[The gates are open and the air is filled with the sound of music. Whether you're a reveler, a vendor or anything in between-- come and enjoy the festival!

*Though, despite the fact she had accepted the drinks out of kindness, none of the men had been invited to sit down with her, and none had spoken with her for long at all. For Sonico, drinking their drinks really was just being polite*

Maybe there's a stall selling one. Unless it's a prize.

*Slightly away from the rides appear to be various stalls for winning things, including large plush cats*

I'm going to go find out! You want to come too?

Sure.

[With his hands in his pockets he follows behind her, looking over her head to see if he can spot that ridiculous prize. He eyes some of the games and while they look simple they look as if there is a small part of them that makes it difficult.]

These are all rip offs.

[As they walk Terrance is going to start smoking.]

Hmm. I think you might be right.

*Then clearly she spots it because she begins walking quicker towards one of the stalls where some of the cats were on display*

Here they are!

*But then her faces falls when she sees what the game is - throwing a tiny hoop on some very precarious and awkward targets*

This looks impossible.

Improbable.

[He corrects her automatically.]

We already saw someone else win it.

[Terrance studies the game curiously. He understands how it works but having an understanding and having the dexterity to toss a tiny hoop are two totally different things.]

Let's try.

Okay. Improbable.

*Sonico can't help but actually smile at the way he corrects her*

I'm willing to bet that little girl didn't do it by herself, either.

*She looks at him uncertainly but shuffles forward to ask the uninterested atttendant to have a go. She looks a bit alarmed at how much it is to try, but takes money from her pocket and hands it over*

[Terrance has to resist his initial impulse to just swipe the toy and leave before the attendant knows it's gone. He steps up next to Sonico and pulls out his wallet and the small collection of red bills there. He really isn't used to having money.]

I get it. I'll play too.

[He isn't going to pay for her since that'd involve stealing the money from her hand but he'll place enough red bills down for 10 plays.]

You can go first.

*Sonico looks a bit startled at the suggestion that he was going to play too*

N-no, no. You don't have to. That isn't -

*She almost reaches out a hand to stop him paying but it's too late. Instead, she puts down an equal amount in case they need another 10 plays*

Alright. I'm ready!

*Sonico bounces on the balls of her feet for a moment as she takes the small plastic hoop. Then she stops deadly still, takes a deep breath, and chucks the hoop. It smacks the back of the stall and rolls away*

Oh...

[Terrance carefully weighs the ring in his palm. It's light though there isn't an wind to redirect his force. If he's going to make it he has to get the angel just right and while he might look silly doing it, it means throwing it underhanded so that the ring is about to loop and fall in the appropriate place.

After a few seconds he throws the plastic ring and watches as it taps the top of his goal and bounces away.]

Close.

[Though he might not be able to do much better. He has no practice with this sort of hand-eye coordination and he doesn't believe in luck.]

So close!

*Sonico claps her hands together in appreciation of his efforts*

Okay! I'll try again!

*So she does. Again and again and again. Sometimes she is close, sometimes not even. After one particularly bad throw the attendant just snorts: "Look, go for the easy targets. Win one of these prizes." And he points at a box of rather stale looking cupcakes*

Thank you, but I'm aiming for this one.

*Sonico points at the giant plush cat toy, looking brand new and super cuddly. Then she turns to Terrance and smiles as she explains*

It looks just like one of my cats at home.

[Terrance nods and keeps trying as well. Eventually he buys them each 10 more games. His throws are always close, just barely missing the target. The guy must have felt bad for the pair because he moves closer to Terrance and lowers his voice.]

The trick is to tilt the ring back to hook it.

[Terrance blinks a few times and then begins to try it as instructed. It takes time for him to figure out how to throw it and twice it almost looks like he has it until...]

*Until he scores! Finally the hoop lands on its target, prompting Sonico to clap her hands with delight and make a noise of excitement*

You did it! You finally did it! Well done!

*Then she points up at the three 'grand prizes' on display*

Now you can choose one of those!

[Terrance shakes his head.]

You choose, I don't want it.

[Seriously, what would he do with a large stuffed animal?]

But why would you spend a lot of your time and money trying to play this game if you didn't want one?

*Cause seriously, this game was a total nuisance and had even tested her endless patience*

You wanted it.

[He shoves his hands into his pocket and rolls his shoulders in a shrug.]

*Sonico gives him a warm smile, because it was warm and nice to know he'd helped her. She silently turns to the attendant and points to the cat just like her one at home. Despite wanting to squeeze the thing, she doesn't, and holds it out at arm distance to him*

Here, you should have first hug.

[Terrance puts his hand on it and pushes it back at Sonico.]

Hug it for me.

[He isn't hugging a stuffed cat in public.]

*You don't have to ask her twice. At once she squeezes the thing (about the size of her body) to her chest, arms wrapped extra tight around it*

It's so cute and cuddly!

*She is a mature adult, honest, but she couldn't look more happy to be cuddling a large plush cat*

[Terrance's lips crack into a smile. He shakes his head and begins moving pass the both so others could try.]

Good.

[Because it took a lot more money to get then he cares to admit.]

*Still squeezing the cat, Sonico follows alongside Terrance, looking around at the other stalls*

Now I need to win a prize for you! Or we could go see what the vendors are selling if you like?

I don't want anything Sonico.

[He's used to living a simplified lifestyle. He's never had anything and because of that he's never wanted anything. Unless it's a rock or can fit in his pocket.]

Oh. Okay.

*Sonico hugs the cat a little less tightly as they walk along*

Then thank you very much for winning this for me. It'll be nice to have something more like home around.

[Terrance shrugs, unsure of what to say. He is happy she likes it but something is stopping him from coming out and saying as much. He pauses when he hears a crash and looks up at the sky. When did it become night time?]

Fireworks?

[Another bright cloud of color explodes in the sky above their heads.]

*Sonico is also surprised, and she jumps as she is startled by the first explosion. But when those colours appear in the sky, Sonico hugs the plush cat in excitement*

Fireworks!

*They were in a relatively crowded part of the fair with people bumping into them when they paused*

Do you like fireworks? Maybe we can find somewhere quieter to watch them?

[Terrance looks around them and then nods his head.]

Sure.

[He doesn't know where she'd want to go.]

Lead the way.

*So Sonico begins to wander through the crowd, eventually coming to a park area clearly full of people gathered for the fireworks. There are a few spots on the grass here and there among friends and couples*

Should be stand or find somewhere to sit? We can use the kitty as a cushion.
