[ There's a bit of fumbling from the camera as it shows a large, pupil-less green eye. It blinks, then pans back to show a young girl with a frilly dress and wing-like hair adornments. It.... looks like she's in Fairy Haven, the guildhouse for Fairy Tail in Fayren.

She's giving a big smile as she examines the camera-walkie-talkie-thing. ]

This works like a communication lacrima, right? I wonder if it can see ghosts. [ It can!! Or at least, it seems people here don't need the guild crest to see her ethereal body, so same thing. Not that she knows that yet. ] If it can't, I'll bet this is pretty scary, right? Ooo! [ She shakes the camera a little, emulating a haunted camera or... something.

She seems to grow bored of that after a few seconds. She pouts a little. ] I just got so bored waiting for somebody to show up here. Fairy Tail is usually so active, but it's quiet here... Is everybody working? Sleeping? Maybe I should go check everybody's rooms...

[ No, Mavis, that's breaking and entering. Probably. You lived alone~~ish~~ on an island for like a hundred years come on you can wait a few hours. ]

....I wonder if they'll be surprised to see me here?

[ So yeah. First Master is hanging around the guild waiting for people to show up. Bother her in person or over the videophone. ]

Well, if this world can bring me and you here, Celestial Spirits can't be much more difficult.

It's good to see so many familiar faces here, though. I don't know what I'd do if it were just me.

I wouldn't know. I've never even considered learning how to summon them. I'm not sure they'd even want me to be able to.

[ His conversations with Virgo notwithstanding. ]

It would take a lot of getting used to. [ Speaking from experience. ] Mavis, are you still...?

[ Dead? ]

Yes. Which is why it's so odd that you can see me. I wonder if it's this technology, or if that's just how this world works...?

I don't know. I guess it's best not to question it, if that means it's still safe for you to be around me.

[ And if anyone is powerful enough to create a barrier that could contain his magic, it's Mavis. Maybe her being here is a good thing. ]

[ Hmm. Yes, well- ] This seems like it'd be a good place for you. Even if it's dangerous for other people to be around you, it seems like everybody has these communication lacrima, right? [ HAVE YOU MADE ANY FRIENDS YET ZEREF? ]

[ Zeref audibly sighs, and turns the camera on. It's not fair that he can finally see her, but she can't see him. He has that perpetual frown still on... and a few dead trees in the background. ]

Everyone is given one of these strange amulets when they arrive. I was given one, too. It doesn't quite feel like any lacrima I've ever seen, but it works the same way.

[ In a loose sense, yes, he has! A few members of Fairy Tail, Ruby, Yuri, even that weird doll that keeps wanting him to make a 'contract' with her. ]

[ And Zeref gets a smile now that she can see his face. ]

But with it, you can talk to people without having your magic get in the way.

I've found that there are certain things that my magic can't hurt. Besides you, Death Magic doesn't work on things called 'undead,' these living machines called 'robots,' and living creatures that, for whatever reason, don't have souls that work the same way as ours.

[ That smile nearly gets one out of him, too. It's been forever since he's seen her face, let alone her smiling. ]

Are there many of those here? [ This sounds like a good thing for Zeref, though, so she replies with a smile and her hands clasped. ]

There's somebody that is building a lot of those robots, but... no, I didn't see many undead. Though, I did meet a doll that was brought to life by something that resembles Living Magic, only more advanced. Living Magic can't create an actual soul. She claims to have been given an 'artificial soul' by the one who created her.

There are dragons in this world, as well. But from what I understand, they're not quite the same as the dragons from our world.

[ Dragons? Why is it always dragons? ]

I take it these ones aren't attacking indiscriminately, at least?

They haven't bothered me, or anyone else that I know of. I still wouldn't think it wise to try to bother them in their own nests. Even the friendlier dragons of our world could be very territorial.

I wouldn't go that far. [ Yes you would Mavis. Is it any wonder she's dead? ]

How long have you been here anyway?

A few months, now, actually. Not counting the time in Exsilium.

[ A brief sigh. ]

Apparently, time flows differently in both worlds than it does in Earth-Land.

I figured it must. [ Or else she would have noticed everybody missing. She was just with them all, and certainly not gone long enough for them to build a whole new guild. ]

So, can you tell me what this world's like? I haven't gotten to explore yet. [ She honed in on the guild, like a dragon slayer searching for prey. ]

[ Good thing it wasn't a day later. Zeref's dreading that conversation. ]

For the most part, this world isn't too different from our own. Magic works exactly the same as it did in Earthland, there are organizations somewhat similar to Guilds, and humans still rely on others to solve their problems in exchange for money.

[ A brief pause. Come to think of it... ]

I haven't seen much in the way of an organized government. The closest thing I've seen are elected 'guardians' of the individual cities.

...So no Magic Council then?

[ It's an innocent question. But eyes should not sparkle like this when asking an innocent question. ]

[ Blink, blink. He knew Mavis was no fan of them and their bureaucratic nonsense, but that was a very enthusiastic way of asking. ]

... not that I've seen, no.

[ More like Mavis isn't a fan of having the guild being held accountable for all the damage they do. ]

This sounds like a nice place.

So far, I'm more satisfied with it than I was of our own world. [ And just whatever could he mean by that? ] No argument from me, there.
