[The video opens to Jaune trying to fix the camera, before finally settling his device and the picture down. Wearing his jeans and hoodie, he's sitting crosslegged on his bed which he takes a lot of pride in. Oh, and there's a hole in his wall that looks like something around seven or so feet was violently knocked through it but pay no attention to that.

Jaune takes a sip from what looks like an energy drink before he starts talking. He sounds a bit stilted and awkward, as if he didn't plan any of this.]

In case you don't know me, I'm Jaune Arc. I work for the Nova City Branch of Schnee Company, led by Weiss Schnee her snowiness herself. But today, I'm here to promote a very important non-profit side company called Genessia Scientific Research Foundation, or GSRF for short. If you went to the party, which you should have. [He points at the camera, then takes a sip of his drink which is precariously balanced on his comforter.] Then you probably know a little about it. But if you didn't, then stop watching this video and go to GSRF. Right now. I'm serious, stop watching. We have a lot of great things we offer but we can't do this for free. By donating, you get to attend the best parties. There's lots of neat sh-- things going on there. We have some of the most dedicated scientists working there, and they're really smart and stuff. At least I think they are. Don't you have to go to school for a long time to play with needles and other instruments? So yeah, if you're interested in science, or want to find out more about this place and donate your time, we could always use more interested people.

What else can I say about it-- Uhhh. Oh yeah, I got this useful pamphlet! [He picks up a GSRF informative pamphlet which he never bothered to read, carelessly showing it off and holding it like it's more than a piece of paper.] You can get one of these for free and you could read it to learn more. You could read it with your friends...you could even frame it and have a poster. Or write your grocery list on it. It's incredibly versatile! GSRF pamphlets, offered for free at GSRF. But we offer lots of cooler stuff for people who donate. Like a free tote! Weiss do we get free totes? [He looks over his shoulder.] Oh. She's not around. Anyway, you have the word of Jaune Arc you'll get this super cool free tote that you can use for...anything if you donate 50 redbills to the GSRF Foundation. You could put your drinks in it, or your car keys...you could even just carry it around. Just in case you find a stray cat and want to take it home.

Don't be mean to stray cats.

Go check it out yourselves because like science people always say, learning's an opportunity. This carefully thought out advertisement promoting GSRF was not funded by any company and done voluntarily by myself without being assigned or rewarded for doing it.

[ He doesn't seem very focused. ]

I'm sorry I didn't mention Whitley to you, Jaune. I talked about him to Suuu.. ome people, but he just never came up around you.

How about we both sketch them out? ...Or I just could.

Weiss, it's okay. Sun's my friend too. I'm not going to freak out every time you say his name. And it's not like I talk about my family much. I was just surprised. But now, it makes a lot more sense when you yell at me.

[ Jaune you don't want her to help.. ]

It's your idea, I'm not going to take credit for it. You can do it on your own.

What? How? [ Look, she needs to know how it makes sense when she yells at him because that's an excellent excuse if he buys it. ]

I will if you help me narrow them down and critique them when I'm done.

Because you get all bossy and loud and your voice gets kinda high like my sisters when I'd steal their stuff or put on their clothes.

Jaune, I would honored to be critical of you.

[ It's her life's mission. ]

I.. don't think Whitley and I have the same sort of relationship you do with your siblings.

I knew I could count on you.

[He shrugs like it's the most obvious thing in the world. And also spills his drink all over his pants. After some girly screeching he jumps up and walks off-camera, but his voice is still audible.] I kind of got that when you curtsied to him.

[ She just kind of watches that.. display. She's not going to comment further on Whitley for now, not in public. A private conversation is one thing, anything on record is not acceptable for family discussions without very careful phrasing, whether it's positive or negative. ]

After you change clothes, I still want to talk to you.

Here or in person?

[He returns wearing gray pajama pants decorated with bunnies.] I don't think it got on my bed.

In person.

[ She shrugs. ] Put your sheets in the laundry anyway, I'm doing mine later.

Maybe later. Where are you?

Heading home. It's not just about our previously... postponed conversation, there's something else I want to talk about.

...Is it something I want to talk about?

[Did Weiss see Pyrrha? Does she know? Jaune had considered bringing it up with Weiss, but whenever he tries to start talking about it, he just feels a deep sense of dread.]

I have no idea whether you'd want to talk about it or not, but this is something I need to talk about.

Okay. I'm not going anywhere.

