4th Aura | Video

[When the video starts Jaune just looks tired. Tired and aggravated, and it's apparent in his voice.]

I can't believe I have to say this, but since there's nothing stopping people who have committed murder here from running for City Guardian, apparently I do. You shouldn't vote for actual murderers like Reiner Braun and Roman Torchwick unless you like the idea of trusting an entire city to someone who either admits they murdered someone and does a bad job of even showing any regret or someone who's questionably claiming they're redeemed after...a few weeks? Even if he does claim he's trying to make up for his mistakes, you don't just suddenly lose all of your bad habits like criminal acts in a short amount of time and try to take on that kind of position without an ulterior motive.

This whole thing is stupid. It's stupid. I'm done talking about it. Just...if you want to know more about the crimes they committed while they were here, I can answer your questions. I doubt I'll convince other murderers unless they want the position for themselves.

Don't worry Weiss, I won't tell anyone about how you admitted you're bad at something. For one thing no one would believe me except those people. But just so you know, that's not much of a threat. Did the creepy guy's insight help?

[He glances down, looking a little ashamed.] I don't know. Pyrrha was trying to help me figure it out but...I don't know, Weiss. I can use my aura to heal, I even used it against Cardin one time, but every time I try to figure out my semblance, nothing happens.

I'm not bad at it I just have trouble with it. [ Don't say she's bad at it goddamn. Pause. ] Actually, Flynt, Ren, and Nora know about it too. They were there when I managed it, we just haven't talked about it. So I mean, you can discuss it with them, just don't mention that it's terrible. [ She shakes her head. ] Not yet. But I know that he summons things differently than I do, with an entirely different mentality. Mine is to protect those who are still alive, his stems from understanding death and the moment before it in which every ounce of a being is reaching out for anything to fight to stay alive.

[ Oh. Hm. ] Well.. that's alright. Truth be told, I'm not really sure how others figured out what theirs was either beyond a textbook understanding. Schnees all have the same semblance. It sounds like you've got an understanding of the basics except for that, though, so I have a couple of ideas for a team attack whether you know yours or not. You have to trust me though because it'll depend largely on you being the physically stronger one and my glyphs. And balance, which you may have to work on or else you'll go toppling sideways the second I start altering gravity. [ She pauses. ] I did think of it because of the knight theme though, if you can manage it, so I think you'll be pleased with it if you want to try it.

Okay, you're not bad, you just need to work on it. Huh. They never mentioned it to me. [They didn't talk about that night much at first though so he's not surprised it didn't come up.] His sounds almost cruel. If it's based on that feeling and it's meant to...grab their attention or whatever, it has to be painful.

Accidents or protecting people? [He won't go into detail about what Ozpin told him, but he figures it's a valid guess.] I trust you. [It's said firmly, and completely sincere, but as he listens his eyes widen in interest.] I don't know if I trust my balance. But I'll perfect my balance for the team attack because this sounds like it's going to be really cool and I want to see it. I told you White Knight was a good name. When can we start practicing?

I can't really blame them for not wanting to talk about it. [ Weiss didn't really want to talk about it beyond mentioning that it happened. But she had to focus on it a lot, since she knew she wouldn't be able to summon again unless she figured out what it was about that moment that let her do it and learn to control it. ] Well obviously it's painful, they're getting killed. That's not what mine is though. Thankfully.

[ Weiss leans back in her chair. Now that she's got an idea, she wants to try it. What can she say? She's a fan of really cool fighting moves. After a moment of leaning back in her chair, managing to balance it without effort, she manages to read the clock in the other room and lets the chair fall back flat onto the ground with a little 'oof' from the impact. ]

One of my deputies should be back to watch the office in about 20 minutes. I'll work out some sketches for the attack so you have a visual. It'll be my turn to be out on the town soon anyway, so I'm sure we can stop by a park to practice.

[He nods.] Either way, it sounds like yours is based on feeling. If you can find a way to understand that more, and harness it when you want to, you might have an easier time summoning what you want. ...You said the knight was important to you, so what if each summon is associated with a different feeling or memory you have?

[Just watching her balance in a chair is mildly disorienting.]

