Kidding! I'm going with a key since wasting my time figuring out another answer would be boring.
[ She's not kidding though and he may notice the story sounds familiar. She doesn't expect it will to anyone but hey, she's figuring she's alone here. ]

[ She's all for keeping anon. And if it really is familiar to him she's got an idea who he might be. No one else spouts dumb riddles like that where they're from. ]
Boohoo. :( What ever will I do?

[ Anon is the way to go. He's got a pretty good idea. There is only one living member of that gang of inmates. Presumably. Everything else basically confirms the suspicion. ]
Too bad. So sad.

I'll offer one of Raven's riddles in return. "I roar. I can kill quickly. I swallow whole. Yet, I do not have teeth or a tongue. What am I?"

But that was when he'd seen it. The post on the network. And then he started to wonder... was it possible that the person who mattered the most was there too? That he wasn't alone like he had so horribly feared? Maybe he was just seeing what he wanted to, but who else would make a post like that? Who else would make a puzzle out of a puzzle? Still, he couldn't be completely blindsided. He had to be sure. And if he was right... he was being shown ways to be sure. Uncovering the real answer was something he was still trying to desperately decode, but he didn't want to wait any longer to take some kind of action. He couldn't wait. So he would speak in his language. ]
If I'm not mistaken the correct answer to riddle number nine would be an umbrella. I admit, I had to think about it for a while. You must have a knack for these sort of things. Though, it seems a bit of a shame that you've come up with so many on your own only to be asked none in return. Mind if I try my hand at it?
If you head north you won't find, the only emperor that's not one of a kind. Who am I?

What is the correlation between victims brought in here? A sanity certificate? An intriguing puzzle but he'd rather not have it thrust upon them while they're busy doing important work. At least he's not alone. ]
Correct.
You shouldn't sell yourself short by pointing out it took you a while. It was likely faster than most.
But I do have a knack.
Easy. You're a penguin.
I didn't think you liked riddles. I'm flattered you thought to return one.

His eyes lingered on Ed's final sentence for just a moment longer. He had to see him immediately. ]
Yes, my friend, you certainly do.
You tend to pick up an appreciation for things you don't expect when you're around someone long enough, but never mind that for just now. I think a meeting is in order.

You took a lab tech job in a remote mountain laboratory working to work on a cure for zombieism. Unfortunately, a fight broke out between two of the doctors and one of them disengaged the lock for the zombie containment facility in the scramble. The zombies eat the doctors first, who are closest to the door, giving you and the others in the lab time to escape. The janitor, the lab assistant, and an old professor are with you and you have to cross an old rope bridge spanning a huge gorge. You're capable of running across in a single minute. The lab assistant's running speed means she would take two minutes. The janitor needs 5 minutes, and the professor needs 10 minutes and to hold onto the ropes the entire way. The zombies will catch up in about 17 minutes according to the professor's calculations. Because the bridge is really old, it's only capable of supporting the weight of two people at a time or the ropes will snap. It's dark enough out that your cell phone's flashlight only illuminates a small area and only one person has their cell phone. The remote area means there is no signal to call for help. Two people can safely wait in the dark at either end of the bridge during the 17 minute span, but to cross the bridge you must have the light with you. Everyone has to make it before the zombies catch up or else the zombies could step on the bridge while two people are still on it.
How can everyone escape safely to the other side of the gorge before the zombies arrive the bridge and topple it?
anon text forever;
I cross the bridge with the lab assistant. I return with the cell phone and pass it to the janitor. The janitor escorts the professor across then hands the phone to the assistant. She returns for me and we cross together.
2 + 1 + 10 + 2 + 2 = 17 minutes and the zombies arrive just as we clear the bridge.
I can see why it's one of your favorites.