[He turns off the video so he can sit back down and put a hand to his head without Weiss seeing. He pretty much stays in that position until Snow starts barking at him for the foods.]

[ When Weiss arrives, the sound of her dogs' tags jingling through the house is the first sign. They're both trained not to bark at her so there's none of that, but after she puts her stuff down she heads straight to Jaune's room to knock on the door. There's honestly a lot to talk about, but she needs to go one thing at a time. She knocks lightly on the door, but opens it anyway and takes a few steps in, Sleet and Frost in tow. ]

Hi, Jaune.

[Jaune's kneeling down, putting some food in Snow's bowl and making excited noises to rile him up a little. He stops and stands up, Snow running past his legs to greet Sleet and Frost.]

Hey, Weiss. You could've just gone the other way.

[ And the immediate guilt. Weiss looks over at the hole in the wall. ]

I'm sorry. Again. The contractor's coming to fix it tomorrow.

That's not what I--

[He slumps, frowning and regretting his words.] It's okay. To be honest, out of everything it doesn't even seem important. It's just a wall. And the room was getting...cramped anyway.

So then.. out of "everything," which thing do you want to talk about first?

[ Weiss approaches slowly, going to sit down on the bed next to him if he lets her. ]

I don't know. Whatever you want, I guess.

[He deliberately looks away, but he won't move or argue if she sits down.]

I don't want to talk about any of this. But we need to talk about you getting jealous and I.. need to tell you why I don't talk about my family.

Weiss, I'm not-- [The anxiety in his voice, the tense way he holds himself seems to fall just enough.] Oh. You wanted--needed--to talk about your family. Okay. Let's talk about it.

[ She looks a little disappointed when he cuts himself off, but it's not like either subject is easy to talk about. Her family certainly isn't. Weiss stays quiet for what's almost a full minute, like she's trying to figure out where to start, or what to say. ]

How much have I told you about my family already?

I know you seem on pretty good terms with your sister, Winter. She's strict and everything, but when I talked to her she seemed like a good person. Your father is...he's controlling. I know he took you back to Atlas and he's hard to communicate with. And, of course there's what he's done to Faunus and the company in general, but that's not what I'm worried about right now. We all know that.

[He's worried about Weiss and, honestly, Whitley.]

My grandfather was a good man. He started Schnee Dust Company from the mines, he did most of the work on his own, and everyone loved him. That's how he got so many people around the world to depend on us, because he did the work himself and he was honest, kind, and brave. My mother fell in love with my father and my father convinced Grandfather to hand the company over to him instead of her. He's got quite the silver tongue, and now she spends her days drinking them away when he isn't yelling at her, or me, or Winter. I used to not realize the reason that I felt like I was worthless for so long was because that's how he wanted me to feel. When I was worthless, I was obedient. He allowed me to leave after trying to make a point because he didn't believe I would win a fight against a... [ She would look amused at the irony of saying this to Jaune if it wasn't so hard to say it. ] A white knight, possessed by Grimm. I had to fight it on my own before I'd ever gotten to Beacon, before I'd had formal training outside of the confines of my home. I nearly died and I didn't care because I knew I was going to die if I stayed there anyway. [ She looks up to the ceiling for a moment, taking a deep breath. Her voice sounds like she's trying to keep very calm while talking about this. It's the first time she's said it outloud if you didn't count her song lyrics, which were much less specific. But she couldn't sing anymore. She needed to use her voice in a different way. ] He'd even convinced me that the reason I went through everything I had was because of the faunus. I hated them. Every last one, because I thought if it weren't for the faunus, everything would be okay. When I found out Blake was one, I realized that a lot of what I thought was wrong. No one had hurt me except for him, even if the White Fang caused a lot of damage. Whitley and Winter have both been through similar.. difficulties. We all have our own ways of dealing with it, and I don't want you to ever bring up that I told you this to them, or anyone else. But...

[ She finally looks to Jaune. She's been playing with her fingers this whole time, as if she was trying to keep an outlet during this conversation to keep herself collected, but she stops. ]

Whitley's the first person from our world that arrived who wasn't in Vale at their time of arrival in Genessia. I'm worried.. that he won't be the last. I'll never surrender to him back home, but back home he's the one with all the cards and I'm the one with nothing left to lose. Here? Everything I care about is here. Winter and Whitley, my friends, my guardianship, my freedom... everything. If he comes, I don't know what I'm going to do. And I needed to tell you, because you're protective of me. I know you are. So I need you to know this, and I need you not to interfere unless I ask for your help.