Weiss, I didn't know you were an artist. Okay, I'll get my stuff together.

Of course it's based on feeling it's.. part of me. That's what a semblance is, it's part of who you are. For better or worse, my family and our legacy is incredibly important to me. Maybe.. that's why you haven't been able to figure out what yours is. If you got here and have been working on the basics, you haven't had time to figure out who you are and who you want to be, so much as just scrambling to find a way not to get yourself killed.

[ Try watching her do it while she's standing and pointing at Blake.

She's not even going to delude him about this. But it's probably going to be an understatement of the year about her lack of talent. ]

Maybe. I always wanted to be a hero. Someone who saved people and protected them, not someone who needed saving or got stuck in trees like some damsel or cat or--nevermind. The point is, I'm not sure what that means anymore and on top of that I'm trying not to get killed.

[How is she able to balance so well.

He shakes his head. Obviously she must be being sarcastic right now.]

We all want to be heroes, Jaune. I may not be an expert on figuring out semblances, but I think you might need to understand a little more than that. I hate to give Professor Oobleck any credit, but when we were on our mission, he asked each of us why we wanted to become a huntress. That question was harder to answer than any of us really thought. It might be good for you to think about too.

[ And with that, she's going to turn off her video and get to work on her lovely piece of art. ]

Why I want to be...?

[He thought he knew that answer, but when Weiss mentions it, it actually catches him off guard. He's had strong feelings about some things, but he's always been more comfortable acting on them, rather than reflecting on them. He can figure it out later though. Once he grabs his armor and weapon, he heads to her office.]

[ When Jaune gets there, he may immediately notice a drawing on Weiss's desk. The meaning is probably clear enough, even if the artistic ability leaves much to be desired. Probably. ]

Come on in, I'll get my things.

[ Jaune is welcome to check out her office (or the horrible scribbles) while Weiss stocks her pack up with spare dust and some necessities. ]

[Any words Jaune was going to say immediately die when he sees the drawing. Maybe if he rotates it around...? He gets the basic idea, so maybe he's just in shock.

This should be one of Remnant's artistic wonders he's calling it.]

Your plan is for us to attack a porcupine?

Wha- That's a Beowolf!

[ WOW JAUNE, INSULT HER GRIMM WHY DON'T YOU!!!! ]

...Ohh. I see it now!

[He sounds like he's saying it just to appease her.] So your plan is for you to use your glyphs--those are glyphs, right? To have me pulled charging at the Grimm with gravity to lance it? Cool!

The bottom glyphs are the speed-glide glyphs, the one behind the Beowolf is gravity. It's inspired by medieval lancers since you were talking about knights, hence the name. Instead of a horse, you'd be riding my glyphs, obviously. Which means you need to be able to channel as much of your aura into your sword as possible because the alteration of the gravity should run your sword through just about anything in one hit as long as you can use your aura to keep it from breaking. Beyond that, you need to manage not falling over when you're not the one in control of your movement.

And you thought of this that fast when we were talking about my awesome team name? Am I...am I wearing a headband? [Nevermind.] I've tried channeling my aura before, so I think I can do that, but if I'm channeling most of it and then I fall or miss...

[He gulps and shakes his head.] We can do this. It will just take a lot of practice. [At least Weiss pays attention and once they've become an expert at this attack there won't be any confusion in an actual battle. That and it was her idea.]

Don't channel all of it. Leave some for defense. If you screw up and end up in the hospital, I'm not paying your medical bills.

[ She's such a great friend. ]

I've paid attention to your fights before. I saw you take down the Ursa in the forest to save Cardin, I've seen you practice all the time, and I've seen your tournament fights. JNPR's teamwork may be a little embarrassing, but it's easy to tell what you're all individually capable of- enough that it's just a matter of thinking how I can enhance that when it comes to team attacks. But I know we can do it, so let's go practice. We can probably start with a tree or a rock or something.

[ They're heading out now. Porcupine Grimm or not, obviously it got the message across. ]

If I screw up that badly I would deserve it.

