[Video]

[Jaune starts the video, shoulders tense. Behind him, there is a nondescript door and window.] Hi. Jaune Arc again. I'm just going to get to the point. I've been here a while, over a year now, and I know a lot of people who have helped Genessia. I've been thinking a lot lately about how I can do the same. More than the other cities, I consider Nova City my home. But it's not perfect, and like all the other cities, some people benefit more than others. And a lot of people are just...overlooked.

I don't regret fighting, but I don't think everyone should have to. And everyone deserves an alternative to cope in ways that end up destroying them. So I've taken my background in dancing and made a dancing studio.

[He pans the camera up to show the building behind him. It's two stories, modern looking, but the most noteworthy feature is the looming gyarados shaped sign with sweeping words below it stating: Neptune's School for Dance. He moves the camera back to his face.]

So yeah Neptune's School for Dance is a new business and dancing studio where I'm hoping we'll get to focus on all kinds of dancing. I'm open to ideas because I want it to be a place where students feel like their input is valuable and stuff. Anyone is welcome to join, it's pay what you can...what else? Oh, right, our adult classes are offered on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Seeing as I'm the only instructor at this time, and a Guardian Deputy, if an emergency happens obviously I'll have to focus on that. Which is why I'm hiring a second instructor and a bookkeeper. Once we grow more I might hire more instructors. [Some of the awkwardness seems to fade as he starts talking more animatedly, gesturing around.] But yeah, we'll be doing at least a few performances in the year, and some anti-violence stuff, as well as-- As well as rehabilitation. First class is free just to see if you're interested, and I guess if you have any questions you can ask them here. [He rubs the back of his neck, a bit unsure, and ends the video.]

[He hasn't actually been to her new home in person, but now that they're starting to mend their friendship and he has some free time, it seems like a good chance to. Equipping his pokeballs and shooting her a quick text, he heads over there and knocks on her door.]

Yes there is. There's always a secret ingredient! You know, I could probably find you a shield just for cooking if you wanted, instead of using another pan.

It's a recipe from a book, I'm fairly certain it's not secret. I don't need a shield.

Then they must have either omitted it or included it as a riddle. No you don't.

[ She just gives him a look and shakes her head. ] Do you want food or not?

And you know me, so. Good job.

I'm always up for food.

Then go sit down and let me cook chicken and stop making fun of my pan lid.

Do you know how to blanche vegetables?

[ because he can do that but she doesnt trust him to do the chicken ]

I have no idea what that is and what I'm thinking it might be is probably incredibly wrong.

It's where you boil water, put the vegetables in the water for about 30 seconds, then take them out and put them in ice water to stop the cooking. Then you toss with olive oil and salt and pepper and it's the easiest way to get good vegetables. Do you think you can manage that?

Probably better than you can manage using fire dust. Yes I can manage heating and cooling a couple of vegetables.

I can manage fire dust just fine. You burn down the forest one time and all of a sudden people think you're bad at it.

[ GOSH. She shakes her head then gets out a basket of fresh veggies from the fridge and passes them over to him, then goes to get things ready for the chicken. ]

Tell that to the poor bunnies and birds.

[Okay. Time to boil some water. He can do this. Not...a...problem. He pours the water in the pot and walks away, but occasionally glances over his shoulder. Finally when he realizes the water hasn't started to boil, not even bubble, he kneels in front of it, frowning.

He forgot to turn the stove on.]

Weiss?

[ She's got her bowl with eggwash, her bowl with flour and bread crumbs and salt and pepper, and her pan is ready with oil in it. Time to slice the chicken. She turns to Jaune with a big ol' knife in her hand. ]

What?

The water's not doing that-- [Wow that knife is distracting.] Thing where it...boils. It's not boiling. [He self-consciously hugs his arm.]

[ Whatever boyo she can't cut chicken with Myrtenaster. She looks at him, then she looks at the pot, then tilts her head slightly, then slightly more until she sees the fire isnt even on. ]

Jaune. Turn it on.

[Can't she? He's looking increasingly more discouraged, nearly jumping when she gives him the answer.]

Oh! Right! [Turning on the stove. He watches the flame come to life.] This sure is a lot different from microwaves or starting campfires.

[ Not well. that's not what that blade is for.

Also you don't want Grimm guts in your chicken or chicken in your Grimm guts it's just not good practice. ]

Are you okay?

[ Jaune you're acting like she's going to put this knife in you instead of the chicken breasts... ]

Oh!

[ She almost forgot. She puts the knife down on the sink then goes to grab her aprons. Sorry Jaune, she only has frilly ones. It's not like Whitley wants to help cook.. She holds one out for him too though. ]

I'm fine? [His voice goes high.] Why do you ask. What are you--

[Oh. It's just an apron. He doesn't even blink as he takes one and ties it on. He looks completely ridiculous, seeing as it probably only reaches a few inches below his waist and it doesn't quite fit his shoulders, but since when has he cared?]

[ Whatever, it's in prime splatter location, he'll be OK. Weiss's fits perfectly- probably because they're hers. ]

I.. suppose it'll get the job done.

[ She goes back to slicing the chicken into strips, dipping it into each bowl after and then putting them in the pan with the hot oil. By the time she's done with the last slice, she runs over to wash her hands, then starts flipping the first piece of chicken over to get the other side. They're cut thinly enough that it's not too hard to cook all the way through. (This process did take some practice to perfect.) ]

[If anything he looks a bit disappointed that it doesn't fit right.] Yang's seemed to fit.

[The water starts boiling, so he tosses in the vegetables, counting to 30 under his breath. After that he uses a drainer to take them out and put them in ice water, grabbing the seasonings an olive oil. They'll probably come out a bit saltier than Weiss prefers, but it's his first time and he's trying.]

Yang's bigger than I am and you're bigger than Yang. Of course my things aren't going to fit you at all.

[ Let that be a lesson Jaune. ]

Okay, go ahead and get out some plates and put those on while I finish up the chicken.

[ The chicken definitely takes a little longer than the vegetables, though not much considering Jaune took his time turning on the stove top.. ]

Darn. I liked the frills.

[He does as instructed but he keeps eying the vegetables warily like they'll start oozing Grimm guts or something.]

[ Well, she knows what to get him for the next holiday. She shrugs it off and then sets the chicken on a plate with a towel to drain off the excess oil, then once it's done puts them next to the vegetables.

She considers Jaune for a moment. Things are still a little awkward, and there are still things she doesn't want to do with him, but she can throw him a bone here. She puts her hand out for a low five. ]

I think we did a fair job.

[He just looks confused at first when she extends her hand. Awkward indeed. When she approves of their efforts--which she definitely should be doing--his eyes light up and he gives her a quick low five.]

Ten out of ten, no one got hurt and your kitchen is still in one piece.
