[He makes it sound like a question, but the turtle's now on the booth in front of her. At the very least, he figures someone can make better use of it than either himself or Reno (who he has at least saved some of the more...potentially creatively useful toys for).
Beyond that, he's not planning to intrude. She just happened to be next to him when he'd been handed the toy and he just wants rid of it as soon as possible.]

Okay but one condition.
[A small smile tugs at Airy's lips.]
You have to name it.
[She really hopes he does though even if he doesn't she might just name it Shot. Rude is a great shooter, which she'd seen while standing next to him during the game, and it feels fitting.]

A child might have swayed him. But it's been a long time since he's indulged in any sort of child-like behaviour and this isn't something he can quite wrap his head around.
It doesn't show, in posture or expression or in tone when he does speak. But the very nature of the question may well betray his confusion anyway.]
Why?
no subject
His question is a common one and doesn't come as a surprise. Airy looks down at the turtle feeling a smile spread wider on her lips.]
There is a lot that people say about Name's: they hold power, they erase fear, they identify, they define and they can make something more or less than what it is. [She looks up at him, her gaze clear and warm.] By giving it a name we can create something, a memory and a personality and gift it to the stuffed animal. I know it sounds silly.
[She really does know that it sounds silly.]
But a name can mean something and then everything around us means so much more. It makes it special not just another turtle.
[Airy truly believes that everything is special. It's the small things: a name, a gift, an intention; that bright a smile to her lips.]

[Rude is not unaware of the power of names. He knows even now that mentioning "Shinra" back home is liable to get some reaction from most people - what type of reaction varies, but reaction all the same. Equally, even here he still considers himself to be a Turk because that's what he's spent so much of his life being and it's as much an identifier to him as his own name, more so in most cases.
This, though, is a different matter, largely because for him it is just another stuffed turtle. There's no definition for him to want to make for it because as soon as he got it, it had become just something else to find a better home for. And for that, he just can't invest himself into caring for anything beyond it no longer being his problem.]
no subject
[She smiles at him before canting her head to the side.]
Where did you learn to shot like that? You sort of look like a bodyguard. [Airy knows what bodyguards look like because she works with a lot of them. Always standing up straight, always aware of what's around them and scarily good at firearms. She's getting better herself but she still has to practice.]
no subject
[Bodyguard is the highly sanitised version of what he does but there's no need to drag out the dirty business where it's not needed. Maybe if Rufus were here, things might be different, but unless and until that happens, he and Reno are free to follow their own wants for the time being.
As to the rest of her question...well, he won't get into the whys of it. But she'll still get an answer and a true one.]
Been at it long enough.

[HQ is a strange place.]
Do you prefer to use guns?
no subject
His quietness is a mask, often, but it's a mask built from more truth than some might think.
He can find an answer to the latter, though it's careful, measured, trying not to give too much away. Caution as habit, because he never will assume things are safe where he or his fellow Turks don't have control of a situation.]
They have their uses.
no subject
Are you against answering questions directly?
[She's noticed that he doesn't even answer a yes or no questions. She doesn't care what his skill set might be, just if he likes guns. She's read about different designs and types as well as their development over the years and finds it all really interesting. She doesn't think it's a bad thing to talk about but then, she's noticed, that some people here always assume the worst of everyone.
It's sad.]
no subject
And having people question that certainly doesn't help.]
Answer is what it is.
[And really, he thinks his answer is more helpful than a straight yes or no in this instance. But if it's not good enough? He's not going to stick around and force himself to endure further questioning along a line he has no reason to tough out.
He did what he intended. Time for him to go see if he can't track down a certain redhead and remember what he actually came to this thing for.]
no subject
[Airy asks quickly hoping she hasn't bothered him to much. It'd been selfish on her part. She'd been looking for something to talk about, some distraction to keep her thoughts away from the depressing turn they've been taking.]
I'm Airy... Sorry if I was rude. I really am happy- er, thankful for the turtle. Even if you just didn't want it.
no subject
He spares a look over his shoulder, just long enough for him to reply.]
It's Rude.
[And he won't offer any further explanation before he steps away. He's answered the question asked of him; whether he's believed or not is out of his hands where he isn't invested enough to clarify.]
