some sort of meat inside. Her hair falls over her shoulder as she stands putting the small treat into her mouth. Her smile widens a little bit more, she liked that.]

[So far there's only been one woman who could handle him, and he's very much devoted to her, if not faithful...]

I good point and wonderful suggestion. Who knows? The night is young, after all. Anything could happen.

[Kahlan doesn't look amused by this, mostly because Balthier is still hanging around her. She glances around for a moment but can't spot Richard in the crowd. With a soft sigh she turns towards Balthier.]

I'm afraid I can't entertain you longer. I have to go find my companion.

[askypirate]

[He inclines his head, smiling all the while.]

Of course. I shan't keep you any longer. Do enjoy your evening, Kahlan. I'm sure we'll meet again.

[Kahlan flashes him a smile before turning and heading back off to Richard's side. It isn't that she dislikes Balthier's company, she simply enjoys Richards more.]
