Nova City Trick-Or-Treat Walk!
WHO: Nova City Guardian/Deputies + YOU
WHAT: Halloween Trick-or-Treat Walk
WHEN: Halloween, Early Evening
WHERE: Nova City, near the Guardian Skywalk
WARNINGS: Hopefully not many? Adorable trick or treaters and just goofy Halloween fun tbh. Some of the characters are still affected by the curse but this is mostly just a happy lil log.
[ While each of the Guardian and Deputies is required to have their devices on for alerts in case something does happen, most of them are in front of the Guardian Skywalk this evening for a special event! Kids can go around visiting each of the Guardians, who are all volunteering to hand out candy. There are a couple of attractions set up for the kids nearby- a ring toss, a bean bag toss, laser tag, a kettle corn stand, and a stuffed animal claw machine. It's nowhere near the size of a real carnival, just big enough to get the kids out and have some fun. Naturally, it's a safe place for everyone and it's free for anyone 13 or under. Adults are welcome if they pay with a limit of one prize per game (seriously, this is for the kids, don't be a dick).
Each of the Deputy Guardians has a huge pillowcase of candy to give out though, so feel free to go up to any one of them to chat or to get some sugary goodness, see the costumes, or just enjoy the cool night air! ]

Satsuki
So there the Deputy Guardian stands, her lower form that of a snake and the upper adorn in a white and red combat skirt normally associated with Weiss Schnee's attire. Why she was even able to get a 24 hours spell cast on her to make her hair white, so all she needed to do was put it up and the scar duplicated with make-up. On top of that she's handing out fun-sized Sno-Caps. It was a brilliant plan!
However in execution things didn't go exactly as planned. When handing out candy, there are several common reactions:
1) "The real Weiss is prettier."
2) "The real Weiss' eyebrows don't look like that!"
or
3) Her appearance makes the child burst into tears.
before moving on, leaving her scowling and a bit embarrassed. Little snot nosed brats.

Weiss honestly couldn't figure it out. People usually went as either something they really liked, a monster, or a parody. Needless to say she's been trying to figure Satsuki's out since she saw it and just finally decided to speak up.
no subject
She avoids having to choose one of the two offered emotions on purpose. "I was going for 'impressed'; not just anyone could convincingly pull off Nova City's..." she opts to pause rather than say 'second best'. "Guardian, wouldn't you say?"
She then crosses her arms, "Though given the young ones reactions, perhaps it is not as perfect as I originally thought after all."
no subject
Weiss looks like she's trying to put her finger on it without accidentally insulting herself.
"Less angry and more mildly judgey in a regal way. I don't scowl. They call me ice queen, not anger management queen. Which I know you aren't but with how mad you look right now that might be why people aren't responding how you hope."
Though it could also be the eyebrows and the fact that Satsuki is around 5'5" naturally whereas Weiss only reaches 5'3" with her 4 inch heels on.
no subject
But she doesn't have much faith. Little bastards. Satsuki gestures toward the bow and arrow. "Do you have any experience in archery?"
no subject
Look, she's not going to lie. She and Satsuki are very physically different. There's nothing wrong with her appearance, but it's going to draw some attention if she's dressing like Weiss.
"I practiced well enough to be able to hit the general area of my target, then tipped these with Dust so they freeze about five inches around wherever they hit."
Basically, she found a way to make it look like she's more skilled in archery than she is for the costume.
no subject
While drawing attention to herself was her primary objective, it still stings that she didn't achieve perfection she thought she had. It makes her regret that Nonon wasn't here to help her out but that is another story.
For now, she tries to steer the focus upon the bow. "I see. Would you have any interest using archery as an avenue for self-improvement?"
no subject
That one's just an additional tip in case Satsuki ever needs to stiffen her clothing. Weiss feels like she's being helpful with it.
"I don't think so. It's useful, but it doesn't do anything a gun can't do better except perhaps for stealth purposes, but stealth has never been my forte to begin with."
no subject
As for archery, Satsuki gives an understanding nod. "I actually do not mean for battle; in my culture there is a martial art of archery practiced called 'Kyudo'."
"While in traditional times it was used in military combat, in its modern form Kyudo is known as 'meditation in action' with the primary goal to achieve the state of 'shin-zen-bi' or truth, goodness, and beauty. Is there anything like that in your world?"
no subject
Of course, there were some aspects in which Weiss wasn't perfect. There were many that she was aware of, and her definition of perfect had honestly changed multiple times as did her expectations of herself. What she considered proper form wasn't always the right decision. Her goal to become perfect was largely overshadowed by so many other things becoming more important, particularly when she realized that perfection wouldn't stop the rest of the world from falling to pieces around you and tearing you down with it.
Another thing she doesn't quite understand is the use of martial arts for non-combat purposes.
"Martial arts are all combative in my world. Though I suppose that has more to do with us constantly needing to protect ourselves from the rest of the world."
no subject
For now she opts to continue on to combat. "That would make sense, though now I am curious to know what you do to clear your mind or relax. I would meditate, though that was before I picked up archery again."
no subject
Climbing Tokyo Tower outside of the observation deck is definitely not strictly legal, but Weiss can sometimes be persuaded to do things like that.. and after the first time, it just became easier.
"Organizing things is relaxing for me too. It helps me clear my mind, and having strict order over everything I'm doing helps me feel like I'm the one in control instead of the other way around."
Just a few things, though Weiss wasn't sure that Satsuki would find tabs and labels to be the most meditative practice.
no subject
Ah, the mention of organizing. It instantly brings Satsuki back to when the two of them first met, though of course one could fail to see how that could be relaxing in any way- but the reason behind it does bring clarity.
"Is organization strictly a single person activity in this case?"