Wait, you actually pay attention when I practice? You don't just look away? [In disgust or disdain or anything else.] Sure, let's start with something very hard and with more potential to result in permanent injuries instead of a Grimm shaped pillow. Or something.

Of course I do. It's impossible to learn without observation and while most people keep their eyes on Pyrrha when your team fights, it's actually the rest of you that I think there's more to learn from. Pyrrha's a great fighter, but the fact is she had essentially no one to challenge her at Beacon. She was far beyond most of our levels on day one, so anything I could learn from watching her was in regards to how she interacted with the rest of your team. In terms of improvement, Pyrrha showed the least at school because she started ahead whereas you showed the most significant improvement out of anyone at Beacon. [ Weiss holds her hand out, shifting her weight to one hip. ] Considering where you started, that's a lot more impressive than I previously thought it was.

[ She leans in with a questioning look. ] Do you have a Grimm-shaped pillow lying around? because otherwise, a tree is probably the best starting place. Or Holodeck'd.

[He's silent. He looks away, thinking about what she's said.] I'm still behind everyone. I have to catch up. I'll never be on Pyrrha's level, but everyone else keeps improving. I don't want to stay behind forever.

[He leans back, meeting her eyes.] Why would I? Let's just go with the tree or the rock. I've never been to that place yet, but it sounds like a building and we should probably do this outside.

If you were already at the same level as the rest of us, I'd be embarrassed. Though if it helps you feel any better, you did far better than Neptune did and you've never ditched us in a fight against Roman Torchwick to go eat noodles. And you're going to benefit from both Pyrrha and my training, so you're getting top-of-the-class tutelage.

[ She shrugs. ] I don't know, you're the one who suggested it. It's one of Guardian Haller's training facilities, but I'm fine with the park if you are. [ They're leaving now, come on Jaune. ]

...I did better than Neptune? [From an objective standpoint, he guesses he can see it. But the concept of him doing better than someone goes so much against what he's used to it takes him by surprise. Wait. Noodles.] I feel like I'm missing something here. That's true. Maybe with your intelligence and Pyrrha's strength, I'll manage to outdo both of you. [He's not really serious, which is why he says it.]

So it's like a fancy gym? [And he follows!]

Oh. Remember that news report about rose petals after a highway wreck? That.. may have been Team RWBY plus Sun and Neptune versus Roman Torchwick in a stolen Atlesian Paladin. Except Sun and Neptune fell off the side of the highway and instead of coming back to help, they went for noodles. Which is fine since we completely destroyed the Paladin anyway and Torchwick had call for help to retreat. [ Pause. It's about to become very obvious that aside from Neptune's philandering ways, she's not too impressed with him in other manners. He may have had their back when it counted at the fall of Beacon, but he's still pretty embarrassing. ] Did you watch Team SSSN's team fight in the tournament? Sun was impressive, but Neptune spent the entire fight either flirting with the other team or cowering at the sight of water. The only useful thing he did in that battle was stick his glorified fork in the water when Sun screamed at him to do literally anything to help. Neptune may be ridiculously attractive and he may be Sun's best friend, but he has a long way to go in terms of becoming a huntsman.

Yes, specifically for fighters.

Were they good noodles? I don't think I could eat noodles after a fight. [he cringes.] I saw it, but I never thought of it in terms of him versus me. I just thought it was kind of pathetic. [Attractive. She thinks he's attractive. He rolls his eyes a little, but even he has to admit he's incredibly cool style wise.] But can we name his weapon glorified fork from now on.

Wha-- there's another gym for fighters?!

How should I know? It isn't like I was eating them. [ Of course he's attractive Jaune what else do you think could get her to accept someone calling her "Snow Angel" on day one? ] I find that acceptable.

There are lots of gyms for fighters. I have a friend who runs one, I help him out with paperwork sometimes. He helped teach me how to use both my sword with both hands. [ She holds up both of her hands like full on spirit-fingers. ]

Well, the fact that Torchwick still had to retreat while using one of your giant fighting robots is kind of sad. [There's initially attractive and then there's Neptune. Sometimes Jaune thinks his semblance is being attractive despite his personality.] So do I.

It's like your fighting abilities have doubled! Which friend is that?
