WHERE: The Castle Royale Hotel, Genessia City.
WARNINGS: None.

The event space in the Castle Royale Hotel in Genessia City was decorated for this event. Pink hearts and other decorations were tastefully hung and placed all over the place to help people get into that romantic type of mood. It took quite a while to decorate it all, but it would take less time to get it all down once the event was over.

Just approaching the hotel, you would be able to hear the sound of music faintly playing. The event would have been awkward if there wasn’t any DJ at all to play music to get people in the dancing sort of mood. The DJ has their little area set up so he could entertain the guests with various genres of music. Some slow, some fast, some in-between. But the one thing it has in common is it is all something you can dance to.

The event officially starts at 5PM, but the doors themselves open at 4PM. Though at that time, things are still being set up, but you won't be asked to leave if you decide to sit around and wait for it to start.

[ooc: Below there will be 4 separate threads posted for all of the areas available. Feel free to use them or post your own outside of them. The auction now closed. Don't bid more in the auction than your character would plausibly have. For instance, if they don't have a job, they can't bid 10,000 redbills. Bidding should be done within their actual means.

Oh?

[Kahlan's eyebrow rose before she picked a drink for herself and turned back towards the dance floor.]

Will you tell me more about it? [She likes hearing about Richards home and experiences and this is one of the few times that talking about it seems relevant. She takes a small sip of her wine and smiles. She managed to pick a sweeter drink and she found she likes it.]

[He nods, sipping the wine and smiling.] It is springberry wine. [And he looks very pleased to have found it.] But...Michael's parties. They were always political, of course, but there was always food, music, dancing. They were fun. I only ever had to make an appearance because he's my brother. I never had to give one of his speeches.

[He sweeps his own gaze over the collected refreshments tables. This one had beverages, the next pastries, by the look of it. Small meats were further down and he started in that direction out of curiosity. Of course, most of the things Richard did were out of curiosity. Once he noticed something on the farthest table, though, he quickened his step.]

He always made certain things I liked were there, probably to keep me entertained. Considering I profited from his keeping up appearances, You'll never hear me complain. [He smiles, taking a small plate from the meats table and, using the provided tongs, taking a few pieces of short ribs from the serving platter. Then he turns to Kahlan, plate in one hand, glass of wine in the other.]

Here, try this. [He smiles.] They're smallribs. My favorite.

[Kahlan stays close at Richards side, her lips curl into a wide happy smile as Richard talks about his home. She likes hearing the happy memories of him and his brother considering everything that's happened. She hopes that one day he can have a happy normal life like before however they have a mission they have to complete first.

Her eyes fall to the ribs and she takes one without argument. She takes a small bite, her fingers rising up as if she might catch a piece falling from her lips.]

Mmm...[She doesn't expect the rich meaty flavor and as she finishes the bite she looks up at Richard.] It's good, I can see why it's your favorite.

[She finishes the rib and then takes another magically eating as to not make a mess. She's had practice eating at parties.

After a moment Kahlan looks towards the dance floor.] Does this mean you know how to dance? [She isn't sure how many dances from Heartland she knows but it'd be something fun the two of them could do.]

[Richard isn't nearly as delicate with his smallribs, but that's what napkins are for. These are strange napkins made of paper, but they do the job just as well. He finishes the ribs from his own plate and wipes his hands before disposing of the plate on a cart nearby for the purpose.

He follows her gaze toward the dance floor, smiles, and nods.]

I know a few dances. [He holds his hand out to her.] I can show you.

[Kahlan looks back at Richard wiping her fingers on a napkin as well. With a warm smile she lightly rests her hand over his and allows him to lead her towards the dance floor. She's curious to see if they know any of the same dances or perhaps she'll learn something new.]

I'd be honored.

[Her smile widens.]

What dance are you thinking?

No one else seems to be following a dance. [He shrugged, leading her to the dance floor.] So...why don't we see where this leads us? [He moves out into the floor, taking her hand and turning to face her, smiling.]

[Kahlan laughs and then follows, her hand resting lightly in his as they step into place. Her long hair falls gracefully behind her as she faces her charming partner.]

I believe it's up to the male to lead.

[Her tone is light and teasing.]

I trust I'll be able to follow.

[Kahlan knows a lot of dances.]

I think we perform better on equal terms. [He's smiling, but starts the first dance that comes to mind. It's usually danced in the spring and involves a lot of complicated turns.] But I suppose we'll see.

[Kahlan watches his footing and the distribution of his weight as he begins. Her smile widens when she realizes that she knows this dance. She brings up her palm and lightly rests it against his as her steps mirror his own.