Re: Satsuki
What he hadn't gotten used to at all was her costume. So much so that he could've sworn this was a new arrival entirely. A snake-woman! He's pretty sure they made eye contact and, so far he hadn't turned to stone, so it probably wasn't a gorgon. Might as well clamber up to her and say 'hi'.
"Good evening, miss...actually I don't know your name; never seen you before actually. That's either a very interesting costume, or you've a very interesting form."
He'll piece it together once he hears the voice. Until then....

However something else happens, that ends up being a bit that, frankly, is impossible not to chomp down upon. She had her doubts how good her costume was thanks to those damned kids, but now her confidence has been restored and she actually wants to see where things could go if she doesn't talk.
Eventually she decides it wouldn't be worth the time. "Satsuki Kiryuin," she replies. "And why would it have to be one or the other?" As far as she's concerned, she makes for a damn good naga.
no subject
[gasp!]
"Star, that's you! Ah, but then I forget your penchant for dramatics. Once again you spare no expense; it looks so real." So much so he'll try and touch those scales for himself. Just to check. It doesn't cross his mind that she fell under the sway of Halloween sorcery too.
"A form and a costume, eh? Oh, like a frog prince. Are you a snake princess, then, awaiting true love's kiss? Something almost Edenic about that."
no subject
"I made do with what I had," she replies, only to end up frowning at his guess. "Not quite; I am a historical figure of Genessia. Even you would know her."
That is to say: 'guess again'.
no subject
He's almost mindful enough to be offended at that. 'Even him', huh? He tries to hold his chin, which would require a set of legs to maintain. Thus, he falls, and has to right himself again.
Nonetheless, he's still thinking hard. He honestly couldn't recall a single snake-person he'd ever met in all of Genessia; none that made history, anyway. "Umm...well, it's a very fine costume. You move in it surprisingly well...I can't seem to recall. Then again, you've been here before me, haven't you? Do you think I've forgotten about her? Paid for a death with her memory or something? I hope not; yet I can't think of any reason why I wouldn't know someone that looked so unique..."
no subject
All right, Satsuki, you're getting a little too salty, let's rein it back a little? She closes her eyes, takes in a calm breath, then exhales. "That is rather unlikely; I am dressed as Weiss Schnee. And thank you."
But before she lets him respond she asks. "Theodore, what is the situation with.. that?" gesturing toward his lower half.
no subject
"Oh, this?" He looked down at his absent bottom, as if he'd forgotten. "Aheh, I decided to be frugal and go as a half man. I certainly turned a few heads on my way here." Actually it was to hide the shame of being half-horse, but talking about indecent exposure to a lady didn't seem appropriate.
"Wait, Weiss..." he thought about it for a second, then hacked a laugh.
"Haha! Goodness, Star, I didn't know you had a head for satire! That's brutal! What are you saying about the poor girl, I wonder? That she's sinister as a serpent? Cold-blooded? Lips full of venom? Constricting? Haha, well for your sake I hope you're wrong, for I don't think she'll keep you under her employ much longer with that kind of commentary. Oh, the cruelty of women! Alinsky has nothing on you!"
[He's enjoying it, really.]
no subject
She doesn't join in on said laughter either, to no one's surprise, and simply lets him roll on with his joy. While she doesn't appear amused herself, it is certainly a better reaction than she could have hoped for. "We are going to have to make a visit to an art museum at some point," she finally replies with a hand on her hip. "I am incredibly curious about your interpretations of the art that we see. That said, my costume is generally what others make of it. All I desired was perfection."
Ok that is only half true, but he doesn't need to know that. It also probably doesn't dissuade his thoughts, which isn't her goal either.
".. I must admit, that is certainly a creative way to use your upper body strength for the sake of costume play. But are you truly going to spend the rest of your evening dragging yourself around?"
no subject
"Eheh, thanks for the worry. The you-know-what (life fibers) helps me get along. I've spent many evenings this way; a few more won't hurt." Thankfully he only has to do it in public; private spaces afford a little more leeway.
no subject
After that, "I confess I find your dedication rather bizarre, but considering my own circumstances I do not have much room to say such things, do I?" Satsuki smirks with a shake of her head.

"And since when are you thirteen?"
Ok that isn't exactly the rule but damn it she won't make it easy for him to take her lucky charms without being a target of disapproval.
