WHERE: The Castle Royale Hotel, Genessia City.
WARNINGS: None.

The event space in the Castle Royale Hotel in Genessia City was decorated for this event. Pink hearts and other decorations were tastefully hung and placed all over the place to help people get into that romantic type of mood. It took quite a while to decorate it all, but it would take less time to get it all down once the event was over.

Just approaching the hotel, you would be able to hear the sound of music faintly playing. The event would have been awkward if there wasn’t any DJ at all to play music to get people in the dancing sort of mood. The DJ has their little area set up so he could entertain the guests with various genres of music. Some slow, some fast, some in-between. But the one thing it has in common is it is all something you can dance to.

The event officially starts at 5PM, but the doors themselves open at 4PM. Though at that time, things are still being set up, but you won't be asked to leave if you decide to sit around and wait for it to start.

[She had not realized that until now. But she missed the whole context of the auction.]

Well.. That.. In that particular scenario, yes. (?) So, you could say that is wildly different from being confessed to.

[At least she wasn't wrong. All though, now she looks hopeless lost when the mention of confessions comes up.]

"I... I'm confused now. What exactly are we talking about...?"

[Satsuki seems hesitant to answer right away, but she certainly doesn't want Anastasia to feel embarrassed. It's true that try don't speak very much but she holds no pride in intimidating kids.]

It appears I have misunderstood your situation. I was under the impression that you were upset that your first time being asked out was by a pokemon. In my culture, that would imply the desire to date, so I wished to clarify that its actions would not 'count' as a confession, per say.

My apologies, I should have asked for clarification on your feelings before speaking my piece.

"W-well, yeah... I am upset about that. I'm just confused is all."

[Anastasia crossed her arms on the table and rests her head on her arms.]

"Dating has a lot of weight, though... A desire to bond which can lead to marriage. In my country, there is more to courtship than merely dating..."

That makes sense. But what are the specifics in your culture?

[Anastasia nodded, getting ready to give details on one of her kingdom's most popular tradition.]

"...When a boy and a girl are ready for marriage, the boy would ask for permission and blessing from the girl's parents. Her parents will give the boyfriend a set of 'Courtship Trials,' where he is given a test of strength and wisdom to prove he is more than ready, willing and able to carry out his role as a husband and a father."

[She took a breath.]

"The tests are never harrowing. If the boyfriend fails, he is free to try again at any time."

[As Satsuki listens, she nods and can't help but be reminded of a tale from Japanese folklore.]

Interesting. I confess I do find some.. Charm to that, even in modern times.

And this applies for Royalty? Or is it that in those circumstances only princes could accept such challenges?

"It applies to everyone. Royalty and commoners."

[She paused, as if remembering something she would be happier without.]

"However, royal trials might be a lot harder. And there are rumors of royal exceptions... I once heard a rumor that I would be given away to a foreign leader if I don't find someone my dad approves of..."

I had suspected royalty would at least pose a greater difficulty than the norm. I am unfamiliar with your world's politics but it.. Does sound plausible.

[Satsuki frowns a bit.]

At what age must you be wed? And how do you feel about such a rumor; is it good? Bad?

"16 years is the set minimum for girls. I do not have to wed at that age, I just need someone who made a promise."

[Now she's starting to look rather angry when she thinks about the subject in the rumor.]

"And... It's bad. Very, very bad. It is literally impossible for me to list out the differences between our two nations."

I see, so there is great tension between the nations. That certainly answers that.

[There are certainly details that she's missing, so it's difficult for her to fully agree. On the other hand, there are plenty examples of a renegade performing acts for the better. Does she want to tip that scale? It.. Probably isn't any of her business, really, but she'll keep the thought in mind.]

Ignoring that for a moment, are you interested in being promised? What is your ideal scenario?

[Anastasia quickly tries to hide her face, which was turning red as she blushes. Clearly, she had someone on mind.]

"D-do I want to be promised to? To be courted? I do... I really do... My ideal partner, well... His name is Noah. He's my guard. He made a lot of effort to become my friend, and introduced me to his sister who is my age. He's strong, noble, caring, and...and..."

[There is more, but she didn't want to get carried away.]

[Well. That's adorable. Satsuki ever so slightly raises a brow for just a moment, apparently having never gushed about someone before herself.]

He sounds like quite the gentleman; have you considered taking steps toward subduing him when you can?

[Maybe not the greatest choice of words, Satsuki.]

[She doesn't get the wrong idea, but having someone like him as a guard is what show cased her lack of leadership resolve. Something she really needs to work on.]

"N-No... He is very professional... ...most of the time."

Hmn. Perhaps that is a conversation best saved for a later date.

[Oops. Well... Satsuki probably shouldn't clarify on that, so.. She'll just go ahead and steer the subject in another direction.]

If I could, I would like to talk a moment about the suggestion of 'being given away to a foreign leader' that you spoke of before. If there is tension between nations, then how did such a rumor come to be?

"I don't know... and it is very illogical. I understand the concept of diplomatic marriages, but the way my people are, it is ultimately pointless."

[And she can think of at least three reasons why its pointless at the top of her head.]

From my perspective the 'pointlessness' is not so obvious. Would you mind clarifying?

"Well, the first problem is... If I'm given away to the Emperor, as the rumor says, then that puts me in a climate that will kill me.

Second problem, if my guard is not right for me as my father says, then why is the Emperor right for me even though it's said he has many wives and purposely throws away 'lesser' civilians to the slums?

And, third problem..."

[Anastasia blushed slightly as she looked around for anyone who might be listening. She went over to Satsuki's side to whisper something.]

"...So then, I think it's safe to say that the rumors have to be false, but still possibly realistic..."

Satsuki continues to appear thoughtful as she listens, though is a bit surprised to be receiving a whisper. She seems hesitant for a moment, but then leans in.

Well. That really does simplify things, doesn't it? Though she would guess it complicates matters in other ways as well.

"Yes, with those points I am inclined to agree. So then Noah is not of Riveran descent?"

"He is Riveran, yes. My father's usual excuse for not liking Noah is because he, umm... well, he is just being an over protective father."

Ah, one of 'those' scenarios. Cannot be helped, I suppose.

[It makes her think about her own father, which makes her gaze fall downward for a moment but then she returns to considering Anastasia's scenario.]

So now that you are here in Genessia, and away from your worlds politics, what kind of things are on your mind?

[Anastasia needed to think about it for a moment.]

"Everything I left behind. My friends, family, and people. How I'm going to get by constantly living in fear of the summer months. What am I going to do if I grow into adulthood while I'm here.

I'm filled with nothing but concerns and worries."

Thinking that far into the future.. That is extremely mature.

[Satsuki looks serious, but maybe Anastasia would pick up that it's praise.]

It is a shame how quickly Genessia forces youth to grow up, though I suspect you had a leg up on most anyway, considering your circumstances.. While I am unable to assist you with the worries of your homeland, I would suggest that you try to curb those worries. It is somewhat harsh of me to say, but worrying about the past will do nothing to aid you in your current circumstance.

And while it is fine to plan for the future, perhaps it would be best to gain experience, take small steps and build upward. Furthermore, I would be more than happy to help find a solution for your Summer problem, Miss Leonhart.

[She did give the princess a gift, but she's now worried it may not be enough after all.]

"If anything, Genessia gave a chance to be a child, to be a normal girl. In my country, I was always being prepared for my future. I never played with others my age until I came to Genessia.

I still prefer my own home though. So if you can help me in any way, I would appreciate it."