She turns, needing no instruction before coming face to face with Richard once more.]

I like this dance.

[He nods, moving along with the tempo and maintaining eye contact with her when they face one another.]

They dance this dance in the Midlands, too?

[Kahlan smiles and nods.]

Our dances aren't so different.

[She almost wants to mention that there are dances everywhere but it doesn't seem important. For now she's happy, being able to move across the floor with Richard being her partner.]

Lucky for us.

[Kahlan laughs softly at the last few words feeling more weightless than she ever has before. In this moment, she's able to forget everything that's been weighing on her shoulders.]

[Richard thinks he's the lucky one, as they glide across the dancefloor. The only thing in this moment is the two of them, and he'd just fine with that being the case.]

I guess we have a lot more in common than we realized.

[Kahlan steps forward, her fingers lightly lifting from his hand to move to his shoulder as she steps up against him. There is a moment when her breath passes over his neck before she steps back, her other hand lightly moving to take his as they turn together and step along to the familiar dance.

She releases a light breath, her lips fixed in a smile that could weather the harshest storm.]

We aren't so different.

[The words mean far more to them then they might to someone overhearing.]

[Richard smiled as they moved through the motions of the dance. It had been some time since he'd danced this particular dance, but he found himself moving through it easily enough that he didn't need to pay too much attention to it and could, instead, focus on simply being with Kahlan.

The entire time they'd known one another, it had been one crisis after another and while he wanted to get back to their question, to end the tyranny of Darken Rahl, he was glad for the time Genessia have them to enjoy one another's company, even if it hurt sometimes.]

So, I think we're very similar.

Yes.

[Kahlan finds herself smiling more and more as their dance continues and yet she can hear the notes of the song as if senesing that it's soon to come to it's end. She tries very hard not to think about Richard in a romantic light but she finds that task more and more difficult each bad. She knows that she'd give her life for his; as a Seeker and his Confessor.

Except that there is more than just her duty that connects her to him: their is the lingering heat as his fingers brush against her, the flutter in her chest when she feels his eyes on her and as they step closer together she feels a giddy feeling rise in her chest while the warmth in her cheeks begin to rise.

The song begins to tapper and end, yet, Kahlan can't pull her gaze away from him. She remembers his kiss now, the heat of his lips against her own, the touch of his hand as he held her against him. In her heart she wishes desperately for that touch but she knows she can't. She's never met anyone like Richard before. He rushes into things without thinking at times but he isn't dumb. He's very intelligent and kind and brave; she's never met another man that measures up to him and somehow he's managed to secure her heart.]

[The music comes to a slow conclusion and Richard finds himself sad for it. If it were up to him, the song would last forever, and he and Kahlan could simply enjoy themselves without the pain of everything else pressing down upon them.

But it ended and with it, their dance, and then they weren't joined by anything except a lingering touch and a love they couldn't act upon. He pushed the feelings of sadness over that fact away and smiled through the pain.

He was good at it, after all.] Thirsty?

[She almost doesn't notice the songs end, her fingers linger against his hand before she glances up at him and smiles.]

Yes.

[A drink would be a good distraction away from Richard and the thundering in her chest. She almost feels foolish for letting herself get carried away like that.]

[Instead of moving his hand from her, he simply takes it, leading her away from the dance floor and back toward the refreshment table. Dancing was fun, but thirsty work.]

You're a very good dancer, Kahlan.

[Kahlan wishes she could stop smiling at him like that but it's proving to be more and more difficult.]

Thank you Richard. So are you.

[Though she isn't so surprised after hearing more about his brother.]

I really like dancing.

[Richard nods, getting first her a drink, then himself. He holds the glass out to her.]

I can tell. When you said, your eyes dance with you.

[Kahlan takes the drink with a smile and then wraps her fingers around the glass.]

Do I?

[She brings the cup to her lips tasting the sweetness of the drink.]

What about you? You seemed to enjoy yourself.

[Richard's still smiling as he takes a drink from his own glass.]

I'm always enjoying myself when I'm with you, Kahlan.

Me too.

[There is a call behind them noting the time of the auction though Kahlan pays little attention to it. Her eyes are set on Richard and she has to force them down to her drink though her smile remains. It's been more difficult without Ted here... They're so close all the time and yet so far away.

It only hurts more and more.]

How late did you want to stay?

[Richard's attention is pulled by the call of the auctioneer, too. It must have been that note on the newspaper.]

I don't have a preference, Kahlan, but...I'm a little curious about what that entails.

[Kahlan nods her head and then holds out her arm.]

Shall we go see?
