Welcome to the Festival of Fireflies

[The gates are open and the air is filled with the sound of music. Whether you're a reveler, a vendor or anything in between-- come and enjoy the festival!

[Before she can answer, the cups began to spin. Once it got to full speed, she was hanging on for dear life and didn't look at all to be enjoying herself.]

"Too fast! Too fast!"

[Thankfully, the ride didn't last too long. Just two minutes, and the ride is over. The tea cups slow down until it comes to a full stop. The priest released the door and then stumbled to sit down on the bench for the spinning inside of his head to past.]

"Urgh~ Sorry about that. Thought it would be fine."

[Anastasia followed, but stumbled with each step. The world was spinning far too much to figure out which way she was going.

When she finally found her way off, she tripped over her own feet and fell forward with a gasp, hitting the ground with a light thud.]

[Shocked, Abel rushed forward to her side.]

Are you okay? Oh, I'm so sorry!

[Abel picked her up and placed on the bench for her to sit.]

[Anastasia would feel cold as Abel carried her, a natural thing for her. Once she was set on a bench, she closed her eyes so she wouldn't have to look at the world spinning. Of course, this made her wobble.]

"The ferris wheel was better..."

It would be, but wouldn't that be too high? Some people are nervous of heights.

[Plus the cars tend to rock back and forth when the wheel turns.]

[Anastasia opened her eyes to look at Abel, her baby blues struggling to focus on him.]

"I've been on one before, during the last festival."

"Okay. Do you want me to go with you? I haven't been on it yet." [Oh he suddenly realized he asked her, a perfect stranger.] "Oh, I realized...um...if you don't want me to, I can ride alone."

"You can come. But, after my last experience, I think I'll be more comfortable in a separate car."

[She means no offense. She is just not used to being around males. Plus, her last companion on the ride was weird.]

[Sensing her discomfort.]

"Oh? I'm curious. What happened last time? Was it unpleasant?"

"Well, he's someone who one day started acting like a self-appointed guardian for me. We rode the ferris wheel together, but he only asked me about 'Heiress-startle' and something about slavery and destiny..."

[The first name, she meant Aristotle.]

[Hmm, curiouser and curiouser.]

"And do you understand anything he said?"

"I do not."

[She remembers thinking it was a very dark topic to bring up at a carnival.]

"Well, I won't push it. But if you have a question, you can talk to me about it. Maybe I know something."

[A pause, a beat.]

"Do you feel better now? You're not dizzy or anything. I can get you a bottle of water."

"I think the question I was asked back then was, 'what did I think of men being born to be slaves?"

[When she was asked about water, she held up two fingers.]

"May I have two bottles of iced water?"

"Okay~."

[Abel went to fetch it from a vendor cart, and brought back three. Two for her, and one for him.]

"Huh, that was a complex question to ask a little girl. What do you think? I think slavery is not okay. Is never okay. People shouldn't be forced to do things against their will."

"Thank you."

[Anastasia takes the bottles, she collects her thoughts.]

"I agree. The Great Firlandic Empire, my kingdom's historic enemy, will conduct tests on their citizens. Those who don't meet 'normal' standards are thrown away into the slums.

Horrific abuse of human lives, but it may explain why it is the most massive and powerful of the six master nations of my world... However, it's the fact that there are five other super nations and how the Empire failed to conquer my nation 19 years ago proves that power doesn't come from throwing away certain citizens."

[She removed her hair ribbon and twisted the cap off of one of the water bottles, raised it over it head and gently poured the chilly contents all over her head. She didn't flinch at all. Once the bottle was empty, she put her hair ribbon back where it belonged.]

"That's better."

[The Father listened intently, taking it all in. Ah, he react unsightly and physically at the mention of science being used to abuse on normal citizens.]

"Oh, that is very horrible. Don't you think one day it would stop?"

[Well, Abel is quite hot too. It is a humid summer.]

[Anastasia looked on ahead, her eyes narrowed.]

"When I inherit my father's kingdom as Queen, I intend to make it stop. The Endless Blizzard will ground the Great Phoenix."

[Giving it some thought.]

"From the sound of it, if you are going to be queen, you can change the laws and help save lives, and improve the welfare of your people."

"You misunderstand, Sir. Allow me to clarify...

I'm Anastasia Kitty Leonheart, Princess of the Kingdom of Rivera, land of holy rivers and eternal winter. Our enemy is the Great Firlandic Empire, land of Mana-technology and blazing summers.

My people are permitted to do as they wish, within limits of our laws. It's the Imperial citizens who are abused."

A nervous laughed. He has trouble keeping up with conversations. "I...oh. I'm sorry! Forgive me. Politics isn't my strong suit. I'm a simple priest, you see. Still, with you being the queen, would that be a good thing?"

"I don't know. Most of my people and our allies have no objections. But there is one other super nation across the sea that threatened my nation's destruction just because I'm a girl."

[She twisted the cap off of the second bottle and took a small drink from it.]

"If I become Queen, I have a feeling a new era of civilization may follow close behind."

[Abel nodded. Looks like she's feeling better, so perhaps she should be good for that Ferris Wheel.]

"You seem afraid and uncertain. Are you afraid what the future entails? Well, you're young now, so don't rush into growing up. Enjoy today."

"That's true... I should be ready for anything by the time I'm Queen."

[She was feeling better as she just opened her parasol, holding it up to shield her from the sun.]
