Fayren Area

Jade arrived via the bay a few days ago. He taken up temporary residence at a local inn in Fayren. While his dislocation from his world is disorienting, he researched the library, scrolled through the network on his phone, asked important questions here and there for the answers.

Pretty much the colonel had done his homework as he researched the necessary information to his satisfaction. For now, he dines at a café for lunch, and it is time to introduce himself to the video feed:



"Good afternoon, citizens of Genessia. My, my what a very quaint world this! I am charmed by each and every one of you. The residents here have been very kind to me, as they explained everything to me. So if you like to introduce yourself, there's no need to orient me as I gotten much of everything down on my own. I'm quite a scientist myself, you see! *a laugh here*

Allow me to introduce myself: I am Colonel Jade Curtiss in the Third Division of the Malkuth Military at your service. I served the Emperor in the kingdom of Malkuth, and he happens to be good friend of mine. I wondered if anyone has seen Emperor Peony? If not, that's all right. I supposed he's back home, well protected. A little vacation away from the kingdom wouldn't hurt.

Pardon my semantics, as the definition of magic here differs from my world. I'm a spearman of the spear and a magic-user, though in my world, we call our magic techniques fonic artes. Fon being the basic element particle of my world, my planet of Auldrant.

That being said, I can cast my artes, my spells, with the following elements: Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Dark, and Light. That's six elements we have. The 7th being Sound, but that element in my world is unstable and cannot be used by me.

The archways is the most fascinating fon...oh excuse me, that's magi-technology. I wonder what fuels them? Well, better to see that such technology aid the people!

[What a precocious talking doll. Small, girly hands came into view to wrap around him and pull him out of the way, replaced by the face of a young girl.]


"Or rather, are you a teacher of spirit artes?"

[Jade looked at the girl with a sense of familiarity at her talking doll.]

"No. I'm a soldier. I never heard of the spirit artes. Is that something particular to your world? I know a friend who uses her artes to manipulate her doll. She is what we call a puppeteer."

"Uh-huh.

I have something called a 'Mana Lobe.' Spirits eat the mana from there, and in return, they let us use artes. It's a, uh, sim-bi-oh-sis."


"Look at her workin' those big words~ Her mana lobe is huge too! She can channel spirits better than most adults~"

"I talked with a few of the residents for information, mostly those who seem to live here all of their lives. Charming folk. Do you come from another world yourself?"

You can use magic based from all those elements? It must be nice to be versatile like that...

[Oh a dragon? Curiouser and curioser. Beasts and monsters don't talk in his homeworld, but they do have a degree of consciousness, some of them at least. That is his reason to find her interesting and curious.]

It takes decades for me to learn, but I learn my magic since I was a young child. I was considered a prodigy by some~.

[Jack floated behind the colonel as he made his introduction, amused at how long winded it seemed to him. At the same time though he found this new person interesting, especially if he could do everything he claimed he could.]

[Jade looked up from his phone and he smiled. Jack seems like a boy of many talents with an interesting power.]

Good afternoon~. How are you? Are you here because you're interested in magic?

{ A magic-wielding colonel in an empire? Well, that caught his interest. Zeref deliberately ignored his request to see magic; his was incredibly dangerous, as a few people in this world were very much aware. }

I can't say the name "Peony" is familiar to me, but I would be interested in hearing more about this "Malkuth."

Malkuth is the name of the kingdom, the empire I hailed from. The capital is Grand Chokmah. The nation's emblem is the harp, and we have a strong focus on strengthening our artes...that's spell-casting to you~

[There's a fox-like boy with white hair peering into the screen with a slight hint of amusement in his eyes. It's clear that the youth doesn't appear to be fully human but he seems human enough. He inspects the screen for a moment with a slight smirk before glancing away.

Something in the distance caught his attention. That much could be certain considering how his ears twitch.]

[Jade seen a lot of monster/beast types in his world, so he's curious about this one.]

Well, that's my way of introducing myself. I suppose everyone can, if they have no hearing or vision problems.

Good evening, Colonel. I'm Professor Charles Rieben. It's a quite a pleasure. I'm a well-studied man, myself, though magic has ever-eluded me. I fear I have no talent for it whatsoever. I would, however, be quite honored if I were allowed to "see yours", as you say, and even more so if you'd grant me more information about these "fons". It all sounds rather fascinating, but not quite unlike my own world, semantics aside.

[Presumbly it's almost late afternoon to be close to the late evening, that Jade received this message after meeting quite a number of friendly people.]

Good evening yourself, professor. It's been a long while since I last been in a school. I used to study science to be a scientist, but then changed my career to be enlisted in the military.

"Fons" is shorten word for Fonon in my world. To translate that to your language, it's similar to an atom, but not quite. It is the energy in my world that fuels the elements like fire and water. Any person who could control fonon can cast spells.

That is to say, in my world, matter consists of fons, and a type of elemental property.

Do I make sense? And of course, you may see mine, I'm still in Fayren. I was thinking what to eat for dinner.

The definition of advertising is trying to sell something. As oppose to assessing each other's strengths and weakness and determine who is your ally and who is your enemy, and complement each other when forming and joining a party of like-minded warriors to form a unity.
